So i was on stock 4.4.4 with root and cwm recovery.
got notification for 5.0.2 update, i reflashed stock recovery wipe user data & cache and unrooted my phone through super user app.
i downloaded the update and phone automatically flashed it through recovery, after that phone is not booting up stuck at moto M logo and keeps on restarting.
i just want to know that how can i check if the bootloader is updated or not and any safe method to flash stock firmware again wihout Hard Bricking it .
any suggestion are welcomed , i can boot phone in recovery and bootloader mode
Do you know what version you had before? The bootloader should have a version number on it and date. Like version 41.13 2014-06-16. If the date is more recent than when you got the phone, the bootloader was probably updated.
I would suggest you flash a Stock Firmware using Fastboot, it would be the safest way I can come up with.

Okay so I unlocked my bootloader for my Moto G, and when It rebooted it said android was updating apps and then all the processes stopped working. It booted into the android startup but I couldn't get any processes running so it wouldnt work. I tried to reboot and now android doesn't even boot up. Should I flash a custom recovery right now and then wipe??? I haven't done anything to the phone other than carrier unlock and bootloader unlock. please help
Should I try this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542219 , or is it too risky right now? I'm planning to restore it to another stock firmware anyways.
I had kitkat 4.4.4 stock rom with CWM and root. I messed with skinning apps and lost navigation and status bars so i was able restore to 4.4.4 stock rom but phone wont re-root nor load cwm / twrp recoveries. Every time i try pushing recovery via Moto tool or fast boot the phone reboots. same thing with root.
I was able to install and old version of TWRP but that caused a boot loop.
Is there a low level format or linux command line / DFS guide i can use to restore it to "new out of box state"?
Did you locked your bootloader again?
Some tutorial to restore stock ROM include command to lock bootloader
Check that.
I pushed an old version of chainfire SU via fastboot and flashed newest version CWM recovery through Flashify app.
Removing the boot animation gave time to side load kernal / radio and wipe dalvik cache.
Is this to state there is a way to root the CDMA Verizon with 4.4.4 ?
Hello everyone. So I was updating CM12.1 to the latest nightly (4th of July) and when it finished flashing, it rebooted mid-boot, and when booted into 5.1 it said something about "encription failed" and told me to factory reset. So I went to factory reset it, and my CWM recovery was gone. The only thing that happened when I went into recovery is that the spinning-thing Andy popped up for 0.5 seconds again and again. I tried flashing the entire firmware again (stock 5.1) but no help.
I can access the bootloader and input fastboot commands.
I would give more system information, but now I don't know what the hell this phone's running.
moto g XT1039 cid7
Was running CM12.1
Was using CWM-6.0.5.0-peregrine recovery
Thanks for the help.
EDIT: FIXED
So, in order to fix it, i had to install stock firmware one or two times until it worked. You can get your corresponding 4.4/5.1 stock firmware from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/4g-development/xt1039-moto-g-4g-stock-firmware-kxb21-t2805619 If you install it and it doesn't go past the "Bootloader unlocked" screen, try flashing the stock firmware a few more times until it works.
Hope it helps!
Hi!
I need your help. I have Moto G LTE xt1039. It was unlocked and rooted with stock recovery. I was running stock 5.1 and got OTA with security fix. While updating the phone hang on "bootloader unlocked" screen. Now I cant'n boot. I can boot to bootloader, but to to recovery.
Tried to flash available 5.1 with mfastboot, but there were errors flashing gpt.img and, as far as I remember, boot.img. Installed TWRP now. AS far as I can see in TWRP there is null size /system partition. I think this is an issue. If I try to boot the screen hangs on "bootloader unlocked" screen.
I did try to flash stock 4.4 with stock recovery. It doesn't boot. The screen is black and nothing happens.
Could anyone, please, help me? The hardware is working and flashable, but I can't make it boot
Solved by flashing firmware from http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/4g-development/rom-stock-motorola-4g-lollipop-rom-t3142816 using TWRP :good:
My phone has TWRP installed, is rooted with Xposed installed. The Marshmallow update was accidentally started and now my phone keeps rebooting into TWRP recovery by itself.
Is there an easy way to just cancel the update process? Or if I must go through with it now, do I simply flash stock recovery and let the update proceed? And can I use the recovery.img file from a stock rom meant for Sprint even though I'm on Virgin Mobile?
Thanks.
Clear caches and reboot... than don't accept any OTA, ever.
