Today as soon as I opened my Android Market app in my HTC Desire, it showed me that and update for Google Maps version 5.5.0 is available. And I was able to update it without any problem.
But later I did a factory reset of my phone because the Mobile security in my phone was malfunctioning (not because of new google maps) from last few days due to some unknown reasons.
After reset I was expecting to get the google maps updated automatically, but unfortunately it did not. I am afraid why it is so?
I was eagerly waiting for the update form last so many months, and finally when I got it, I lost it even before I could explore it nicely.
Please tell me I you have any idea how can I retrieve my update to version 5.5.0? Or any suggestions related to the matter.
Thanks a lot.
Dunno, go to the market, find Google Maps and tap on update? What am I missing here?
the thing is that it first has to register that you haven't updated google maps - after downloading it today, they registered on the server that you had already recieved it.
best thing to do is to go to market.google.com and try there to download google maps there; it will check the version and when it sees the old version, will override to update!
Got market enabler from market, fake provider like T-Mobile, install as usual.

Hi all,
running ICS on my sensation, just bought a few app today, no issues, just downloaded and installed nicely. No, i did a factory reset and installed a update for the ICS rom, and now i'm only seeing half of my paid apps under my apps in the market.
Can't search for them either. Paying for apps, and then not be able to redownload them... any advice on this ?
Presumably the missing half of your apps are flagged as incompatible with your newly flashed ROM software and are being suppressed from display.
I recently purchased a TF300T. From the factory reset, I am able to download and install new apps. After a few days of usage, I realized I could no longer install apps. I followed the instructions for Google Play regarding this issue, however nothing seemed to do the trick. I did a reset again this morning and I have not updated the suggested apps - gmail, google music, etc. But I have installed my collection of apps including the new ones. Could this issue be related to an update for gmail or another app? I can not remember when the issue arose or when I updated the app.
Even though this issue is a pain, it has given me a chance to learn more about the tablet as this is my first android tablet.
What was the error message when you couldn't install?
Hi,
I recently migrated to Nexus devices. I have a Nexus 5. Recently, while I am working with my phone, the play store suddenly opens to a random (usually Korean) app. I say Korean because the dev's website ends with'.kr' and the language looks like one of the East Asian languages (I am sorry but I cannot differentiate them very well).
I notice this usually happens when I am back to my home screen.
I suspected Ads and I have downloaded Ad Away and made sure I am running the most recent updates. I even installed Ad Network Detector by Lookout and even uninstalled some apps I suspected. But it still pops up.
This issue happens also on my Nexus 7 2013 (running rooted stock 4.4 and stock kernel - Dalvik runtime). Now there is an overlap of apps but they are not exactly the same.
Please note that I am running rooted stock 4.4 with custom kernel on my Nexus 5 (ART runtime). I have not updated play store manually. Everything is as is from Google. And the play store version is 4.4.22.
One last thing, yesterday, I noticed the same type of "ads" on my wife's galaxy s2 running Jelly Bam v10. There is very little overlap in terms of apps.
This is a very annoying form of ads. Anyone experienced this? And if so, any workarounds? I am trying to avoid a factory reset if possible.
I appreciate your help.

I'm glad that I found this as the same thing has been happening on my N5.
Cataclysm, Faux and 'next' browser. Although I think it still happened in chrome. It seems to happen when I'm using a browser, the play store launches by itself to some random app.
I'd hate to think this is Google doing this to sell more crap....
it sounds like you both have a spam app installed...try Addons Detector in play store, or uninstall anything that is not absolutely reputable, and read reviews about apps

It seems to have stopped since uninstalling the latest version of 'next' browser (beta 1.3).
I noticed that the issue would almost always arise when browsing, and since going back to my previous browser if choice (Boat) it hasn't happened since.
A real shame if it's indeed the browser, it had great promise and I was going to use it as my daily... But not if they are injecting crap like this into it.
Neither lookout adwatch nor airpush detectors picked it up, so it must be stealth.
I've emailed the devs asking if they have something like this in their browser, although I'm pretty convinced since it hasn't happened once since removing it.
Update:
It's not the browser, nor the one or two games I installed.
Tried several different ad and air push detector apps but can't find the culprit.
This is truly annoying, especially as I have very few apps installed beyond the stock Google ones.
Any help appreciated.
Hi, I am using a stock S6 in the UK and received an OTA update (Vodafone, screenshot attached) two days ago. Now my work exchange email account in the Gmail app has disappeared (no sign of it, all the emails and settings disappear). I can set it up again and it receives email for a few hours but then it randomly disappears again. I have two other accounts (gmail and IMAP) and both are unaffected.
Seems like a software issue. I've flushed the cache but can't find the solution - anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Bryce
I have the same problem. I installed Exchange 6.5-179555 from somewhere and thought that was the problem. How did you add your exchange account?
I'm using Outlook by Microsoft in the meantime
Yes I remember now that gmail doesn't support exchange. I redownloaded the latest exchange apk and installed but doesn't make any difference. Within 6 hours or so, the account has disappeared again.
I ran into the same issue a few days ago. I have tried the following, with no luck, to get it to work:
- Reinstalled gmail (uninstalled updates and updated the app)
- Reinstalled the Exchange Services apk v.6.5-1729047
- Installed the new version of the Exchange Services apk v.5.0.95313238 (From Android M Preview 2)
- Tried rebooting the phone several times.
None of these solutions worked for me. My exchange account usually disappears after only a couple of hours after I re-add it. Hopefully someone comes up with a better solution.
Try these:
1. Go to download mode and wipe cache.
2. If above does not work go to download mode again and do a full reset.
I'm having the same problem. Has anyone been able to solve this problem?
Also got the same problem on my new S6 edge. Anyone find a solution to this?
Yes same here, it seems to have only started happening since the recent firmware update a few weeks ago.
Try the Exchange Services apk from the Marshmallow Preview!

Looks like that's already been tried, see post #4 above.

I'm using the one from Preview 3 and it works for me. No more disappearing but it could be the new XtreStoLite 2.3 rom as well!

Yes I saw the preview 3 version yesterday posted on apk mirror. Just installed it now. Although when I added my exchange account it crashed Gmail the first time, leaving the account in a hung state, had to clear data and cache in Gmail and set everything up again, which worked 2nd time around. Let's see what happens.
The M preview 3 version works but it doesn't sync the exchange account, until you open the folder in Gmail.
EDIT: Scratch that, a data clear and reboot fixed it.

Good to know. It's been working for me very well for over a week. I uninstalled the old one, rebooted and installed the new one.

Nope. Just checked Gmail this morning and my exchange account has gone from the app and from the phone's settings/accounts page. That's using M preview 3 services.
However - a firmware update is currently downloading, supposedly the one that's bringing some of the s6 edge+ features to all s6 models; new icons, Samsung pay, etc etc.
I've uninstalled the exchange services while I do the update (tho it'd probably get removed anyway), then afterwards I shall reinstall it and see what happens from there. Will be back with results soon.
Guys, 'just want to report that the same thing is happening on Note 4 since upgrading to Samsung 5.1.1 rom, so guessing it's something with this manufacturer's customizations?
It's probably Samsung trying to force us to use their terrible email client. They know full well that having everything in gmail is much more convenient, I don't know why they want to dig their heels in, this operating system was born of Google, they should be grateful it's brought them so much success!!
Any chance of getting someone with some developing chops to have a look at this?
SORTED! (For now!)
OK I can confirm, the latest S6 firmware update of a few days ago - the one that gives the new icon pack (XXU2COH2 for me in UK, other areas may vary) seems to have cured it.
I'm using exchange services from M preview 3 (5.0.100419619).
Can't say this will last forever, as always there's no telling whether future updates to apps/firmware will break it or not!
@spark001uk
Just looking for an update, if you would be so kind: still moving along with no isses since the update?
Also, was this a second 5.1.1 update you got OTA?
Cheers,
