[Q] Fingertouch security issue? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone experienced any security issues with the fingertouch sensor on the new Samsung Galaxy S6?
Any other issues?
Ive read a review where they had experienced a security issue once, and after googled it i found another incident and a guy asking for advice at a android forum regarding both the S6 and edge model.
I am curios because my sensor have problems - to say it nicely - even tough ive tried reset and adding fingerprints differently. I am gonna be testing security this weekend with some friends. Any inputs here would be nice, thanks!

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with your Galaxy S6 fingerprint sensor. I am not having any such issues and I have been on and off my phone all night and all day. You should return your device as soon as possible if you have an issue as it is likely you have a defective model... It happens.

[Q] Cracked screen and casing issue?

I was just wondering if anyone has these problems.

I've been reading online that the galaxy s3 has been having some body case issues and with the screen also..
http://www.netbooknews.com/51826/mysterious-crack-in-samsung-galaxy-s3-screen/
I also heard Samsung admitted about the faulty screens. I just wanted to know if anyone else is having these issues?
My GS3 from Verizon is doing just fine, nothing wrong.
What exactly did Samsung admit to?

Keep on reading buddy. I just read it online, not sure if its true or not.

I've got the UK SIM Free version of this phone and a mysterious small crack appeared on my phone after the first couple of days of usage. I've noticed since then it's gradually started to get bigger. It's got to be a design flaw because it's always kept in a cushioned case.
I'm not very happy after spending £600 on this handset. I didn't take out insurance.

Samsung Acknowledges Problem With Compass

I stopped back in Best Buy to ask if they knew about compass calibration resetting, and they said they do know, and that they are replacing phones with faulty compasses. If it is still within 14 days of purchase from Best Buy they will trade the phone out on the spot. If you are outside the 14 day return period, then Samsung will still replace the phone, but you have to mail yours in and they will send a new one - leaving you without a phone for the duration of that process. Which is idiotic. But, I'm with Sprint, and they said that Sprint will switch it out, on the spot, if you go into a corporate store. So that is what I will do tomorrow.
They said very few S6's had the compass report, but the ones that reported it are gold. (mine is gold.) Other than that, it's only been S6 Edges are are affected.
Now watch, I'll trade in my phone for a working compass and end up with an ISOCELL sensor.
I would not risk replacing the phone because of resetting compass calibration if everything else works ok. Too many things can go wrong - you can get faulty screen (pink/yellow tints, uneven brightness, uneven color), dim flash issue, faulty accelerometer or fingerprint scanner, random reboots, scratched camera/heart sensor glass/home button, the camera sensor you don't want etc. I still think it is software related as all 4 devices I checked had this issue. Are you sure it is HW related ?

I'm not sure of anything, but if Samsung is swapping them out instead of waiting waiting for an update, then it sounds like they are sure.
I hope very much that this is software related issue, because there's no way I can swap phone...

Yeah, but remember Best Buy is not Samsung. I would not trust too much in their words, their answer is very often: yes, it is known issue, we will swap the device. So if you did not get a confirmation from Samsung itself I really doubt it is HW-related issue. It is just a fix for people who are not patient enough.

No, these are Samsung reps in the Samsung corporate area of Best Buy. They are solely Samsung. They don't sell anything, and cannot access Best Buy computers - they are only there to demo Samsung products and give info. I'm not referring to the Best Buy Wireless employees. (I don't know if every store has a Samsung corporate display area, but all the ones I've been to in L.A. have them.)

No, I didn't. Aside from being lazy, it hasn't been much of a problem since I rarely reboot my phone. I have a feeling that someday I will be upset I never got it replaced, but it's just not a big enough issue right now to take the time to do it.
What's with the title here? LOL. Did Samsung really acknowledge a problem?
I hate this compass problem. Same **** on my Note 3.

Galaxy S6 Front Facing Camera Problems.

Hello everyone. I don't know if I'm within the rule book while starting this new thread. But after about half an hour of search, I couldn't find an appropriate thread to post my problem. So I thought creating a new thread would help. Sorry again, if I'm breaking any rule.
So I bought a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge on the 3rd of August. Took it home, set it up, and just out of curiosity, compared it with another Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in the family. To my utter shock, I found out that the front facing camera on the newly purchased Edge was not as good as the one on the older ones. It was foggy and a lot whitish. The skin tones were coming out different and the colors looked washed out too. And in a relatively dark room, I felt the new Edge didn't let as much light in as the older ones did. I immediately reported it to the service centre and after a lot of speculations and contemplations and prejudice, it was finally replaced. I got a DOA Certificate issued. I took it to the dealer I got the S6 Edge from and this time decided to go for a Galaxy S6. I set it up, got it updated from the service centre to Android 5.1.1. So now, I have this newly purchased Galaxy S6 and the older Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge in the family. I again compared mine with the other two, this time with a bit of apprehension rather than curiosity. Needless to say and shockingly enough, this Galaxy S6 is pretty much like the S6 Edge I got replaced. The Images look darker, skin tone doesn't look fresh, feels like it's not allowing as much light in as it should. Let me mention the fact that the older S6 Edge and S6 have absolutely same front facing cameras. Not even a thin line difference there.
There are conditions where (especially outdoors during daytime) the three front facing cameras perform almost the same. It is when you come indoors that the new S6's camera takes a beating. I don't know what the reason is. All three of them boot the same Android 5.1.1. The Display settings are the same (there's no question of it as I clicked images and put them on my Laptop to compare) and so are the Camera settings. I even reset the new S6 to no avail.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to why the two back-to-back Phones had a problem, if at all it is a problem that is! Or is it that Sammy has started optimizing their front facing cams differently? The S6 Edge was manufactured in May 2015 whereas the replacement S6 got was manufactured in March 2015. No connection whatsoever there. And yes, the display tone on the S6 Edge is slightly warmer. The older S6 has a different display and the newer one is yet again in its own territory.
Will really appreciate any help from any one.
Should I report this to the service centre? Or are there any solutions?
The battery life is ridiculous too, especially after I got it updated to Android 5.1.1.
Thanks again.
Kind regards.

The mods will move it shortly. Good luck troubleshooting your problem.
Older Galaxy S6s had a different camera module, they used a Sony module.
Newer Galaxy S6 uses a Samsung module.
A lot of people prefer the older Sony cameras.

I think he is talking about the front camera. Its the rear facing camera that has got two modules, The Sony IMX and the Samsung ISOCELL. Regarding the front camera, we still dont have proper information as to which is which.

Samsung does have the habit of going in for different sensors at times. So if there is a difference in two back to back phones, it sure is because of that. It would be of great help if you post your current sensor ID as well as the older ones using any APP like AIDA64. If there is a change in the sensor ID/ Name for front cameras, yes sammy has swapped.

Ok, I'll post the details asap.
But the manufacturing date is the key here, I reckon.
My new S6 is manufactured in Mar. 2015 and has that different Camera. The previously purchased S6 and S6 Edge have been manufactured in the same month too and are doing just fine. The S6 Edge that got replaced was manufactured in May 2015. So not sure about the Lens swapping. Will nevertheless post the details...

Any known issues?

Hey guys. Have currently ordered my new 12 gb one plus 7 pro nebula blue and I can't wait till it arrives but had a quick question for everyone......
Has anyone noticed any major or minor bugs or glitches on the phone?
I'm coming from a huawei p20 pro and I know the os and everything is going to feel fluid and google like but it's a major step for one plus to go to a curved display and 2k display and 90 hertz display so it could be little experimental but I was just wondering if anyone was having any issues with the phone if they don't mind sharing. I would love to know.
I'm sorry if I put a duplicate thread but didn't notice a thread with bugs and issues.
And I did see online that people were experiencing "phantom" touches issues and was wondering if anyone else was having that issue and what I need to do to avoid it from happening to my phone.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
I actually have ghost touch issues, and it seems a lot of people also got it, if not everyone. But due to the fact it happens under some condition, not everybody seems to be aware of it. You have to run your screen at 90Hz, with NFC enable, and launch some specific apps like CPU-Z or reddit for it to happens, because it seems the issue come from the NFC. I heard it was a software issue and Oneplus is working on it, and I hope it is, because if it's an hardware issue, I will sell my phone.
Well, if you can deal with this ATM, this is a very nice phone, I sold my S10 to get this one and I'm absolutely not disappointed!

So if I understood correctly. You're saying it is possible because of nfc connection being on?
It disappears if nfc is off? I barely use nfc anyways so hopefully my phone will be fine.
And hopefully it is software and not hardware issue. That would suck as I can't return it where I am atm and will have to wait a month or so before I can if it's hardware issue.
And to my understanding.... Oneplus had a software update that improved camera and performance etc... Did you install it and have you noticed the ghost issue gone or still present in the new update?
Thanks for the update

From my understanding the phantom touches issue is very rare. I havent havent had the issue. The only bug I have noticed is when a phone call ends, youre always taken back to the homescreen. So if youre on twitter or playing a game, once the call ends any app will auto close. Its annoying but nothing crazy and will most likely be fixed soon.

First time hearing about that one. But thanks for you input.
Not a deal breaker for me but I can see how that can get annoying.
Have you or anyone noticed the earpiece random noises when on the call like other people have?
Or it's just device specific?
I bought the phone Friday when it came out. So I'm scared I bought the phone too soon and I might get more bugs on my phone that anyone else's but only time will tell when I get the device in hand.
(I ordered it early but since I'm in Africa right now, I had to ship it to USA international then ship from there to me using a third party delivery shipping service. That's why I haven't received the phone yet and have been waiting for a while)

That's good. Fingers crossed mine doesn't have any issues. My first oneplus device.
I've always wanted oneplus for their speed and oxygen os.
And the 7 pro really sold me with the 90hertz and that amazing speed and display.
I can't wait for the device to come in.
When did you buy and get the device? Ddi you guys order on Friday when it got out on the store like me or were you guys at the pop up event in New York or other places?

Yeah this is my first OnePlus device as well. I just switched from a Note 8 so I was already used to the edge display and I can say the edge display on this device is much better. The speed with 90hertz is also amazing and you can really tell the difference from 60hertz. The display is also great. With the front camera hidden inside the phone, the phone really feels like it is all display. Also the phone gets really bright making it easier to see in direct light and the night mode to tone down the blue light.... The greatest. I have sensitive eyes so looking at bright things at light was a rarity for me but this device can get really dark compared to phones Ive used in the past.
Anyways, I bought the phone the Friday when it went on sale. I had a lot of faith in OnePlus after hearing it do so well the past few years so I took the chance and got it.

Yea those are some of the reasons I got the phone as well. I'm coming from a used huawei p20 pro, a phone my brother passed on to me when he got the new mate 20 pro.
I've never bought a new phone. My first phone I ever bought was on contract which was the LG g4. Loved the curved back but screen didn't last for me (only one year in a 3 year contract at the time) then was using my back up phones until my brother gave me his p20 pro.
I've always wanted to try a curved screen display rather than curved back.
And I've been following one plus for a while, (I even got a referral for the oneplus one when they had a refferal service) but ended up selling it to someone else because I didn't trust oneplus back then but then after the other devices from one plus came out then I slowly gained interest.
And this oneplus 7 pro really caught my attention but these issues and bugs everyone is experiencing is really scaring me. If it's a hardware issue then I would have to take a long process to return the phone and I really don't want to do that.
Really hope it's a software issue and can get fixed in a future software update.
Or if I don't get the issues at all then that would be even better. Fingers crossed and will update the forum when my phone comes in.
I don't use the cpu app nor do I use nfc. So hopefully I don't encounter the issues but let's see. You never know
And how is the new update? Worth updating or made it worse?
Usually it's better but some people have been experiencing issues idk
Would love your input whether to skip that update when my phone comes or to download it right away
