Is there not a notification LED for the Charge? You know, when you get a message or something? My Droid X had an LED indicator light that would flash until the phone was checked. For the life of me I can't seem to find where to enable/disable this? Please help.
It does not have a notification LED, quite disappointing for such a high priced phone. Just like the galaxy S2, even with its insane specs and high praises they still couldn't manage to put a notification LED, I'd rather have that then a front facing camera
You can use the free app NoLED if you would like a way to simulate having a notification LED
The led not being there has been a big con for me but if that's the worst I guess I can live with it. I would not reccomend using led "simulated" apps as your battery life is killed by them because of the screen being in the on state

Ya that is true, I'm also pretty sure it keeps your phone from sleeping since the screen is on which of course means even more battery drain. Just recommending a way to simulate the LED though I'm hoping someone makes an app to just have your back LED(for your camera) do a small flash every 15ish seconds, sure most people set their phones face down but still!
Missed Message Flasher works for me with few complaints.
NOLED I didn't care for.
What are the small circles up at the top of the phone on the right for? Photo sensors of some kind?

I'm thinking they are sensors to detect light and adjust your screen brightness and I know one of them detects when your face is in front of the phone while on a call to prevent the screen from staying on..
Anyone know of a hack or app that will enable the notification light when I plug in my Razr Maxx HD to charge? I am sick of having to check if its plugged in correctly when I have it in my car. My old bionic use to have a solid light that went on when it charged, so I always knew it was working.
I use an app called "light manager", however it cant get the colors right. IE: I select orange and get green.
Be ready to tweak it. It has options for most everything
Its called "notification light widget" made by Motorola to fix some issue with the RAZR HD. You can find it in the Google market.

I use light flow app from the market. They have a free and pay version the free one works great you can assign specific colors to contacts and more I see an option for charging as well

I use Light Manager and all colors work great on my phone. Like you, I wanted my light to show if my phone was charging when in sleep mode. Lots of colors to choose from and did exactly what I needed!
I'm fairly certain that my "green" LED is either burned out or the circuitry is no longer working properly. I know it's highly unlikely that LEDs burn out, but it seems to be. I noticed today that i wasn't getting any blinking lights when i got texts (green) but i am getting facebook notification blinks (blue). After much googling, i read all about the "restore" issues people had. I did several FDRs without restoring and even reflashed my firmware with no luck. Finally fed up, i tried testing settings with Light Flow. After trying red, green, blue, yellow, orange, and white. The only settings that made my LED work were blue and white, but the weird part was that both white and blue settings caused the LED to blink blue, but at least it blinks now.
Anyone else have anything like this happen? I've had the phone since it came out so i can't exchange it, i guess i'll just live with it until my upgrade. Just wondering if i'm the only one.....

Download LightFlow from the play store. The free version will support quite a few applications (the paid one supports more apps and has a few more features.) In any event, Lightflow allows you to set the color of the light for different apps, and it has a test feature which will cycle all the colors. On my phone, I can get green, red, blue, light blue, purple, red, yellow-ish, and a white/indigo-ish color. Not all the colors work, some default to a similar color.

I appreciate the reply, but it's clear you didn't actually read my post. I did all that with light flow. The only color that works is blue. So far in my research, i've found one other person that had a similar story where only his blue LED worked, But the thread ended with no solution and no one else had issues.

Hmm sorry about that -- missed that you were using Lightflow. So, the LED is not burned out because other colors work, as far as I know it's only one light up there, not one per color (I could be wrong about that though.) Have you tried a factory reset?

he said he tried multiple FDRs...FDR means factory data reset
Correct, several factory resets. The way LEDs work is that there has to be a different LED die for each color. So it's not technically just one LED. Even if it's one housing. Knowing what I know about LEDs, my guess is that it is an issue with the circuitry and not just a bad die in the LED. If this phone wasn't glued together for a watertight seal, I would open it up and investigate. But seeing as how the only problem I'm having is the color of the LED, I'll leave it alone so I don't break something else.

Sheesh - I'm really not scoring any points today, somehow I missed the FDR line too. Have you tried using RSD-Lite (or one of the RAZR HD tools) to flash everything back to stock?

Haha, you lost more points yet again.... yes in my original post I stated that I reflashed the firmware.
Also, I don't mean to sound like a know-it-all... but LEDs can only produce 1 color of light. Those RGB LEDs you speak of actually have a different die for each color. Even though it is in the same housing, it is controlled by 3 different inputs (circuits). That's what leads me to believe it's the circuit more so than having a die or two burned out.

Good grief! Anyway - yeah - I read more about those because I was curious, and you are correct, they appear to just house three separate circuits inside them.
So, yeah, I think it is a hardware problem now. Should be easy to get a replacement though, just have the Verizon person use Lightflow on a working phone...

I've had the phone since last October, I'm pretty sure it's too late to get a replacement, or is it? Also, I don't have the insurance on it.

Maybe not a direct replacement in a VZW store, but you should be able to -- the phone has a 1 year warranty from Moto.

Would I have to go through moto though, or can I go through vzw? I'm rooted but I can flash back to stock if I want to. The only concern I have is that if I get a replacement, it will most likely have the latest unrootable firmware. I don't want that either.
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD
Not sure - I've never done a warranty replacement before. Getting a refurbished one is a concern -- but I wouldn't worry too much about the firmware. If you search thorough here and droidrzr.com you'll find some posts from people who've been in this predicament. Supposedly people have successfully flashed back to the old rootable/unlockable firmware and then protected root and re-updated the phone via an OTA.
One year is standard i think
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
You have one year. I'd call up verizon. Hopefully they give you a decent replacement that isn't updated so you can unlock the bootloader (just in case you ever decide you want to have full access some day).
Crazy idea here but maybe you could try this. Go to play store, then my apps. Look at a Motorola app like smart actions. Click more by motorola. Install the notification light app. It's just a toggle. Add the widget to a home screen. Toggle the light off. Keep it off all day. Then try turning it back on and see what happens.

Well after looking up the teardown procedure and seeing that it actually is very easy on this phone, only about 2 minutes to disassemble this phone, I opened this bad boy up and discovered it is definitely hardware related. Pic below. Good news is that I can get the replacement part I need for $9 online. Then I don't have to deal with firmware issues or having moto or Verizon say it was my fault and charging me. Here's the pic.

Nice. Hope that fixes it. But I also hope if you ever need to send your phone in they don't complain. Oh well guess the warranty is almost up anyway...

Great! Which tools did you need? I want to do this too. Can you please post the link for where you got the replacement part from?

Not sure of I can post links, but if you search eBay for RAZR HD ear speaker, you can find it for $19.99 and free shipping from California. It'll be refurbished. The one I screen captured above from etrade supply was only $9 but it was $20 for shipping from China. So I went with the eBay one.
I used a single torx wrench (shown below) it's an XTD-6. It's all I had. But according to the teardown procedure, the specified tool you need is a T5 torx. I guess either will work.

Hi guys!
Iam having a problem with notification led diode. It doesnt work. I havent seen the light yet.
I just tried Light Flow app but it also wasnt able to light the led up.
So i assume that my phone is broken in that part and the diode just doesnt work on my Nexus 5.
Does anyone have some the same problem?

Yep its turned on.

Figured it would be but had to ask. Factory reset as a last resort maybe?

I installed Light Flow. Took a few minutes before I got any lights.
There's a test mode in light flow. Might be worth trying that too.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk 4
Test mode in LF didn't work for me. I was going to uninstall but then I noticed the battery charging light came on. Now all of the programmed lights in LF work for me. I have not retried the test light feature.
light flow might have just glitched up the led for a bit. If it stops working again, try clearing app data, or reinstall, or uninstall light flow altogether. It has been known to have some issues.
In light flow you have to turn off the screen after turning on test mode, if you haven't tried that already.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Yes, the screen MUST be off for the notification light to illuminate. In addition, at least for Light Flow, it can take several seconds for the notifications to light up, even when performing a test.
Same problem here and it's going to back for a refund. It was actually a replacement unit for the first one which had speaker issues.
I tried everything and never saw the light come on once while the first unit worked fine with the same settings.
try this
Hey guys I was having this same problem but I downloaded this app called notification light widget by Motorola and added it to my home screen activated it and my notification light has been working since just tuck the widget away on a side screen . its a good fix for now

With the moto g if you have low battery a red light appears near the proximity sensor So can people mod it for notification use or do something with it thank you
As far as i know moto g has only unicolor led and that is conposed of white color only. Might be some preproduction unit had rgb led but commercially available moto g are embedded with white led only - as reported by number of users aroubd globe.

It isn't a notification light that is sperate there is a fit near the proximity sensor that shows red on low battery when the screen is off they are 2 sperate lights I've noticed this and maybe there can be mods on it

The proximity sensor works with a weak red light, maybe that is what you see in a really dark place.
