So I'm pretty sure I know the answer already but is there anyway to message using my same ATT number over wifi only?

I have a friend in Arizona with an iPhone 3G on AT&T's network. I have a Nexus S on T-Mobile in Oregon. When he sends me texts, I receive them normally. When I send texts to him, though, they never go through. Does anyone have insight to share on this problem, or a potential solution?
Second try.
Which cellphone number are you trying to call? Did you verify if it is the same as the message sender?

It's all in the same conversation thread, and I only have the one number for him; I don't know where else it could be going.
There isn't much else to say. Just is it possible to send or receive MMS over WiFi?

+1000. Been rule since beginning of time.
Not possible on Verizon. Certain features require access to network elements firewalled from the internet and must be accessed via the Verizon network. For example, MMS, Visual Voicemail, and Backup Assistant.
So that means if I want to use MMS, i'll have to turn off wifi, turn on data and then send and receive?
No, your phone automatically turns on data when sending or receiving mms messages.

Nope im gonna say all the time unless you got a borked setup. Also why is it a big deal to send over wifi? Isnt like every packaged offered in todays time unlimited pic messaging?
so I'm using the Verizon Galaxy S3 in my Country with a CDMA carrier, I'm using CDMA RUIM to connect to the carrier.
The problem is, when im in the EVDO coverage i cannot send SMS (no problem incoming SMS and In/Out Call) to send a sms i must manually change the network to 1xCDMA, is there any fix to this?
Thanks

What ROM are you using? Are you able to send with a 3rd party texting app or same results regardless of what app?

Well the first think i would try is your using the stock is to get off of the stock. Try using synergy rom or something with a bit more network access on the phone side. Untill i can look into it, that's all i can suggest.

Hmmm. Odd that it has no issues with anything but sms. I'll do some research and see what I can find. What country and service if you don't mind me asking?

Im in indonesia, im using a CDMA carrier called "Bakrie Telecom" / "Esia" unlike most of CDMA carrier that "inject" the Number into the handset, this carrier using CDMA RUIM.
When im using Sprints Epic 4G i used the "inject" technique too since that phone do not has a RUIM slot, and its working well.

I would agree with this. Maybe a rom with a little more network access options would help with this.

Hey all,
I cannot receive MMS on my WiFi and I am on GoPhone from Att.
Anybody has any idea why?

.... i don't recall receiving/sending MMS messages being done over WiFi....
It only doesn't work on WiFi? This might be a stretch but MMS wasn't working for me at all on AT&T, then I realized that AdBlocker was blocking my MMS messages. Turned it off and uninstalled it and now it's working fine.

SMS/MMS use phone signal to send/receive, not wifi

When I am on Lte and someone calls me it comes up unknown no matter who calls. When I'm on 3g it comes up correctly. Anyone else notice this?

It even comes up unknown if the person calling me is in my contacts list.
