I'm unable to wipe my cache from recovery. Has anyone else encountered this?
My phone is a 6603 model. I've done the root for LB by downgrading to fw .93 and I've installed the dual recovery. After that, I deodexed and zipaligned the system. After flashing the new system through recovery, I tried to clear the cache and dalvik but it hangs on the cache part.
After letting it sit for 10 minutes I just did a virtual battery pull to turn it off. I tried to clear it again but encountered the same issue. I even tried with the other recoveries (twrp, cwm, phils) but they all do the same. So did I miss something, is recovery not working completely, or do I need to completely start over with a stock rom (if flashing a stock rom recreates the cache partition)?
Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Hi guys. Now it seems i am stuck here.As the title says i can't flash a rom completly..because of me or because of the recovery idk....
What i do to flash a rom?Simple:Click on Wipe 'em all then i flash the rom i want.Every install ends too quickly. So when i click info (to check all my partitions everything is untouched but system has more than 260 mb free.I don't want to revert to stock so pls help me.
P.S. I have 4 ext recovery touch (latest) and a ext4 filesystem.
I had to read this a couple of times to try and understand,
however,
If in the event that a rom isn't flashing correctly, then its assumed that you aren't formatting or wiping the phone/device correctly.
I use clockworkmod recovery, however formatting these things on a clean new installs works for me every time.
Wipe data factory reset
wipe dalvik cache
wipe data
wipe cache
If you do not wipe these things you will effectively be flashing over the top of an existing rom.
For instance you wouldn't re-install Windows without formatting the drive. Its the same principle.
I hope that helps in some way.
try in this way http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1257731.
what rom do you want to flash?
Hey everyone, I need help for my Xoom 3G MZ601, I just rooted it and flashed EOS' rom and I'm stuck at bootanimation. I'm new to rooting and flashing custom roms for tablets, its different in phones.
When you say you are stuck, what have you tried to do? Have you tried to get back into your custom recovery? If you can, you could try to reflash your rom and gapps after wiping cache and dalvik cache. You would have your system wiped when you unlocked, but you could wipe again before reflashing...that might help.
Yes, I wiped everything, I did this 5 times and the same thing happens, stuck in bootanim.

1. Do you have a backup of your stock rom? if you have a backup and recovery works you should be able to recover your stock system and everything will be allright.
2. If you don't have a backup enter this site motodev site (i can't post any links) download correct firmware for your device and flash every part of downloaded rom via fastboot.
I hope it will help you
It seems like your recovery img is the culprit, try downloading eos with goomanager..
try; adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery eos-recovery-r6.img http://goo.im/devs/teameos/recoveries/wingray/eos-recovery-r6-softkeys.img or http://goo.im/devs/teameos/recoveries/wingray/eos-recovery-r6.img
adb reboot recovery
So uhh, I unlocked the bootloader.
Flashed CWM Recovery.
and now I was on the point to install a rom..
factory wipe + cache wipe
format system
flash rom (tried cwm and Beanstalk)
flash gapps ("Gapps_Standard" from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2012857) (also tried those by developers)
wipe dalvik
reboot > bootloop.
Also tried to wipe everything again.
well, no luck
keep getting bootloop.
help please?
P.S.
I know how to flash a rom...
P.P.S
Moto G 4.4.2 Repack (stock) works.
But no wifi...
Me too bro....

For no-wifi problem try to flash the rom from page 9 in repack thread. Work for me.
Hi, this is the first android device I have played with so naturally I managed to mess it up.
The problem is with an Iconia A510, wrong forum but didnt find a Q&A for A510 so I tried here instead.
I rooted and installed CWM recovery. The custom firmware I have tried or stopped during boot and rebooted the device. Booted for 10-20 seconds, I see the animated logos before it reboots.
I upgrade with:
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
advanced -> format /system
advanced -> format /data
advanced -> format /cache
install zip from sdcard -> external sdcard
Am I doing something wrong with the upgrade? Can I upgrade CWM from inside CWM so I can try the latest Android version? Is there a firmware version that will work?
Info:
Files from: acer shreps fr
CWM version: CWM Recovery v6.0.1.9 by NoThrills for A510 tablets. Apparently can try KitKat with it, so only tried older Android.
All installed OK but stopped during boot:

Thanks for the tip. I tried wiping the usual suspects, flashing a CM rom and then flash data and dalvik cache. Same thing; started booting, the CM logo comes up and starts spinning before it freezes and reboots.
I'll play around a bit more. Tried the 'fix permissions' in CWM recovery, no go.
Solved it. Formatted everything except external_sdcard, flashed with AOKP and booted fine. Magic!
The Wifi on my phone wasn't turning on, even after factory reset, so I reflashed stock ROM via Odin (v3.07)
I got stuck in a bootloop, and after factory reset via the stock recovery + wipe of cache partition, it was still stuck.
I then re-flashed the stock ROM. Still stuck.
Tried using Kies 3, with the firmware upgrade and installation tab. Said something about not supporting my phone when I was prompted to plug it in. (SM-G355H; Samsung Galaxy Core II Duos)
I then found an unofficial version of CWM v6 for my phone (there's no official support), and quickly flashed that (via Odin 3.09; which is what I use from this point on), forgetting that my phone was no longer rooted. I wiped davlik cache and data. Still stuck. Then I rooted my phone. Stuck.
Then I reflashed stock ROM (this time, I downloaded from another website) (to test my luck, I tried seeing if simply a factory reset and cache wipe would work. It did not) rooted my phone, and flashed CWM. Wiped davlik cache. Still stuck.
By the way, when I wipe davlik cache it says:
Warning: no file_contexts
E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]
Davlik Cache wiped.
Any ideas on what to do now? I can't send it to a manufacturer / repair store where I live. I'm thinking maybe I should untick Auto Reboot and/or F. Reset Time when flashing, use an earlier version of Odin or the ROM itself, or maybe there is something I can do with ADB? I'm not very familiar with it, but I'm more than willing to learn. I just need some direction...
Update: Flashed with Auto Reboot unticked. Still in bootloop.
Flashed with same ROM, different country. Still in bootloop.
Alright, I fixed it by using Kies, via firmware upgrade and installation. You have to ignore where it says that your device is not supported, and just leave it to download. If you get stuck on the setup screen like I did, try cache wipe + factory reset. If it doesn't work flash an earlier version of the firmware. You might be using the wrong region (It's not always your country), use Kies to check. When it tells you what pda/ modem / csc it wants to update the region will be in parentheses ( eg ACR). Use all of them possible
