Hi, I am running an Android Nexus 5 updated to version 5.1 (LMY47I), and have an issue with the syncing of my phonebook to an Acura TLX. When I sync the contacts they are ordered and show LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME in the car even though the phone is set up to Firstname Lastname. When I was on 5.0.1 the contacts imported as FRISTNAME LASTNAME, but since updating to 5.1 and resyncing with the car, the import goes to the 'last, first' ordering even though the phone is set as first last. I have also changed the setting on my Nexus to show Last, First and back to First Last and it always syncs as ‘Last, First’ to the vehicle.
Also, I have called Acura client relations and was transferred to technical support. They stated that the contacts are pulled directly from how they are stored on the phone and sorting is not an option on the TLX.
At this time I believe it is possibly an issue with Android 5.1. Has anyone experienced the same or found a solution?
(Also, this issue applies to build LMY47D and LMY47I, but not 5.0.1 (LRX22C)).
Thanks!
I'm on that build and it's fine. Mines first, last, as set.

Good to hear it is working for some.
I have posted this topic on the another forum (for the car) and others have stated they are having the same issue with the Nexus 5 and the Nexus 6 on 5.1.
I have tried installing the stock image of 5.1, and also upgrading via the OTA from 5.0.1, either way the contacts display as Last, First once at 5.1.
In my testing I went going back to stock 5.0.1, synced with the car and the contacts did show correctly as First Last name, but as soon as I did the OTA to 5.1 it automatically resynced the contacts to the Last, First ordering.
Again the car manufacturer says the issue is not on their end, but not quite sure who to believe...
From what you u say it's obvious that the car is to blame.

Hi,
I'm having some trouble connecting my sensation with my car. I've just got a BMW with idrive that's fully up to date.
On BMW's website it says the sensation is well supported (defently with address book anyway) and the version tested is 1.45.401.2 (Android 2.3.4).
Everything connects and pairs fine, I can make calls, read emails and SMS but the address book doesn't work. If I watch the address book just after pairing, it all fills in fine (I've got about 200 contacts and they all show up) but after 15-20 seconds they all just dissapear.
I have tried flashing various different ROMs and as far as I can tell HTC Sense seems to be the culprit, cyanogenmod syncs the address book fine but doesn't support SMS or email sync (I'm happy without email but would like SMS)
oddly, flashing to stock 1.45.401.2 doesn't work.
This is my 3rd day of googling and reading forums... im starting to lose to will...
Anyone got any ideas?
Ah, figured out some more info on this.
If I wipe the phone (stock rom) and enter a normal contact in the phone it syncs with the car no problem, appears and stays forever.
If I then sync the phone with my exchange server, boom, it never works again. unless I delete the exchange account from the phone then un-then-re-pair.... the one contact stored in the phone magically works in the car again.
Fixed!
It all seemed to be caused by having spaces in the phone numbers. I removed all spaces from my contacts numbers and everything works perfectly now.
Posted the solution here for a sense of completeness.
What model & year of BMW do you have?
I ask because I have a 2007 335i, and I have not found any way to get contacts to sync with my car using any Sense ROM (including the stock ROM.) I do not sync contacts with Exchange; I only have created-on-phone contacts.
The car would sync perfectly with my old phones (an iPhone and a Nexus One, both stock and CM7), and will sync perfectly with the Sensation if I use an AOSP ROM like CM7, but if I install any Sense ROM, the car only acts as a headset -- I can use it to talk handsfree, but there's no dialing, contact sync, etc. at all.
Yeah, its a december 2011 320d (e92) with the second gen iDrive.
I'm sure you already have but have you tried removing spaces from phone numbers? or it might be worth double checking it, I know I missed a couple the first time I checked through them.
Past that all I can think is to remove anything unusual from the contacts... categories, labels ect. The notes field seems to be ok, I use that and it hasn't effected the contacts syncing.
So, I recently bought a car with bluetooth handsfreelink. And it synced my contacts (which is cool). But I noticed that some contacts appear to be missing for some reason.
My phone does have Google+ and Facebook (though I have not let it sync my facebook friends) installed.
My question is, how does the phone decide which contacts to make available via bluetooth? Sort of need to figure that our since one of the contacts that isn't available is my wife's!

If you are using JellyBean, it could be that you are experiencing a problem where car audio systems don't handle the new stack in 4.1.1 properly.
If you are on ICS, try unpairing and repairing a few times, you might also try requiring a prompt for phonebook access and see if you get a few prompts in a row. If you are running a stock ROM (not sure if this is ICS only or not), you should try disabling the PBAP service (running applications).
It is in fact running jellybean (stock version).
I suspect the reason is that some of the contacts couldn't be imported because they had some issues, I am wondering if there might be a log that articulates what the reason they were skipped might be?
Edit: I posted this after an hour of trying to fix it myself, and of course I solved the problem five minutes after posting it. Problem was that on the phone the entries were by default being made under a local calendar and not my Google account.
I'm having sort of a weird problem with calendar syncing. I use two android devices - my phone which is a Samsung Galaxy S3 (i9300 international version purchased overseas), and my tablet which is an Asus Transformer Prime (TF201), and Google Calendars. Events that I create on my phone do not upload to Google Calendars or to my tablet. However, events created on Google or on the tablet will sync to the phone - it's only the phone-created events that won't sync.
Before making this thread I googled around and didn't find much. I followed every step in http://support.google.com/calendar/bin/static.py?hl=en&page=ts.cs&ts=2819319 , but there was no effect. I've tested the phone on the cellular signal and on wifi, and I'm using the stock calendar.
The tablet has no problems, but both it and my phone are rooted and running stock 4.1.1. The only thing I can think of that could be causing this is the fact that I manually updated the phone to 4.1.1 with odin, and shows as being modified under Device Status.
Anyone have any ideas that I haven't tried yet?

Using Note 3, can't seem to find the "default" setting (OS 4.3) to get my S calendar to sync with google calendar.
Hi.
I have Lollipop stock on my nexus 5 and i'm having a problem with my contact list displaying on my car system. The list appears with the last name first. Exemple: On my phone´s contact list i have Bill Gates but on my car it appears Gates Bill, as with all other contacts.
This only happens on Lollipop. On KitKat i didn't have this problem.
Any idea how to solve this?
I have the exact same problem. Nexus 5 on 5.1.1 and Mazda 6 2013. It's really annoying!
Anyone knows if there's an option or hack to force the contacts to appear if order (First Name - Last Name) ?
Hi, I have just found out that it is also happening on another phone (LG G2) so I suspect it is do do with google contacts (perhaps the new contacts they have out). I have therefore asked the question in the Android section http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/google-contacts-repeatedly-download-25-t3114949. I wanted to delete this but do not know how. If somebody can, then please do so.
Hi,
I have been searching for a solution to this without luck. I have found others reporting more or less the same problem, but no solutions.
The manifestation of the problem means that I can not add new contacts. If I add one it stays there for a little while (until the next google account sync I suspect). I tried contacts sync fix and it told me there were 25,000 contacts. This, it seems is the limit in Android. However, checing on my google account I only have 902. Given that the limit has been reached I guess it is fair enough that it will not store new contacts.
However, I do not know why it keeps on downloading my contacts (or at least until the limit has been reached). I have reset the phone, but from the "backup and reset' menu in settings and now also from recovery (Cyanogen, the standard one), where I have wiped the cache too. All in vain.
I am not installing any apps at all except those that comes with Cyanogen.
I am running:
Cyanogen 12.0-YNG1TAS17L
Androdi: 5.0.2
Baseband is DI.3.0.c6.00230 and then a long sequence
Kernel is 3.4.67 from April 21
Build is LRX22G
I am 90% sure the problem was not there under CM 11.
Anybody got a solution or suggestions? It seems very strange to me that I am the (almost) only one having this problem
Thanks in advance.
Erik
