Binding Hardware Buttons to S Voice? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can I bind a hardware button to S Voice, as in double Tap home button etc.? Because the hotword isn't working for me, and it defeats the purpose if I have to go into my Apps and launch s Voice. It should be an OS-wide thing, no?

Home/Back buttons mapping

Hello people here.
I want to use the home/back buttons for different purposes, that they are designed for. I am using AEBPlus software. With this software I am able to map much more functions on these buttons, but the problem is,these buttons are doing designed functions(home/back) also after mapping even they are unbinded from the system and handled by AEBPlus,so one click means 1click function and home/back at the same time. Anybody knows, how to disable default functionalities?
Thanks for help.
I have AE Buttons to ramap PTT with a long press to activate voice command. I use a 1 press to bring down the Start menu. But it also remaps the "Home" key to do the same. They seem to be locked together. Any thoughts. The descriptions of the buttons in AE doesn't do them justice. Can't tell what is what.
my PTT and Home button are mapped as the same for some reason.
when i use AEBPlus, i can do 1-3 clicks on the PTT, but i cant do the PTT Hold for some reason. any ideas?

[Q] Voice Search In Virtual Buttons

So coming from gingerbread, I noticed a distinct lack of voice actions shortcuts. I have the ATT Samsung Galaxy S 2, which is currently experiencing a speed bump in kernel development. Consequently, I use the ics virtual buttons. Now, in Gingerbread, by holding the search key, I could activate voice actions from anywhere. I cannot do this in ics, because there is no search button on the virtual buttons. Instead, one must go to the home screen and launch it from the permanent search bar
So I propose this to the xda community: a voice actions key in the virtual buttons. It could just be a little mic silhouette, like the home button is a house silhouette. I know that there is a mod that makes a permanent search key in the virtual buttons, but I can't get it to work, so I don't know if a long press starts voice actions.
Is this possible or feasible?
Sorry if this is in the wrong thread
hopefully cm9 adds a way to customize software buttons

[Q] Market apps can't pick up or control wired headset, reassinging keycode works?

I recently got a Skullcandy wired headset that has a built in mic and the small button that can be used for routing calls. There are a number of third party apps to control more closely the actions of wired headsets, most notably "Headset Button Controller", but there are other free ones, or other ones that say they're for specific headsets and are supposed to work across the board, etc.
When the headset's plugged in and I press the button, it does register somehow in that the OS (AreaRom on Galaxy Precedent, gingerbread based) tries to do something funny like call the last person I talked to or start voice recognition. But I'm not sure exactly what it's doing. On all the third party apps for controlling headsets, I never got any change in the limited and buggy behavior of the headset button. On the "Headset Button Controller", for debug I checked the button to alert when the button was pressed, and it looks like it wasn't picking it up.
But what I *was* able to do was find the keycode (231, if it matters) using the key number tracker helper that comes with the Button Remapper app (floating around here on the forums) and remap it accordingly. After I did that, I could assign one, but only one, function to it. I chose the skip track function. The apps that are on the market allow you to control single tap, long tap, etc. Would also like to be able to pause...
Since I have this kind of limited control, I wonder if it's an issue with the third party apps expecting a certain keycode? is there something that I could remap the button to that these apps would be expecting to get?
If anyone has ideas please let me know, and hopefully I can help someone with the remapping tip, which gives limited functionality to that button for me as of now.

BIXBY UPDATE: Turn of Bixby key

You get the option at the top to turn off the Bixby key, seemingly only the first time you open Bixby after updating
I turned it off and it still comes on by pressing the key so...
Bixby update is available in Galaxy App store
I got the update as well i do like the fact you can turn off the Bixby button because sometimes press it by mistake.

Thanks for the heads up! I disabled it, restarted and the bixby button doesn't do anything now! Perfect!
Package disable all bixby stuff. Disabling the button will continue having bixpy running in the background and using ram
Hope the developers of bxactions etc get the button remap to work with bixby button work boxy off, still like to have access to my camera through the button.

I've completely disabled bixby (single press & long press). The only way I can remind myself of this horrendous voice assistant is by resetting my default home launcher (it is Nova atm) and getting to bixby through the TouchWiz launcher.
Seems most people can only disable single press. What you have to do is go into bixby, hit settings, and disable bixby voice first. THEN disable bixby home launcher. Voila, your bixby button does nothing at all now.
Hope someone finds a way to make use of this button that is literally doing nothing now.
EDIT: ENABLE FLAWLESS GOOGLE ASSISTANT
After disabling bixby voice and bixby home, download bxactions and follow the steps in-app to enable "Control Mode". You'll need a PC to run a command, but the steps are super easy. Google assistant is flawless when pressing bixby button now. Couldn't be happier.
How are you guys turning off Bixby?? Is it done inside the app or grin settings?? I got it updated

Thanks I got it figured out. You've got to go thru the Bixby setup and it'll be up at the top. I've since got bx actions going in control mode and have that button mapped for Google assistant

I think it only works for Google assistant if I disable bixby voice (control mode) and try use bixby button for Camera I get a pop up saying I need to enable Bixby voice... hope developers can tweak things so all bixby functions can be disabled but the button can still be used for a range of actions (like camera).
Guess I need control mode... Because after disabling the button, nothing works
Cool, now i can turn this bixby thing off. Its annoying when accidentally pressed

Yes but very limited, with bxActions you can remap single, double, long press and more and also launch actions from lockscreen.
Like toggle flashlight when the screen is off with a double tap..
Had a great experience on it with my Note 9 so I immediately installed it on my SGS10+. It's working great.
Thanks for the feedback, working also fine here on S10
Is there no option to map bixby on long press? I am using Google Assistant on tap but I'd like to be able to use bixby on long press.
Bixby starts on long press by default, or what do you mean?

Awesome i will install when i get my s10 plus thanks!
Screenshot its buddy. It will go back once before taking the screen
That can happen on some apps if you use standard remapping on single press. You could take screenshot on long press, or unlock remapping over a PC and that problem will be solved.
Is it also possible to set Google assistant to it? This is not possible in stock remapping settings

Which bixby system apps can I safely remove without losing bxActions
Is there a way to have the physical button press launch one app- say the camera for example and then when on the home screen and you swipe to the bixby home panel- have that be something different such as Google Now?
Bought the paid version and did the PC unlock. This could be very useful for testing and executing scripts on the fly. Love the app!
