I have a samsung galaxy note 10.1, n8013. I attempted to install cyanogenmod using the Heimdall Suite and the CW recovery (recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.6-n8013.img. I downloaded Heimdall and the recovery file. When I try to do a check of the version of the Heimdall, I get an error that it is not a valid Win 32 file. I was able to get the tablet into download mode and hooked to the pc via usb. I successfully loaded the drivers from the Heimdall Suit using Zadig.Exe. The problems started when i attempted to open a command prompt in the directory that had the recovery .img file. I get an error saying that it is not a valid command. I have attempted to do this three times without success. All I want to do is root the tablet, AND update the android version since Samsung has no intention of sending out an upgrade.
Can someone assist?
Many thanks for all the hard work.

Hi,
Asking for help in the thread you downloaded the ROM from is your best option.
Good luck!

Hi,
It's likely a bad cable, or the drivers aren't installed correctly on the pc. Download kies from Samsung and it will install drivers. One if those 2 things should allow your device and pc to communicate.
Failing that, you can ask for help here,

Good luck!

You can also download a rom to a micro SD card and install it from the card in your device with recovery. ?
So, I wanted to install a custom rom.
I picked TranchidaKat because, well, it was the first one I found?
Firstly to install a custom recovery. It should be noted that I bought this tablet from a classmate, and it was already rooted.
I followed instructions found here to install CWM recovery. TWRP doesn't appear to support Tab3 per their website.
I downloaded the files, and they appeared to write fine in Odin. However, when I attempt to boot into recovery (hold volume up and home, then hold power) the device boots to the Samsung Galaxy Tab logo screen, then simply sits there until I decide to turn it off.
Any suggestions? This whole process is rather overwhelming to me.
Hi,
Please ask for help in the CWM link you already posted. They will be the best ones to help you! ?
Good luck!

Actually, I see you've already asked about this in multiple threads in your device section.
Xda Assist is here to help navigate the site, not for support.
Thank you for understanding, thread closed.

Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. Take a look at this thread:
[GUIDE] Unroot/Unbrick, Flash official stock firmware on Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 & I9505
In the first post in the "Before we proceed, make sure" section you'll see step one mentions ensuring that you have the correct drivers installed on your PC. Install Kies from the link there and you should be able to get your PC and your phone to communicate properly. From there you can follow the rest of the instructions to return your phone to its normal state.
No response in two days, thread closed, thanks.

Hello, and welcome to XDA!
Since the 9005 is the Note 3, most likely it would be a problem. Hopefully not one that would affect your regular boot.
Please check this thread out:
> Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 > Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > Guide - Installing Firmware, CWM recovery & Rooting
If you have any questions, you can post there as well (once you have an XDA account).
Hope this helps, and good luck!
