Hi, I am running cm12 for moto g. I am using the latest nightly of cm12. My problem is that whene I insert my OTG, it doesn't show up in any file manager. It only shows up in file manager only after rebooting my phone. After removing the OTG and then inserting it again it doesn't show up in any file manager until I reboot it again which is really annoying. Also there is no mount and unmount option under storage section in settings. Please help

Problem
So i was running a slim rom and suddenly my device started rebooting constantly.
What i Tried
Wiping everything (System/Data/Cache/SDCard) booting into recovery and put jellyshot rom zipfiles on the sd card.
What happens now
When i unmount USB and try to flash the new rom, the files (jellyshot rom) aren't on the sdcard. When i mount USB again they also aren't on the card.
I have repeated this constantly and can't make any sense of it.
Is my device "bricked" ?
Thanks in advance.

Basicly whenever i MOUNT USB, delete and add files, the next time i MOUNT USB, the files are back in their original state. Known behaviour?
This is definitely not known behavior. To me it looks like you are getting write permission on the drive once you mount. So it looks to you as if file are getting deleted or files are getting added. But once you unmount/mount again, the changes are not done. It could be a problem with the recovery that you are using. May be try to flash a different recovery in fastboot mode.
Don't you have any other ROM on SD card to flash & boot. If you can boot in to the ROM, then may be you can see if you are able to correctly use SD card and copy a new ROM before you start wiping.
try format your sd from pc

I am able to boot into the rom (with constant errors popping up) and turn on/off usb storage but the effect is the same.
Mount ->Change files ->Unmount -> Mount -> Nothing has changed

No Mobile Network or USB Connection!!!
Hey I am pretty new to rooting but I have a major problem. I recently rooted my Samsung Nexus 4G, flashed clock work mod recovery and installed a version of Jelly Bean I found in on some website. But my problem is that I began to have problems with the version of Jelly Bean I download so I tried to flash back to stock but something went horribly wrong. Now my phone does not have mobile network and when I connect it to a computer, the computer will not recognize it. Bluetooth, WiFi and SD Card still works but I cannot find a way to get my Mobile Network to come back. Please Help!!
I'll install SDK, Odin, put the phone in download mode and flash a factory image. Just saying

Hey! I had a similar problem with my i9023. I couldn't Access my files through the PC after flashing slim beam. I downloaded JellyShot and marmite kernel with my device, without using PC. Then i found those files in sdcard/download, flashed with no problems. Everything seemes to be ok now.

Could you provide us with more information ?
Did you change something ( anything ? ) right before this problem started ?
Which ROM are you running ?
Can you copy a file to the SD Card using a file manager such as ES File Manager ?
Hi, I experienced some issues with permissions with my HTC One Mini (M4) , I searched but I never found the correct answer. I solved this problem thus:
You will need a TWRP installed;
A Pen Drive;
A USB OTG Cable
Enter in the recovery→Format All Data (This will erase all of your phone, if you wants make a back up, save in your computer)
Now, you will go to Advanced→File Manager→System and erase this folder
Put your ROM and Gapps in the Pen Drive and conect this in the OTG Cable and your phone
Go to Install and select and choose the option OTG
Install your ROM
This was the only way I found for to solve this problem, sorry for my English, I'm learning and I hope everyone understands.
Hi Guys,
I have a really strange problem with my storage on my nexus 5.
Im running latest cm12.1 nightly.
This problem started as i wanted to install some bigger apps on my device.(like Hotman go, ormini motor racing). Both of these app need permission to write on external storage.
So during the installtion both of these apps fail to install. Okay anyways i can live without some games on my device.
Some minutes ago I tried to load some music on my device via mtp. my laptop and pc both regonise the storage and I can browse the whole directory. So ..as i starting to copy any data the explorer frezzes and does not copy any of the data.(not important if 2mb or 250mb)
Even creating new folder or renaming them leads to a frezz of the current explorer. I wanted to see the storage options built in . now the odd part. if i scroll down the two options to mount or delete the storage are not clickable. Is this normal??
What i tried:
-chainfires app for mounting/dismounting storage ---> app force closes
-fix permission---> nothing
-viewing if storage is mounted via TWRP ---> data is mounted
Does anyone experienced this problem?!
greetings

Have you tried doing a factory reset?
Hi guys,
So I repartitioned samsung galaxy s2 for more internal storage but after that I couldnt use my SDCard. I could still flash ROMS and GApps but instead of selecting the /sdcard0 directory in order to flash ROMS i had to select /sdcard1 after that. If I try to open /sdcard0 it says it can't be mounted. I've tried flashing the default pit file and it wont do anything either. I've tried CM12.1 (which I had no problems with before repartition), and reflashed it several times. At the moment I have CM13.0 and the SDCard is listed in Storage & USB settings but below it says "portable storage" and "sdcard0 corrupted". My main problem is that I can't download things on the phone because it says "no external storage available" even in the gallery (camera app doesn't even start). I would be fine with just being able to download images from the internet as Google Play works well (but if i have to download additional content for games they don't download for the same reason above)
Hi,
If you let me know what model number of S2 you have, I can move your thread to your device section so the experts there can help! :good:
Thanks!
I use FAT32 storage on my USB OTG storage. On lollipop i was able to delete or copy files to the storage but since I've updated to Marshmallow recently, i only have read access.
Any idea how to get around this?
I've tried the stock file manager as well as File Manager app.
I had same problem with mine when I used my mac to format usb, partition map was GUID instead of master boot once i changed that worked ok. Not sure if that's any help to you though.

Have you ever turned off USB debugging?

I have no idea what GUID or master boot is. But i did format it on Windows using 'guiformat'. Something I found on the web and have used previously many times.

I just tried that and it didn't make a difference.

I think I found the solution, I noticed that my S6 running marshmallow, when I plug my otg to the phone, I accidentally made the ES File Explorer the default, I can't access the OTG via Samsung's default File Manager. So I went to Applications, go to ES File Explorer, clear defaults... plug my OTG Again, this time don't choose ES File Explorer, if it pops out, cancel it. Then the Samsung's File Manager will now recognize the OTG, and boom, I can now use my OTG properly via Samsung's File Manager... Try it out...
It appears i HADN'T tried the file manager app (i thought i did). That app DOES allow deleting. It's just the stock samsung file explorer that doesn't allow write/delete access.
Problem solved.
Well. It looks like file manager intermittently has write access. Very odd.
It's stopped now. So i guess i did previously try it.
Very frustrating.
