I have a weird bug that I can't seem to get rid of on my Surface Pro 3. I'm updated up to today on all the latest firmware and software updates. I have a Gigabyte mouse connected directly into the USB port of my Surface Pro 3 and every once in a while, when I click the mouse to wake up and unlock my Surface, it opens the camera app, instead of taking me to the sign in page. This only happens maybe once every 10 or 15 times I unlock my Surface Pro with the mouse, but it's annoying.
Thoughts?
You're flicking the lock screen downward, instead of just clicking or flicking it upward. This behavior is built into Win8.1. A very quick Internet search ("camera from lock screen") found this page for me: http://www.windows8core.com/windows...ra-app-right-from-lock-screen-with-one-swipe/. It also includes info on how to enable (or disable) this behavior.
Does nobody search before posting?
Thank you for your help.

Aloha all, Having trouble knowing how to ask this...bear with me.
I am having problems with the menus that are triggered by the 'hover' action of a mouse. Using the surface pro or even my lumia 920 I am frequently unable to operate many menus on sites.
officefootballpools.com tournamentpools.com and a host of other sites have the same type menus.
Normal action would be with a mouse and when you hover it drops down a menu that you click your selection. Its isn't a normal drop down but a .li. html type for the menu.
Im sure this has been discussed but I was looking for some vocabulary so I can search the right threads.
You cant interact with hover images via capacitative touch. The browser has no way to tell if you want to click or just show the drop down, it assumes click. Some sites (with limited success) I have managed to press and hold on a link to show its drop down, then if you ignore the usual right click popup then you can sometimes hit the correct icon, this is on a lumia 710.
Otherwise if you have a device with an active stylus (the surface pro for example) you can get rollover easily. If you notice when you hold the pen a tiny bit off of the screen you get a little dot appearing on the screen where the pen is pointing without any physical contact. This dot can trigger rollover events as in this case windows knows that you are not touching the screen, touch becomes a click, hovering the pen over the screen becomes mouse movement which is enough to trigger rollover.
Thank you for your reply. I understand and assumed the same. I have been working with an x61t for a few years so the jump to capacitive has thrown me a bit.
Okay, so what are web developers doing instead of this type of drop down? I recently read an article that says a lot of developers are moving to the new msn.com type format with nav bars on left or right with no hover...
Anyway thanks again. The volume of sites with this issue is pretty large. Yahoo.com/fantasy chokes a donkey, etc.
Side question, does Win8 have the on screen mouse that I used to have on my Lenovo? Or is that a Lenovo product probably?
Alot of web developers are doing nothing at all. In some cases clicking the link that causes the dropdown redirects to a page listing the other links in that dropdown, that's always handy. Usually most devs create mobile versions of sites which are normally touch friendly. I have seen 1 or 2 sites create iPhone versions before, these worked nicely on android so I would assume they are fine on the lumia and maybe the surface.
I haven't ever seen an on screen mouse before but if there is not one in windows 8 then there may be a 3rd party one somewhere. I am on my phone right now, otherwise I would have looked myself.
One advantage of using "Mobile" websites is that they should be designed with the limitation of touchscreens - specifically, the inability to track hover - in mind. That may help you out.
Alternatively, the Surface Pro uses an active Wacom digitizer (as well as a touchscreen) that can sense the pen at a distance. You can use the stylus pretty much perfectly as a mouse, with hover and right-click and everything.
Have been running into these issues on a consistent basis. I'm not sure if they are hardware issues or software issues. Haven't seen them described before.
1. Using the Type Pro 2 keyboard, suddenly and without pressing the CAPS key, I am typing in all caps. Can't even use Shift to change to lower case. CAPS key is not not lit, but that's all that will type. Sometimes I can stop this by removing the keyboard, letting it "rest" a few minutes and plugging it back in. Sometimes I have to completely reboot.
2. Without any warning, selecting one desktop or folder object to open instead selects multiple objects and opens them. Once this starts, I definitely have to reboot to make it stop. Haven't been able to come up with a reason. At first, I thought it might be my HP Bluetooth mouse, but it has also happened with a Microsoft wireless mouse and a Logitech wireless mouse. Have also tried to use the pen, but that isn't really good for selecting a file to open. Files can be jpgs, documents, even videos. Desktop objects can be almost anything, resulting in multiple opened programs as well as multiple windows, etc.
I have Geek Squad coverage and there is a Microsoft store about 40 miles away in Delaware. Figured I'd check here first before trying those options. Not sure if a refresh would solve these or not and since there's a major effort in reinstalling programs, was a bit hesitant.
Thanks in advance for any constructive advice.
[Q] Help with possessed keyboard & unusable homescreen column in Galaxy S4 sch-1545?
I am having problems with my new Galaxy Verizon S4 Sch-1545. I have searched forums and google and have been unable to find working solutions for the following 3 problems:
1. On the home screen and all of the other 6 screens, any app icon that is placed into the second column from the right becomes unusable and unmovable. In effect, it becomes a picture of an icon. I can tap and hold an icon in any other column then use it to bump icons in the 2nd column but when I release the icon, the bumped icon snaps back into the 2nd column. The only solution I've found is to use Wondershare Mobilego to connect the S4 to my pc, turn on mirroring so the s4 screen appears on my pc screen, then use my laptop's mouse pad to tap/hold and move icons out of the second column. After they are no longer in the 2nd column, icons become useable again. I made sure Interaction control in settings is OFF and that no part of the touch screen is blocked by the interaction control setting. Turning the phone off/on doesn't help nor does removing the battery. I have Malwarebytes installed and it has found no malware.
2. The Samsung stock keyboard randomly types letters, especially in portrait mode. In fact, I gave up using the keyboard in portrait mode. For example, when I type the letter h, the phone enters the letters gj. Sometimes the backspace key flickers and letters are randomly entered and erased very quickly while I sit there and watch without touching the phone. I have disabled, swype, predictive text, gestures, everything I can possibly find that might cause the phone to enter letters I didn't type. I'm using Touchwiz and have no other launcher installed on the S4. When I tried other keyboards like Smart Keyboard, I had the same problems.
3. In Settings, swype keeps turning itself on no matter how many times I turn it off.
Not a technical person but I'm pretty comfortable with trying technical solutions if need be. I just switched from iPhone (which I'm beginning to regret) and I jailbroke the iPhone after each operating system update so if the problems above call for a technical solution, just point me at the step-by-step instructions

Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. It looks to me like you're dealing with a hardware failure, specifically a faulty digitizer. I'd suggest you find an app on the Play Store to test your digitizer, it sounds like you have a dead spot/column.
No response in two days, thread closed, thanks.
Hello XDA community!
I've done brief google-fu trying to work around issue I have found myself struggling with with nothing to show for it so I come to ask experts because surely, this being such a fundamental problem someone must've already tackled it, right?
So my problem is, I try to use my Android device (in this case POCO X3 NFC, but considering getting Android tablet specifically for this purpose if there is a workaround to issue I'm about to describe since my iPad is nothing more than expensive paper weight it seems) as a client device to access remote desktop and use BT mouse and keyboard to go along with it. Everything is sorta kinda working... except it doesn't as soon as you get to interact with it. ESC and few other keys prioritise Android shortcuts over application, same with right mouse button. I don't think I need to explain why right mouse button closing remote desktop app (Parsec and Moonlight) and booting me back to app launcher instead of opening the context menu on remote desktop is a MAJOR problem. I've found TeamViewer to work alrightish, it catches mouse clicks and button inputs and prevent app from closing itself... if it only wasn't a steaming pile of dog**** to work on - obviously desire here is to keep using VASTLY superior remote desktop experience that either Parsec or Moonlight provides with the benefit of using BT mouse and keyboard.
Is there ANY way that Android system button shortcuts could be completely disabled? I don't want my F-keys to adjust volume... Nor do I want my ESC key or mouse right click boot me back into app launcher...
Also, as a bonus if there's a way to significantly decrease mouse cursor sensitivity it would be greatly appreciated because holy **** moving mouse 1 inch on a desk on lowest setting Android allows for would scroll through several dozen screens worth of content...
I've found this to be a problem on iOS as well but unlike iOS being left at Apple's mercy I kinda expect Android to be more maliable by end-user.
Any takers?
Good morning,
For several weeks I have been observing and unfortunately the problem appears more and more often, the disappearance of the touch of the display ...
I am right-handed, so I use the phone a lot with my right hand on the right edge - at the height of my thumb, the connection between the keyboard and the communicator, once in a while my touch in the area of the p/0 and park buttons above - also other keyboard buttons do not work properly, keys next to it.
I use Swiftkey but never had a problem with it - could it be the keyboard that's the problem?
hardware issue, send it in for RMA asap
RMA u mean to samsung support?
Hi,
Samsung support is very stubborn (compared to dell which is very pro-customer).
I received the following advice:
1. Turn off the phone, enter the android menu and clear the cache - done.
2. Through samsung members, attach the error log from the phone and report the problem - I did.
I wonder what Samsung's next steps will be.
I have had the phone since October 22.
The problem with the screen appears more and more often.
*video* In the attachment I leave a video that scrolling (of a previously loaded page) just at the moment when the display goes crazy - as you can see (touch trace) I try to scroll in a classic way by moving my finger on the screen, but the page moves only as much as I move my finger, as if something somewhere causes an additional touch to stop scrolling. As you can see in the next part of the video, it improves for a while and then the same thing again.
Anyone had similar? How did it end?
Thanks greetings.
