[Q] Battery doesn't charge - HTC One SV

When I charged the battery of my HTC One SV, the orange led used to be on. But since 3 or 4 days, the orange led flickers, and the battery doesn't charge at all, on the status bar of the battery, an unexpected logo of the battery shows up from time to time. I already unplugged the charger. It sometimes charges, sometimes not. Problem of battery? of charger? or of the firmware?

To verify if it is the charger, plug your HTC to an USB pc port.

Sync-charge cable charges to 100%, then discharges

I bought a sync-charge cable for my XDA II. When I used it, it started charging my XDA II from 53% to 100% charge. After that it started discharging , even though the XDA II said it was still charging. I eventually unplugged it when the charge got down to 92%. What gives? Anyone else with this problem? :?:
You are not alone
I have a 'Lill Sync n Charge cable, with the modifications to allow it to charge and it too reaches 100% then stops topping it up.
More strangely, it wont start charging for me unless I open up the Phone app, then plug the cable in! Most annoying. I thought it was just the mods I had done poorly
Even more strangely, it has in fact, been more reliable since I upgraded the ROM to the latest i-Mate version. Bizzare.
Same problem here, weird thing is the first few times it charged, then it started discharging, now I use the mains charger from my xda1 which works for both.

IanF, mind telling us about the mod you did for the sync cable? Did you put in a diode or something?

Cheers,

I've tried charging the XDA II using the cradle without plugging the power adaptor. After charging the XDA II to 100%, the cradle kept it at 100% (using only USB power). So it seems that the problem is with the sync'n'charge cable. Has anyone seen a sync'n'charge cable that not only charges the XDA II to 100% but keeps it charged at 100%?
Charge n sync cable ...
i had a charge and sync cable, but i find it really really strange ... when i plug in to the usb port, the orange led on the xda2 came on, indicating that its charging, when u go into the batter apps, i can see that it shows charging as well ..
after a while. i open the power app again and saw the power bar, in % keeps decreasing !!! whats going on .... ??
anyone encountered this before? btw, the charge and sync cable is not an original item.
its charging now ...
what a heck ... it seemed like charging now ...
the power bar, in %, went down to 0%, then i unplug it (fearing that i might lose all data). was about to use the charger ti charge it, then i tot i might as well do a soft reset and try charging again ...
viola~~! it shows charging again and finally, from 0% to 1% in about 1 min time!! so i guess using a charge and sync cable to charge the xda2 will first discharge the remaining power and charge from 0% ... anyone to confirm on this?? its really annoying ..
conclusion?
well, the xda is charging near 30% now, but just wat makes the xda 2 charging ... ? it was discharging all the way till it reaches 0% ... then i did a soft reset and it went charging up now ...
was it the soft reset that sends the xda2 charging? ... or was it really had to discharge to 0% before charging up?? ...
puzzled ..
Odd... but it works
I tried using the Brando USB sync cable and it discharges... but when I had it synced I took the cable off and put it back after a few seconds it starts charging... hmmm....

When Nexus S is off why do I see a white battery with "!" symbol?

Hi all, I'm not talking about the recovery triangle with the exclamation point, but when charging the S in my car, I noticed that the battery icon in the notification tray would charge for a few minutes, then stop charging and the battery icon would just go static at 75%.
So I turned off the phone, and was then presented with a black background and white battery icon, with a flashing exclamation point.
I unplugged, and plugged back in, and the battery started indicating it was charging via ascending white stripes, But then it stopped and changed to an exclamation point again.
The battery was only 50-75% full.
Could it have been overheating in my windscreen (I'm in LA)? Or is there some other issue with the charger. What does the ! mean?
Is your battery original? Maybe your charger is not supported. Not sure about this. Can you take a screenshot?

I think that your car charger doesn't deliver enough power to charge the Nexus S battery. Some smartphones are draining more power then they are becoming from the charge unit when connected to the car.

This does not explain the error when charging with phone off.
I would exchange the phone under warranty if possible.

It's never a good idea to leave a phone, or any electronics, in a hot car during the summer. The combination of a hot car and heating up the battery while charging could be bringing the phone's temperature too high. It could be the charger isn't wired up for the standard micro usb charging. I've seen this with lg chargers and phones and data cables. It could be a bad flash.
If it can fully charge inside on an ac charger, then I might suspect the charger in the car. If it acts the same with a different car charger then it could be the phone. Try a 12vdc usb female charger with a data cable plugged into the phone. Try flashing the phone back completely to stock and do more process of elimination.
Thanks.
This is a brand new phone with original battery, stock ROM, not even rooted.
The charger worked fine always on its previous owner, a Nexus One. It is hard wired into my car so not easy to change.
I wonder if the Nexus S has overhead protection that stops charging?
A screenshot is quite a challenge ;-)

43 degrees Celsius is the trigger point where it starts/stops taking a charge because of heat.
Heat
Its a samsung battery protection system the same system that wont let u over charge the battery once the battery gets too hot it will go in to this protected mode wit the exclamation mark
had it on both my samsung vibrant and the nexus s 4g

Won't charge, completely dead

Hi all
My HTC cha cha has died. The battery ran out and the phone turned off. My friend then turned it on again where it powers on then off. Since then it won't charge.
I have tried the PC USB cable. The wall charger and 2-3 other wall chargers but the power light won't come on and I can't get any signs of life. Any ideas?

[important] charger issues

Guys, take this one very seriously.. It just happened to me..
I was at my cousin's place when my phone's battery was at its lowest level and I was sharing photos using bluetooth. After some time, the battery reached 1%, so I immediately connected to the charger (Charger of Croma edition of HTC Explorer) then the phone immediately switched off. After that, I waited for couple of minutes, which is the time taken by the phone to boot after it is completely discharged. I noticed that the RED LED is not lit, which normally indicates that the phone is charging. After that, I took another charger (Charger of Samsung Galaxy S Duos) and put the phone on charging, left it for 2 minutes, then again I noticed that the RED LED is not lit up.. After which I disconnected the phone from the charger and removed battery from the phone, reinserted, tried booting, only the RED LED flashed for 3 times.. Then I connected to the charger again.. Still, it did not charge.
After which I came home, removed battery, held the power button for 4-5 seconds.. Then put it on charging through Sony charger, and then the phone was charging normally..
So, I would like to say that DO NOT USE CHARGERS FROM OTHER MANUFACTURERS. It will unnecessarily trouble you.
I'm using my old samsung charger (longer cable) and i have no problems with charging.

Both chargers you mentioned are for devices with small battery man. Thus, it will take more time to charge the phone depending on mV provided by the charger.
I can assure you, if you had put the charging on for a while,it would have started charging!

I left the phone for charging on Croma edition of HTC Explorer for about 10 minutes.. And on S duos's for about 7-8 minutes.. I think, that's enough..

Sometimes, the chargers you are using have their ends worn out/damaged cable and you might find out the slow rate of charging. In phones with small battery capacity (mAH), it will make little difference.
Amperes are different for all chargers according to your battery mAh. (Xperia L has 0.8 while Nexus 7 has 2 (2013 model) while older Nexus 7 has 2.35. The more the current flows through your battery, the quicker it will charge! But remember, it might affect your "battery life".
I use between Nokia, samsung, Nexus (Asus & LG) and Sony chargers and all of them work with all devices. However, last year my Sony charger use to charge my phone in 6 hours, while my PC did in 2 hours and HTC Sensation charger did it in only 45 minutes. (Sony did the same time when charger didnot have a problem.)
Once again, if you know electronics/electrical systems well, I am sure that regardless of your charger model, its the only ampere and your battery mAh that decides how long it will take your phone to be fully charged!
Other problem with xl. while charging with Samsung charger touch screen response having in trouble. But in xperia charger it become normal.

I guess that's the issue with voltage provided by the charger to the phone.. Some people say that it happens to them with Sony charger too.

I use my Old Galaxy S2's charger, seems to charge faster and I think my XL charger is broken anyway, the USB cable charges it but the charger doesn't seem to, randomly.
