My text notification will not show up on my Gear 2 watch anymore after the new firmware. What setting do I have to have to set my texts to show up on my watch. I get phone call notification on it.

I've had the same problem. SaProviders stops all the time too and drains the crap out my battery if I don't trick it into restarting again.
When SaProviders stops I kill the app completely then open the Gear app, go into settings, and select the reply template option for my messages which seems to kick SaProviders into gear again usually without a force close. Unless I move out of range of my phone which definitely messes the connection up even when it reconnects and then I have to manually to the trick just mentioned.

Which of the many samsung apps are you killing? The default Samsung gear app? And how are you killing it without a force close? I get the Saprovider warning after a reboot so no apps are in my recent apps. I went and force closed the main Samsung Gear app and then went into settings and under the Language and Input I tried to click either "Text input methods" or "Edit text templates" and the "Unfortunately, saprovider has stopped" Do you know any other methods to get into the templates or how to close the Samsung Gear app or should I close other gears apps like, gear plugin, gearModule, goproviders, HostManager, Samsung Accessory Service, SASystemProviders, Update gear software. Thanks for the help.

To kill the app I just use the built in Task Manager on the Note 3 and just hit the Clear Memory button under the RAM tab.
Sorry it took so long to reply.

Alright, so I just got the new update and I can't seem to get notifications.
When swiping to the notification screen I see a gear logo with the text: "Manage Notifications"
When I click on it it says I need to check my phone but nothing happens.
Gear manager is up-to-date
Also no update for the accessory app.

Bump. Same here
Gear s2 notificaciones me pasa igual
Tengo tu mismo problema luego de actualizar el Gear s2 a la última versión no logro que notifique después todo funciona perfecto menos las notificaciones si sabes algo dejame saber
I have the same issue after update....
But it becomes normal after one night.
I thought the same. But with my screen on on my phone, all it opens is your notification in the gear app. You can go check which ones you want the watch to receive
yep same thing. i wonder if it's a bug or some sort of glitch i hope it will get a fix soon
Same issue. After the latest update everything works perfectly for a few hours, then the notifications stop being sent to the watch.
I reinstalled everything on the phone yesterday, got it working, but when I turned it back on today (I turn it off at night) I get no notifications again.
The manage notifications link is a new feature of the firmware, it just opens the list of apps to notify you on the Gear app.
It’s going to be trial & error to figure out what apps pass thru correctly. Textra for one does, but if you set the settings to not to show txt message under privacy, then you do not get the notification. Plus, if you select too many of your apps for notifications, you might not get the desired effect.
Also, for overnight you can set it for Do Not Disturb (DND) to avoid notifications. It’s worked for me.
But everything was working perfectly before the updates. I'm guessing it's a bug with the Gear plugin.
I'm using a Zenfone 2 btw. Please refer what phone you use to narrow it down.
EDIT: It's suddenly working again after not working all day. Didn't do anything.
i am having sort of the same issues, i think.
I get all my messages, notifications that are checked off.
However, since the Gear manager app updated, i do not receive the message to my watch while phone is active, screen on, playing game etc....
There used to be a setting that said, "receive notifications while phone is active" this is no longer an option. Does anyone have an idea how to make that happen again. I have searched every menu of the gear app. Think i might just remove the app, and then reinstall the old one, but have a feeling that i may have to reset watch.
I can't even get the update I wonder if Samsung has took it down?
After the update I stopped receiving notifications. I restored the watch, tried everything in the notification manager and nothing happened. Then I turned offline mode on and off and it started working. But I turned off the watch over night and got the same issue again. Until now nothing made it work. Plus my watchface doesn't recognize the battery on the phone properly, so I guess it must be a connectivity issue. Tried everything on bluetooth and nothing. The watch became useless. I search for a new update every hour on the app but nothing shows up. Hope they solve it quickly.
Same Problem
Everything working great until today - downloaded the update and Notifications stopped working all except incoming calls - Obviously this is an issue with the software update , very disappointed as this is the only reason I purchased the watch in the first place. It has turned a smart watch into a digital watch
Same problem here. Was working perfectly up until today when the update came through. Updated and now notifications won't work. Tried resets and all sorts. Nothing seems to push the notifications to the watch.

Same here,
i've tried install the old apk for gear manager and samsung gear apps, it works for a couple of days. Today, same problem, no notification at all.
What the hell have samsung done? Without notification the gear s2 is just a watch
Someone have info about a fix for that? Someone have contacted samsung support?
You're not the only one. The latest update causes lots of problems like these. Sometimes text mwessage notifications come trough, but not always.
No solution yet. I tried re-installing the Gear apps on my phone; also swiping the internal cache of my phone (in bootloader) as was suggested somewhere. No luck.
I contacted Samsung Service Support and they aknwolegded the problem. You don't believe this. But the only solution they have yet is to have the watch send in. Which I am considering unless I find a solution here or spmewehre else soon.

Hey,
I had the same problem.
1. Go to Settings.
2. Lock screen and security.
3. Other security settings.
4. Notification access.
5. Select samsung gear.

I had the same issue. Updated to the firmware with the sleep tracking, and after a couple of hours I noticed that notifications were not being sent. I put the watch in airplane mode, then turned it off, and that seemed to work briefly. I fixed it by backing up the watch, then doing a factory reset on the watch. As part of the re-setup, it restored the settings from the backup. Notifications have been perfect since then with the update.

This worked for me. So far so good. 1+ and thanks to the poster. Makes sense to me that it was an Android Security Feature blocking the notifications going through to the gear. I have a Samsung Galaxy Gear 1 Connected to a Galaxy S6 All stock firmware on both.
I also had a problem after the July update but did the following and since then I receive the notifications always. Those are the steps:
1. Go into Galaxy apps and in Settings disable automatic updates
2. Remove the "gear Plugin" from the list of applications
3. Disable the "Samsung Gear" app from the list of applications
4. Reset the watch
5. Re-pair everything
6. When done, go straight into the "Samsung gear" app and disable automatic updates
7. In the App Store, find the "gear plugin" and disable automatic updates
This seemed to have blocked the gear apps from updating to the firmware that causes the issue. Has worked for me fine for the past few days
Every time I open up a popup app it prompts this message.
I go to settings to allow permission to the app but the toggles don't work, and I am unable to use the app. sometimes restarting the phone works. but not always. anyone know how to fix this issue? it's really annoying. thanks

If you are using facebook messenger, and the chat bubbles, just close them and it will work If not, than some other app is causing the trouble, so just go to recents and close all apps.
How can I turn off S Health notifications on my Gear 3? I am fed up (to put it politely) with notifications to get up and start moving and well done if I get up. At 77, I don’t want to be disturbed if I nod off by this silly program.
I have S Health notification turned off in Settings on my phone (Note 8) and also turned off in Samsung Gear, to no avail. It still insists to disturb me when it feels like it.
Any of you kind guys can advise me how to stop it please?
Kind regards,

As I said, Open the SHealth App on your Gear!
Go to the last page inside the Health app and open settings > Fitness reminder (or something like that, I don't know the exact english translation) > And turn off all notifications you don't want to see.
I think I might have found it! Even though all notifications off, there are still some enabled on the Gear app. Clicking on the app, in Info, scroll to near bottom to Sansung health and click, On the bottom I found Manage Items, where there are options to turn different items on and off. I just have to wait and see if I get woken up during my after lunch nod off.:fingers-crossed::laugh::laugh:
Found the options on my gear 3. Sansung health>Settings>Health nudges. Tuned all of and viola, no more notifications.
Best regards,
I have a Gear S3 connected to my Note 8. I can't stand the ongoing notification for the Gear S Plugin. Is there any way to get this to go away? When I had the Nexus 6, I could block this notification.
If you push and hold on the notification, it should give you an option to turn it off.

Tell me I am stupid, but I do not understand the problem.
I have a note 8 and gear s3.
What is exactly bothering you? You mean the text in the pull down notification screen? Where you can select o.a. "find my gear?"
Or switch the connection off?
Or the gear plugin message when reconnecting the gear S3?

The ongoing notification from the Gear S Plugin that says "Connected to Gear S3 via Bluetooth". The notification image that is shown always too.
I like it as clean as possible.

I understand.
I also had this "samsung connect" thingy above it. And that one can be switched off in the settings.
When I switch samsung connect off off also my Gear s3 notification image disappears.
But when disconnected/connected I always get this plugin message. E.g when I switch my phone bluetooth off and on.

This problem also exists on a gear S2 connected to a note 8. I didn't have the problem with my note 5.
Disable the plugging
Go to the Samsung connect app and under your choices you will see dashboard. Turn the watch off. It will still connect through Bluetooth. Just won't be with the Samsung connect dashboard junk. It will remove the icon plugging data as well as the Samsung connect will drop off as it's not an active connection in it. Was my only fix. Just do not delete the Samsung gear app.

This worked for me.
Also annoys the heck out of me.
I tried the method at the bottom of the first page and I thought it works but it did not the notification returns. It's an utterly worthless notification because it's not notifying you of anything you don't already know and have known for as long as you have owned the watch.
I cant get rid of the notification either,
I sometimes leave the watch downstairs, right on the edge of bluetooth connectivity. So I get allot of connection and disconnected vibrations that I want to block
I've tried changing settings on the notification but it does nothing

This is really stupid.
Had the same issue with Note 8 / Gear S2
Maybe the new Smart Things (replaces Smart Connect) app will fix it
I downgraded from 3.0.0.1 to 2.3.2.3 and I forgot to turn off the auto download for the update. I switched it off half way, but it stubbornly kept downloading.
Now I have the udate software notification screen constantly nagging me as well.
I'm thinking maybe the only way to get rid of it is to
1) Reflash the watch again (Don't want the hassle of doing that again if avoidable)
2) Somehow deleting the update files on the phone / or watch or wherever it is.
Anyone have any idea about option 2?

Get the free app AutoNotification and set it up to block this lame notification. Wait until it shows up and then use the app to setup a block and pick the annoying notification and.. bye bye!
For a few week I've not been receiving push notifications for Messenger and a couple of other apps, I've tried clearing cache, reinstalling, upgraded to beta firmware, factory reset to normal firmware, checked every power saving and notification settings I can find and I'm getting no where. I have avast and malwarebytes installed but have tried 24 hours without them.
I've noticed if I wake the phone and see the icon in the edge panel or from the app tray the app seems to wake and sometimes pushes through notifications. Very frustrating!
Anyone got any ideas?

In order to get app notifications , you must give app permissions to auto start. Otherwise you only will get notifications when app running .

Still not getting notifications for messenger. Does anyone know where the setting to allow messenger to auto start is.
I'm convinced it's some sort of aggressive power management feature.

I found the area where permissions are granted. Settings>Apps> {Appname}> scroll down to "Permissions" > tap the three dots at top right corner> tap "All permissions". This gets me to an area where it shows all of the available permissions to assign the this app. I do not see an "autostart" or anything similar.
