Need help confirming this. I know it's happening to at least 2 of us, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3078689.
Can you guys put your camera into front facing mode on 5MP and see if you get some weird blue dots? What do y'all think, hardware or software issue? It's present in all the modes except for 3.8MP I'm assuming because it's 16:9 and you can't see it. It's really noticeable in a darker room but it's still present when you're in a lit room.

Canadian variant, no blue dots.
No problem on mine. UK unbranded, 32gb black standard.
Keep in mind guys that this only happens when the front camera is completely covered and screen shows complete black. Also mine is very feint so you may have to look close on full brightness.

What's the point of this. It occurs when the front camera is completely covered? So what. No one ever takes a picture with front camera completely covered do they?
It doesn't happen only when the screen is completely covered. It happens if you happen to be in front of a dark background as well. For what it's worth when I was in the T-Mobile store today getting a return there was a Samsung rep there. He said it definitely shouldn't be doing that and took pictures of my phone and samples of photos I had taken with the front facing camera and sent them to their engineering department.
And here's a pic from inside my truck...
Nothing on mine. T-Mobile S6.
no issues many your phone is defective try resetting the camera setting in apps
Unbranded UK, i have no blue spots on mine
Take it back for sure
Found this thread through a Google search. I have the edge version and I also have the blue dots. I took quite a few pictures the other day when I got it and now today I have them. I ordered mine through Amazon and I am with sprint if that helps. I tried multiple camera apps and they are all the same. I am going to call Amazon in the morning.
edit - I called amazon right now instead of in the morning. They called sprint and sprint said it is a known issue and they would replace the phone if Amazon did not. Here is the thread I made for the edge users if you would like.
S6 edge issue thread
I can confirm, my wife's S6 had this problem (3 blue spots that appeared one day in the FFC when she was taking a selfie) I checked over and over, and the blue dots even show in the pics.. so I tried booting into recovery, clearing cache partition, and BAM! problem solved.
It's definitely software IMO.
I have HEAPS of blue dots when using my front facing camera. Owned the phone for 6-8months now. First time I've noticed it, but there are heaps of them
Canadian just got it 2 days ago no blue dots for me

Im wondering if the Samsung Infuse 4G suffers the same issue with the Galaxy S2's screen issues..
1.) Yellow tinting
2.) Left side is darker than the right
3.) Huge color temperature swings from unit to unit
4.) Difference of white brightness
5.) Visible suction cup marks
6.) White blotches on the screen when a gray image is displayed
7.) Color banding
Any input is appreciated, pictures are also welcome especially if its the notification tray dropped down.
I personally have not had any of those issues that i can recall or that i can tell.
At the very very bottom of my screen on the Infuse there is a noticeable tearing or bending...whatever you want to call it. I have seen 4 with this small imperfection. Maybe it was a bad batch.

I think it is an intended effect. (bottom of screen) It's really noticeable when you scroll through text.
The issues the OP mentioned, I've seen none of.
It's clearly not an intended effect. It's only the bottom row of pixels anyway.
None of those other problems I have in the slightest.

I had a light spot on my first Infuse. It was only noticeable on dark gray backgrounds. Exchanged because of it and my second and third Infuses didn't have it.
Haven't noticed the other issues mentioned by the OP and I'm pretty particular about screens. Color balance is much better than my old Captivate.
@hwaters
I may just be seeing things but there also looks like a yellowish tint captured by the camera, would be you able to zoom out a bit on the photos something that shows the entire phone but not further away. Thanks!
For those who are willing to contribute pictures please post a picture of the notification tray dropped down with the full phone in view.
My camera was having focusing issues from farther away but I did take a few other pictures earlier today.
If there is some yellow tinting oh well. It may just be an issue with how they may the super amoled plus screens.
Hey i have this white dot on the middle of the screen . i mean its white on black backgrounds but not noticable on lighter colours . what could this be ?

Sounds like a stuck pixel. If it was dead it would be black.
There are various apps that are designed to attempt to fix the problem, by flashing the screen to create different levels of pixel activity. But I'm not sure if they will actually do anything.

I have a problem like this as well. It's not a stuck pixel, it looks more like a "smear" on the screen whose pixels won't get as dark as they are supposed to. The problem is most apparent on dark gray backgrounds. You know, the kind that's all over Holo. :/
Never tried to contact HTC about it since I figured it was my fault, but if other people here have exactly the same problem then it may be a more widespread problem.

It's still very hard too see it properly. Has it always been there?
It sort of reminds me of the first LCD TVs that were released that suffered from 'clouding' in the corners. Which could be 'massaged' out of the panel. Yet this is directly in the centre area if the panel. Or even reminds me the knuckle marks on my old Dell monitor (long MMORPG story) that look exactly like that. Damaged pixels that won't fill completely anymore.
I find it hard to imagine how this could happen without direct damaged (which is pretty much impossible in this scenario, without a damaged digitizer). Or without it being a manufacturing issue, prior or even during assembly.

Hmmm strange, I have the same problem since about 2 months. I thought it was my fault because I pressed the screen too hard or something. On my phone it's a dot, not a smudge.

Have you opened up the case of the phone at all? If you get something behind the screen it will push the center of it out and create exactly the issue you have.
Even if you haven't opened it up, something could be stuck back there. A big peice of dirt, a small plastic peice that broke up internally, or anything else.
If you have teken the device part, do it again and make sure it's clean behind the screen. If you haven't, send it back for a new one.
In case you weren't aware, Samsung is using two new camera sensors for the S8 and S8+ -- Sony's IMX333 & ISOCELL S5K3H1 (made by Samsung). Apparently both sensors should work relatively the same and take more or less the same quality of pics. Is the Sony one still the preferred sensor this time around? I know that's been the case in past models.
You can find out which sensors you got in your device by downloading AIDA64 from the Play Store.
From there, do as follows:
Open the app and tap on "Devices"
You'll then see what sensors you have for both the front and rear facing cameras. (see pic below)
I have the S8+ (in US, on AT&T) and when I used that app, here's what I got below. Also, apparently when you go into this page, it requests camera permissions, which for this case, I didn't need to do it. When you allow them, some of the info below the focus modes changes.

I knew there was another way to check which sensor you have, at least in the days of the S3, so you didn't have to download an app to find out this info... except I have no idea if it exists and if so, I have no idea how to do it (and I don't remember how to do it for the S3).
I have the exact same stats as yourself. I have a pre-order Orchid Gray T-Mobile model 64GB. I did notice something curious about these stats, though. Notice in the app that it says we do not have support for video stabilization and yet we do actually have an option for such within the camera app settings. I wonder what that is all about?

In the Uk on EE we got this one.
I guess the motion stabilization for video uses some different hardware.

Hi Guys,
Need some advice. Just picked up a galaxy s8 plus for my personal device. I had one already for work. Noticed the work device has a much cooler screen and looks more white to me. Noticed the S8 plus i picked up for my personal has a redder hue to it. I tweaked the different modes in display but the personal device just cant get as cool or white as the work device I have. The work device (Left) is the US Snapdragon model and the personal ( right) is the international exynos model. Is this hue worth returning over or is this variation in screens normal. Looked at a Note 8 i have and it resembles the work device and is cooler and whiter as well. Any ways i can get the whites the same on my personal device ? Coincidentally the device on the right was manufactured 4/27/2017 while the device on the left was made 3/23/2017. I have also tried the display tweaks and the *#15987# trick.

Return it. That's how my first looked, and no matter how I adjust the tone, it couldn't get white. My replacement is normal. I almost kept the first thinking it's normal per the number of reports I've seen about it, but I'm so glad I exchanged it.
Thanks for the feedback

I own a small repair shop and actually had a client with this issue last week. Unfortunately for her, the phone was bought from eBay and it didn't had any warranty, so she couldn't ask for a replacement, thus coming to my shop. I kept looking for a solution all day long, but she eventually sold it.
Thanks

Hopefully they remedy eventually. Was reading and some Note 8's even have the same issue. Guess you have to get used to it.
I would stick with basic. It is what everything but HDR content is supposed to be viewed in.
That yellowish tint is totally normal and how it should be. The phone you have pictured on the left has way too cool of an image.

Hello guys,
I noticed a slight misalignment with my fingerprint scanner on the Pixel 3 White 128 GB. I'm not sure if this is a singular issue or if it affects all other Pixel 3 phones / only this charge. I'm not sure if I should return it / get a new one (bought it today).

Are you sure? I decided to take a magnifying lens. I also heard about this "issue" in a Youtube video about the Pixel 3. It's just a slight line, maybe less than a mm, but it's stil there - on a thousand dollar product.
Or maybe I am wrong. This is something difficult to notice. And only from a certain angle. Maybe you guys can try to reproduce it on your devices?
Maybe only the Clearly White 128 GB charge of the small Pixel 3 is affected. Who knows.
Looks a bit misaligned to me. Mine isn't off center like that, so they're not all that way. Question is if it works ok how OCD are you? Only other thought is if it's not sealed well enough it might allow moisture to get in, but that's the only possible risk I can see if it works well.
I have the same issue on my 128gb white one
same issue on my 64GB not pink @@

Its an optical illusion, as you are looking at shadows through glass. You can see in your second photo, if you remove the "depth" of the shadow layer, the fingerprint sensor sits right in the middle.
Look at the back of your pixel and hold it upside down. Look more normal? Now turn your pixel to the side..any difference?
You can also try looking at it in a semi-dark room. You wont see any shadows, it should look normal.
same issue on my white 64. at first i thought it was just the back glass etching. but it is slightly off center.
Just got my pixel 3 white 64gb and mine is off to the left. Can't un-see now... hopefully the iprating isn't compromised
Just got mine today and same thing, the google expert said nothing wrong. I sent pictures. Same thread on reddit, but i pushed the sensor and it does shift to cover the space, for everyone saying its an optical illusion.
Somewhat related to this, Got a Pixel 3 that had sealing adhesive coming out from top right of the phone. There was not a lot of goo coming out but definitely not acceptable for a $800 phone. It seems the tolerances on Pixel 3 to push them out to market are not great.
