Over clock adreno203 - Samsung Galaxy Core

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=710850&page=29
It seems to be a very useful thread
Can it be used for our core??
It could be used for adreno200..adreno 203 is not different from 200 so may be...kernel developers could do this easily.

windows mobile devs could OC same CPU as magic's CPU to 800Mghz

hey guys,
I saw winmo devs OCing this same Magic's CPU up to 800Mhz with great performance boost.
any one could reach same with android OS so far?
URL: http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=7461
thnx!
first off, the touch pro 2 isn't a magic. at all.
second of all, this is completely wrong forum. please read rules.
third, it probably never will happen. someone did it a while back and there was a huge debate about whether it worked or not and it was finally confirmed that it didn't work.
I can't find the word magic anywhere in there!!! Damnitt!!
so it leads to this question,
How did you come to the assumption that you could OC the magic when nothing about the magic is there?
The cpu is the same on the magic...

It's a shame that project died. I really believe that it's possible if the right person would try cause it already worked on a lot of phones. I used to clock my Omnia at 800Mhz which gave it a great boost and there was no real battery drain. They've also managed to clock the N900 cpu at 1Ghz:

No, it wouldn't. You're buying into the megahertz myth. The magic has a ARM11 (ARMv6) chip, whereas the N1 has a Cortex (ARMv7). It's more like a P3 against a P4 - the clockspeeds may match, but the performance is still going to be off. Not to mentium ARMv7 has a bunch of new instructions (NEON), that are not present on the v6. And the GPU still wouldn't support OpenGL ES 2.0. It may speed things up sure, but it wouldn't really matter.
sadly it's not the cpu preventing me from overclocking it! it's the software in the phone, the pll's are defined in the spl and it would take i SIGNIFICANT skill of hexing and backporting to do something about them! and by the way it would almost certainly brick the phone! i'm sorry guys the only thing i ever was able to play a litlle with was some parameters giving a little better gpu performance, but it's unstable

HTC Sense Android Touch Pro should be like this!!!!

Hello,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QphwASvhFUg&feature=related
We have a device with a bit more RAM, can over clock processes or, to 800 MHZ and run android, how does it not look like this?
This would be a great build!! We even have 3D Acceleration, what does the N900 have?
We even have more developers, but at least they should try working together to make a stable android build that is cool looking, I mean ,everyone wants a functional and glossy look, right, if we can make it like this, and all developers work on a good sense port, this could be a reality, is anyone up to the challenge?

But with some tweaks(o/c-drivers) maybe will see some light too...
see this?
Off topic, but have you guys seen this phone. Same hardware as the n900.

I agree, we can tweak and lighten it and make the rom work great!

What is all the obsession over dual core phones?

I have to ask: Why does everyone want a dual core phone which cant even currently be used?
I say it cant be used because dual core processors cant be used on Android 2.3 Gingerbread/Linux kernel 2.6.35, there is only multi-core processor support in A3H/L2.6.36 (only avaliable (officially) on tablets). We will see problably support in in "A4I"/"L3.6.37" for both phones and tablets.
So whats everyones obsession? The only thing you are problably gaining is a SLIGHT speed boost (not even close when a kernal that supports it is released) and more battery drain.
On a counterside this could bring good marketing to Google: They release "A4I", current dual core phones get a HUGE speed boost and everyone praises Google. Could work good for them.
Interesting, I never knew Gingerbread couldn't support dual cores on phones. Good info, I guess I'll keep my Evo for another year.
It's pretty easy to compile the kernel to use multi core processors. The current one may not, but hold your judgement until it's actually released.

So true............. Currently 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of users AND developers of applications can and are willing to complie a custom kernel not used by the rest and use/make multi core supported applications with its multi core supported kernel.
I guess progress has to begin somewhere?
i don't think i'll ever need / want a dual core phone for my daily rutine, my SGS is perfect for me, what more could you need from a phone? don't think they'll be able to fit jet packs on them any time soon...

What I'm saying is the kernel can easily be compiled by Google or Samsung and used as the stock kernel on the GSII.

Yeah its logical to think like that but 3 years ago who thought you need phone with such big screen and processor/RAM almost match PC speed?
As someone said somewhere they have to start but interesting thought by thread creator

Honestly those arent needs either. But as of right now the only purpose of a dual core phone is to brag.

[Q] CPU speed of Sensation

Hi guys,
Had a question, if anyone knows completely.
I spoke to HTC customer support twice, and both times they said the actual CPU speed is 2x 0.6Ghz and NOT 2x 1.2Ghz. (Which 1.2Ghz DualCore would imply)
Have I spoken to two idiots or are they right...?
I dont like the way it is advertised if they are right.
Liroy : Ok then I had one more question
Liroy : The CPU of the Sensation
Liroy : It states it is dual core, however, one of your collegues told me this is 2x 0.6Ghz
Liroy : I figured it would be 2x 1.2Ghz
Liroy : which one is correct?
Georgina: Our specification states: 1.2 GHz, dual core
Liroy : Yes.. So is that 2x 1.2Ghz or 2x 0.6Ghz?
Georgina: Each process will have 1.2 Ghz
Liroy : I'm sorry but I have to ask, is that due to the app splitting up in childs or simply because it can use *one* core of 1.2Ghz and another process can use the second core of 1.2Ghz, basically having 2 cores of 1.2Ghz each?
Liroy : I realise it's a rather technical question and not sure if you guys get such information but it is rather important to me, lol. I use the phone for it's processing capability's to the maximum really
Georgina: They both add up to 1.2GHz
Liroy : Okay, so it's not 1.2Ghz Dual Core but actually 2x 0.6Ghz and thus 0.6Ghz dualcore
Liroy : I'm sorry but the answers you are giving me leave a lot of room for the cores to be either 0.6Ghz each or 1.2Ghz each. If they add up to 1.2Ghz it means they are 0.6Ghz each
Georgina: yes they add up to 1.2GHz
Liroy : Hm... So the specifications of the Sensation device are actually not what HTC is advertising. That's not very nice :/
Georgina: I do apologise and will be passing this information on
Liroy : Ok, thank you and have a nice day
Georgina: Your welcome
Georgina: Thank you
Georgina: And you

The person you talked to knows nothing about this (and follows the misnomer that you multiply the speed by the number of cores, but in this case, the complete opposite). It's 1.2 GHz per core.and no, youdont multiply or divide by the number of cores.
If HTC advertised by multiplying the core speed by the number f cores, they'd be in a ton of trouble for misleading advertising since no one in the industry does multi core stuff that way.

That is correct although I did have an old HP which was sold as 2 ghz dual core which turned out to be 2 1ghz cores. Still ubuntu overclocked them to 2ghz per core
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
geoffcorey is right, you cant multiply or divide
Speed is still 1.2Ghz but with 2 cores.
Each core has its own cache and fsb. And can run parallel tasks/processes, which is faster than a single core.
Overclock?
HTC Sensation
Stock ROM - Rooted
Thank you all for your responses
Yes I know you cannot multiply or divide it, it doesnt mean it has 2.4Ghz or anything
Though, in theory it can process nearly twice as much as a 1.2Ghz single core.
But both HTC employees claimed it had 2 cores of 0.6Ghz each, totalling a total strength of 1.2Ghz.
I already thought it was ridicilous but well.. You start having doubts if 2 employees say so

judging by the responses you got in the chat, you had some of the lowest level "tech support" you could have possibly found, reading a (quite horrible) script to you. Those people shouldn't even be "helping" people to troubleshoot imho.

Thanks, I had the same idea.
She was pretty much dodging the question pretty much showing she didnt really know what was I was trying to ask.
Before that we were discussing the issue with the power button/lock screen (screen flashes) that multiple people have reported and she kept saying: That's unoffical HTC information.
Doh, it's on a discussion forum. And then she kept repeating: HTC does not know about this issue.
Told me to send my phone in for repair while multiple people are having issues since the update to the latest firmware.
Trying to explain this to her was... Well, it didnt solve anything.
Ohwell, hope they fix it sometime soon anyway
Thanks for your replies!
It's 1.2ghz dual core.. guess what?

Don't trust half of what HTC 'support' say! If you want some fun and games with what they've said before then check out page four of this thread:
www.tinyurl.com/desiresfirmwareissues
..which also exists purely for the issues since the latest firmware update. You'll see some of the enjoyment we're getting courtesy of HTC.
It is actually 1.5Ghz dual core underclocked to 1.2Ghz, if you don't care about battery life (like me) 1.5 is the way to go , however you need a custom rom so there is a small chance that you might lose the warranty

the q700i has a little tiny bit better specs, the resolution is incredibly better.
Thanks Trozzul,
I did notice that, but other than the display, is there anything more convincing?
Does 1.2ghz and 1.3ghz make much difference?
What about the GPU?

they are both quad core so there is barely a difference, im sure you could overclock the q700i to even faster than 1.3ghz if you really wanted, nowadays in the android world you want higher than 1ghz and at least a dual core, 1.2ghz is very fast.

Buy Q700i and only difference between q700 and Q700i is camera and you don't have apps to sd option in q700 but you have it in Q700i although it is simply solved by using third party apps or you can simply install Q700i rom in q700 to get apps to sd option (because both phones have same kernel, modem, radio everything) no difference other than this

Go for q700s, its a newer chip, it has very capable mali 400 mp2 GPU, should give you solid gaming performance, also I guess the GPS module on the mt6582(q700s) is better than q700(mt6589)
also q700s has a gpu clockspeed of 400mhz - 500mhz, which almost 60-70% more than mt6589 - 257mhz - that is a massive difference in the gaming department!!!

its hard to say man, i would say go for the newer chipset phone, i.e q700s. The mali 400 is a pretty well known gpu(s2,s3 etc) , so i guess games are more optimized to it and as result they run better. that being said the power vr 544 according to specs should be more powerful, but i feel it falls short often.. i guess maybe because its underclocked in that mt6589 series..with highest being..357mhz.. q700s with dual core mali400mp2 at 416mhz seems pretty solid to me..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVfQktv1bds - gaming review q700s.. games seem to run very well..
at the end of the day.. as far as customer service goes.. both brands suck. but if you get a good device that wont matter.. so i would advise you to spend as little as possible on these devices. go for the cheaper one..which in this case also has a slight advantage i feel..q700s.
