Just got the phone 2 days ago, downloaded a number of apps from Android Market, moved the ones to SD cards that I could, but after a while, a lot of them fail to start with the error " has stopped unpectedly" when I try to launch. Used same apps on my 3G slide without issues. Have done charging of the phone during that time... And I'm using the same SD card I used in the 3G, so don't thinki its the card..
Any ideas out there. An issue with the phone??
I cleared the problem by remounting the SD card via the settings command. So still a question of is there an issue with the phone losing the SD mount or possible I need to try another SD card. If it continues, I will try another card...
I've had my sdcard randomly unmount on me a couple of times.. It's happened on both my first and second MT4GS, but it's very infrequent.
Doesn't seem to be ROM dependent, although i've been running stock modded my way for a little while now. I think the last time it happened to me was about 8 or 9 days ago, and it's happened 3 times since I got one in the first week of august.
I had it happen to me the first time before we had S-OFF for the phone, so it's nothing any of us did.
I wasn't worried enough about it to look into why or do something about it...though I was keeping track of how much it happened in case that changed. Now that I see i'm not alone maybe we should see what's going on and if it's something to worry about.
I've had a different memory card in each time it happened, one PNY and two SanDisk cards ( 8 and 16 gig). I don't remember what I was doing when they happened, or how long the phone had been on.
I don't mount/unmount the card manually while the phone is on, the only time I ever swap them is when no battery is in the phone. ( overkill, I know, but having seen someone pull a hard drive from a running x86 machine...I just have the methods i'm comfortable with.)
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, see about throwing some details about it here.
Thanks for the post. Its been good ince I remounted yesterday. But when I thought about it, I did remove the card with the phone powered off and put it back in beofre the problem happened yesterday. Now the apss were working after that, but stoppedworking later on then I remounted. So it could be related to the card removal/replacement. I will not remove the card anymnore aand will see if the problem occurs again..
FYI - Im using a 16GB sandisk
Depending on which apps you moved to the sdcard that could be your problem entirely. I know if i try to move system apps or widgets or something like that it'll cause it to fc every time. i try to keep as many on my phone as possible except for games and crap that aren't in any way essential to the phones functionality and i know i'm not going to need access to very frequently since putting things on the sdcard affects their speeds.
Hi
so i was having problems earlier (restart + factory resets, multiple force close errors etc) - service centre tried twice to flash to other ROMs but errors kept repeating. I finally took a photo of the 'internal SD card unexpectedly removed' error and showed it to them - they replaced the mainboard.
Now earlier, my Internal SD card space was 1.52 GB; after replacing, it is now 11.73GB ! surprised as to why they'd do such a thing. this has happened with a few other users too as ive read on this forum.
also theyve put me on 2.3.6 GB so no further upgrades necessary. wifi, 3g, gps all work now. Just got the phone back an hour ago, so hoping the restarts and force closes are done with.
Good for you brother
that's the policy Samsung follows.....customer shows up with "bricked" phone, shows a n00by face, and Samsung rewards them with the motherboard from another version of i9003 as they've run out of 4Gb ones
That was not bricked phone, But a with motherboard memory issue.
Had my RazrHD for about 3 weeks so far, about 5 days ago started getting random notifications that the internal SD card was removed unexpectedly. Checking files/SD card shows card is unavailable, not just a notification error.
Restart has always fixed to this point. Using a non-generic 32gb Class10/UH1 (think UH1 is right) card.
Tried putting in a different 16gb class 6 card I had laying around, got the error after about 6 hours.
Anyone else experienced this or have any insight? Think Verizon would send me a new phone?
I had the same problem (but with a Sandisk 16GB MicroSDHC Memory Card, Class 4) -- it was driving me crazy and was convinced it was either the card or a faulty phone. Tried reformatting both on computer and in phone to no avail, re-inserting it several times didn't help -- it would stick for a couple of hours then I'd get the error -- it would appear random.
It turned out that the card wasn't inserted fully. What I did was insert it by hand then push (jammed it really) the card in with the flat edge of the the small tool that came with the phone. One in the tray inserted all the way and is flush with the edge of the phone. Hope this works for you.

I have had my S7 since pretty much the beginning, I was fortunate enough to receive mine fairly early compared to others. Along with purchasing my new phone, I got a Samsung 64GB EVO Class 10 SD card to take advantage of the expandable storage. Everything had been going find until earlier today. I noticed that I got a notification that my SD card was corrupt, I didn't think it was that big of a deal as I didn't have very much data on the card as of yet so I clicked the option to format it. The phone seemed to be having issues reading the actual card as it couldn't seem to format it, an error kept popping up saying that the command had failed. I then put the SD card into my laptop to see if I'd have any more luck with it, and sure enough windows told me that the only way the card could be read was if it was formatted. After formatting the card through my computer, I put it back into my phone. It worked for about 5 minutes or so before telling me it was corrupt again, I'm not exactly sure where to go from here.
I had this Samsung 64GB EVO Class 10 Micro SDXC Memory Card with Adapter (MB-MP64DA/AM) from amazon with my S4 with no problems since it went on sale back in December. Last Friday I got the same message that it was now corrupt and I need to format it. My computer cant see it and I have some intense data recovery software that cant help either. Since those little SD cards have a 10 year warranty I got on the phone to Samsung. I spoke with a Samsung Galaxy expert and they advised me to call their Micro SD support team at 1-800-726-7864. I'll call them tomorrow and report back what they say.
Prolly got a fake from amazon
Amazon do insist they don't sell fake cards, however I have had the exact same problem with the exact same memory card, also bought off amazon. I've used this card in a few different phones with no issue, however upon installing it in my GS7, within a few days I got the same error message as described here. I have contacted Amazon and have had a replacement card (same one) and will see how it goes. I'm on about day three so far with no apparent issues. Tick Tock Tick Tock.....
I'll probably call them up also.. but I think I'll see what happens with yours before I just destroy another SD card
Just got off the phone with Samsung. They're sending me a RMA form to fill out through my email for a replacement. After the whole amazon fake SD card fiasco they're going through they are being very helpful so far. If you can return to amazon it will probably be quicker but I am at day 100 or so with this card.
I think I have the same problem. I have a Samsung card also (not evo) and have used it in several phones without a problem until now. In my case the card corrupts at reboot. I managed to f around and somehow the card was readable again (after re-inserting several times). However on the latest reboot I the phone no longer detects the card at all.
I doubt I have a fake card as I have been using it for over a year now and almost filled the capacity (64GB). I even formatted it when I first inserted into the GS7.
I have since ordered a new card but I hope this phone is not going to be killing cards!
RMA received. Samsung wanted a jpg or pdf of sales receipt and a pic of the back of the card. Card will be mailed to Samsung at my expense ($2 ish) and a new unit will be sent out. Fingers are crossed that the fast charge tech isn't sending card killing voltage spikes through the phone.
Just a quick update guys, in case it helps anyone, but my new card replaced from Amazon is working OK so far without issue.
Update, whilst it hasn't killed my SD card, I've just had an update and after that it refuses to write to any memory card I have. So I'm returning it tomorrow, it will read OK, but not write to.
I'm using a samsung pro+ 64GB card with my S7 and that annoying SD card notification keeps popping out. Sometimes I could see another notification said SD card removed/unmounted unexpectedly then the annoying notification. I've tried using an old 32GB TF card and I've never seen this annoying notification.
My guess is that S7/S7E have some compatibility issue with even Samsung's own newer and faster SD cards.
I'm waiting anxiously for an OTA hoping this is a software issue. I hope my S7 won't corrupt my SD card.
Update: Just received my replacement micro XD from Samsung in less than 2 weeks, very cool. I like their new usb card reader, very slick. Well see how long this lasts. I also just had a OTA update to the S7. Lets see what they fixed.
BlueT
Same issue
Exactly same scenario as bensto23 first described, same SD card, however....I replaced that 64GB Samsung EVO with a Patriot 128GB and after about 2 weeks the same message popped up. But when I put this card in my laptop it couldn't see a problem (the Samsung was unreadable). So the Patriot went back in and everything was good until about a week later....same thing. S7 says the card is corrupted but it's not and works fine after removing and replacing. Haven't had time to call Samsung support but obviously this looks like an ongoing issue. So frustrating since this phone has been so flawless otherwise.
My S7 is in for repair as I type this. It's 6 weeks old. I had a 64GB SD card that I had used in my S5 for 18 months with no issues. I didn't have an S6 due to lack of SD slot and not waterproof. At 3 weeks old, the 64GB card developed a problem. I removed it from my S7, put it in my laptop, only to find it was corrupted, and I couldn't do anything with it. I put it down to being one of those things, and bought a 128GB SD. 3 weeks in again, and exactly the same fault! It is a hardware issue with the S7. I put my 32GB SD card in from my LG Leon, and the S7 wouldn't read that either. Be interesting to see what Samsung will do about replacing cards that have been destroyed by a phone!
Think i might be facing the same problem. When i put in a Sd card my phone freezes up a couple of times a day and without a sd card it running fine. I even think it messed up my first sd card because even after a format i cant write files bigger then 1 gb onto the card without getting a error on the computer. Also i can only do a quick format and if i do a full/long one it will eject the drive and fails every time. Im to scared to try a new sd card and think ill send this one back for warranty.
corrupt sd card
i have same problem with A7(2016) but i use 64GB U3 kodak SD card. it works fine until last week. i saw that i cant play musics so open memory by ES file Explorer and it says that empty. but when connect it to my loptop it had no problem and i find some files that recently created and remove files with 0 byte size. then connect memory to my phone it works nice but some day later the sd corrupts again and i repeat every thing i do last time and it work but sometime later corrupt again. i am confused how i can stop this cycle
help if can please
sorry my english language is not good
Every phone I've had, every forum for that phone, complains of issues with Samsung cards, I would never touch Samsung cards. I've never had an SD card corrupt or fail but then i've never bought a Samsung card.
Got the same problem. Every time I reboot or unmount the external sd-card, the card becomes "corrupted". When I put the card in my PC it's just fine. I can read and write to the card.
I've got the 128gb sd card from Samsung (got it for free with the purchase of the phone).
Getting sick and tired of having manually backup and restore to my SD-card when I reboot my phone. Does anyone has a solution for this?
**EDIT
This must be software related, since when I do not reboot, the SD-card works perfectly fine. It only happens when I reboot or unmount.
had the same problem in my s7, it turned out for me the culprit is when I enable the pics saving to extsd option in camera. this corrupts my extsd.
before extsd it worked perfectly fine for days and weeks and survived plenty of reboots in the S7 (and in my previous phones as well), but as soon as I enabled the pics saving from camera to extsd option in the s7, at next reboot the message about corrupted camera came out. I can replicate this problem with these exact steps, so it is 100% sw issue for me, and related to that option in camera settings... if I use my intsd for camera pics, everything works just fine, I can see and access all my other content in the extsd etc.......
I got my new S7 (Samsung gave me another one for the same issue). I have no more SD card notifications at all. Not even when I reboot the phone. Yesterday (again) I was listening to music (a set of 2 hours long) from my SD card. I started to look at pictures (again) at the same time. After 40 mins or so, my phone stopped the music and stopped being able to read my SD. Everything froze and I had to reboot. Then, again, a few mins later (listening to music and looking at pictures), it did it again. On the second time, I was not able to reboot the phone using the power button (keeping pressure for 10 seconds). I had to do it using the volume down/home/power. The phone screen was totally black and there was no way to unfreeze it. My notification light was flashing blue (as I had new emails and text), but the phone was not responsive at all.
It seems like Samsung just removed the SD notification as a whole in the new phone but did not fix the issue.
For those who don't have the issue, before commenting, I would appreciate if you could listen to music and look at your pictures at the same time (all from the micro SD card) for at least 30-40 minutes.
I strongly believe that ALL phones have this issue, but that those who don't just have not access pictures while listening to music (demanding on the SD card reading). Do it if you can... and see if it creates problems. And let me know once you did the above. Thanks.
I think your Sdcard have bad sector. Buy new original sdcard

I have done this before. When I got the phone in the first place, I thought it could have been my SanDisk micro SD. It still does work perfectly well on my s5. Then I purchased a Samsung 64gb. It did the same thing. I have reformatted both cards on multiple occasions both on my pc and within the s7. Both SD works perfectly fine with my s5. Also, I forgot to mention. When I contacted samsung about my first s7, I had to send the phone for repair. The diagnosis was "faulty motherboard". They replaced it. When the phone came back, same issue. I contacted Samsung again and they shipped me a brand new device. Same issue.

UPDATE: Before every body comments, I am a computer/smartphone savy. I flashed new ROMS on all my S1, S2, S3, S4, almost on a daily basis. And Yes, I did 1) purchase a bran new Samsung evo SD card, thinking it could have been a defect with my Sandisk SD card and 2) I did reformat both on PC and within the phone on multiple occasions and 3) I did factory reset the phone on multiple occasions. I have done EVERYTHING possible... Just trust me about this.
What's you device dual & single sim

Single SIM.
There are hardware issues with some early batches of S7s. The only fix is a new phone. Keep harassing them for replacements until you get one that works.
I got lucky, my second S7 is working perfectly with the same SD card that wouldn't work in the previous phone. (There's still wifi and LTE issues with this phone I'm working through with Telus.)
Others have had to get a 3rd or 4th before they got one that worked.
Formatting the SD card using exFAT on a PC makes things work better, although broken phones will still have issues.

I have to kindly disagree with you on this. My first phone was a pre order one. I just got this new one still same issue... Download the app phone info samsung. It will tell the place and date of the phone.
Can you guys download the app Phone Info Samsung from the app store? it will tell you where (mine if vietnam) and the date it was produced (mine is Feb 26). My first one was Vietnam Feb 12. I did the test on another similar tread. Lots of people provided me with their info. Lots of them had Vietnam and around same date as my first one and MOST (not all) of them had no issues. But they did not do the full test re: music plus pictures. It seems like the phone cannot handle to much from SD at the same time. And no its not the SD card the problem.

Korea, Feb 10.
Mine is AT&T version. I used to have SD card notification problem, sometimes I can see "SD card removed unexpected".
I'm using Samsung Pro+ 64GB card, and the problem is gone after I installed April update. I can still see the notification after reboot or if I manually unmount/remount so I guess Samsung didn't just remove the notification entirely.
While I still had the problem, I tried another old Class 10 32GB TF card, and I never saw the problem using that card.
I moved several large game apps (I play them from time to time) to SD card after the problem is gone and I never see any unusual thing.

Same (2016.02.06), made in vietnam. SM-G930F Black (Exynos). I've got the phone ~2 days ago. Got the sandisk microSDXC UHS-I ultra 64gb.
No issues so far...
