This is just a question I was wondering, not that I will actually do this
If I have my phone connected to fast charging, and then I put it on the wireless charger, is that bad for the battery?
I am pretty sure that wireless charging disables once you plug in micro usb.

Does anyone know how to enable "rapid charging" on CM10. You know, where you trick your phone unto thinking it's connect to a AC adapter when it's really connect to a USB cable? The reason I need to know is it charges relatively slow on the car charger even though it gives off just as much amps as an AC adapter.

I think it has to be supported by the kernel.
You can always buy a charge only usb cable or make your own if you own a spare cable. Obviously data will no longer work over this cable but it will charge on AC mode no matter what it is connected to.
I was just curious, lol. Would the phone break or something? Thanks.

Oops, wrong section...Sorry! I don't know how to move or delete this. Anyway, my curiosity stays.
I think qi charging overrides USB charging, but it could be the other way around. Either way, the phone knows to deactivate one.
According to the battery monitor, wired charging (USB or A/C) overrides wireless charging. So, if you plug it in, it doesn't matter if you place it on the wireless charger or not.
I seem to recall someone at Google (on one of their product QA's for this phone) that even though it makes logical sense for the AC charger to take precedence (faster, less heat generation) but the QI charger is the one actually doing the charger.
I realize this contradicts what the battery status would indicate, but it is plausible that the indicator does not report it correctly.
Either way, the only time I can really see this being a factor for me even REMOTELY, is in the extremely rare event I have the phone plugged into my computer via USB, and sitting on my qi charger. But that almost never happens, I sync data to/from the phone over wifi just because, well, it's easier. It's not faster, but since it happens automatically it takes less effort.
In that case, I'd actually prefer the qi charger to work, since it's a faster charge than my USB port.
imagine the hilarity if both charging circuits worked though...sounds good in theory but I think we'd all have broken phones
I've plugged in my USB cable (hooked up to my computer via USB 3.0), while my phone was sitting on my Qi charger (nokia, 750mah), and the usb cable takes priority over the charge.
When wireless charging is in effect, you hear the NFC tone from the phone. Also the light on the charger turns on when its charging. It doesn't play when you lay a phone with USB plugged in, and the light doesn't turn on in front of the charger, so.
I'm pretty sure this would disrupt the space-time continuum.

I can confirm that while setting on the wireless charger, the "charging" light is on on the charger, but if I plug the cable in, the light goes out. The wired charger is DEFINITELY overriding the wireless charger.
For people using OTG cables or external storage adapters on the microUSB slot they do require wireless charging to work while being "plugged in".
awesome question...I have a S5, which has a galaxy charging current app
does one exist for the nexus? if so, you could tell by the amps it is charging at
I bought a 1amp wireless charger. Now question is if my kernel supports fast charge and I toggle it on and plug this charger into USB on a computer vs the charger in the wall....will it still pull maximum output in amps the wireless charger could do. So it would be the same effect...through wireless?

Yeah, it'll take as much as the 500mah as it can from the computer and same goes for the 1amp wall charger. You just have to remember that wireless charging isn't 100% efficient, so 1amp input actually comes out to around 700~mah.

I'm not so sure about that. Fast charge detects a usb charge and treats it like a wall charge. But if the phone is charging wirelessly it's not plugged into usb. I don't think fast charge will have any effect on wireless charging. That's my understanding anyway.

Oh, I was talking about wireless charging in general. Not sure if it would work with fast charge or not though.
I just recently purchased a external battery charger on amazon, I'm pretty sure i wont get fast charging out of it, but my question for you guys is that if I'm NOT getting fast charging to my note 4, is it better to turn off fast charging in my battery settings on my note? Or can I leave the fast charging settings on the way it is and the phone will still charge from my external with no problem?
To be more clear, if I'm using a charger with no fast charging capabilities, do I have to turn the fast charging settings off in order for it to get a good charge still? Or is it ok to leave the fast charging settings on?
I was under the assumption that fast charging was for charging on a USB port on a PC and it would turn off MTP capabilities and use it for power only. I could be wrong though.

Fast charging is exactly what it sounds like. Charging the phone through the factory charging adapter and plug that came in the box, but you have to go to the phone's battery settings and turn on fast charging, this allows your phone to charge faster than normal, a feature that the Note 4 has.
Fast charging can be achieved with some other brand name chargers as well, but I never heard of it being possible when connected to a USB port on a PC before...
Silly question I know, so don't hammer me, Do we have to actually use the bundled USB cable? or any cable will do the job, given its connected to the rapid/adaptive charger.

Good question, so I tried the Samsung power block with a different USB cable and the Fast Charger Connected indicator popped up on the screen. So I would say that you do not have to use the bundled cable.
I'm not sure if I'm being stupid or not, but when I charge my S6 (using the cable that came with it) and the phone is off, I do not get the fast charging symbol/text. However, as soon as my wife plugged hers in to charge it for the 1st time and it was off, it had the fast charging text. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance.
I get the fast charge symbol and it says "fast charging" Not sure what you are doing wrong.

Just to make sure, you said you were using the cable, are you also using the white 110 adapter that you plug the cable into on the wall side? I always get the fast charging message, both using the equipment supplied with the phone, as well as using a "Qualcomm 2.0" fast charge car cigarette lighter style adapter I bought from Amazon.
Good luck
Can we control when it fast charges vs slow charges? What's the difference (besides the obvious)?

Assuming you use the included charger, or another charger with Qualcomm 2.0 Quick Charge capability, it will always take advantage of the technology. None of the wireless charging, as far as I know, is equipped with the fast charge technology, so that will always be at conventional speed.
As an aside, I have plugged my phone into the "quick charger" and then set it on the wireless charging pad, and the pad shows it "charging". I haven't really checked to see if that adds anything to the speed of the charge.

I believe there is a setting in the battery stats menu where you can turn off fast charging well it was on my note 4 anyway.
