[Q] boot during flashmode - Sony Xperia L

Hello,
So I'm in the Xperia's flashmode, and flashtool is running. If I leave the phone and the tool for a few minutes the phone will boot on it's own, thus disconnecting the flashmode.
I want to flash a stock FTF but I'm affraid to do it now. Is this booting during flashmode normal, like, do I need to prevent the phone from booting by not delaying with flashtool flash actions? I don't want it to happen during the flashing, cause I think it would severely mess up the phone.

[Resolved] WT19a won't start after update

Recently I updated my Live w/ Walkman to the 4.1.B.4xx (I think is it), and it worked normally.
Today I tryed to update to the 4.1.b.587 (I think is it), but now it wont start. Just the green led flashes. I tryed with another batery, I've tryed to install a ROM via FlashTool, but nothing worked. I have already searched other posts, but nothing could help me.
What should I do? Should I reclaim the warranty?
PS: The problematic update was done with the PC Companion, so, I think the best way to proceeed is the warranty. But, I had rooted it on the 4.1.B.4xx... It could give me a problem?
Sorry for bothering. I solved the problem! Glad to the user "someguyfromhell" who created this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1568792
If you had unlocked bootloader and did OTA(Over the Air) update, then you probably ended up with a dead phone, aka brick. Don't worry, it is not completely bricked, still can be saved!
Download UnbrickingXperia2011.zip file from this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1568792).
Unpack the .zip file and place the .ftf file in Flashtool\firmwares folder.
Open Flashtool.
Get your phone to flashmode, make sure it is turned off, press down Volume DOWN button and connect USB cable.
In Flashtool, click the lightning button, pick Flashmode and choose the Xperia_2011_FreeXperia_ALL.ftf file.
Let Flashtool finish.
Install stock firmware and kernel to your phone.
Remove USB cable from your phone and start your phone.

can't connect in flashmode

I have the Xperia L (C2105) with latest firmware (.14 not .17 because in my country for some reason .17 is not yet available).\
I am trying to connect into flashmode but I can't.
Phone is accessible throuh Sony PC Companion. When I plug it Windows (7) recognize it .
I am trying with SUS but with no luck.
This is what I do.
(usb cable is plugged into PC)
1. Switch off phone completely. Screen goes black and phone does not respond.
2. Press and hold volume down
3. Insert usb into phone slot.
nothing happens.
I guess I should see led goes green, or phone switching on, or PC showing a pop-up dialog? In any case phone remains off and SUS can't go on to the next step after connection. Is there any problem with the phone?
PS: I also tried factory reset.
Any help would be appreciated.
OK, I managed to connect in flashmode. What I do is press once or twice the power switch while holding volume down.
Isn't it weird?

Okay, I think i've a similar problem. I cannot connect my device in flashmode. WHenver i try to do, the led just blinks red and then green, then nothing happens. Could you please elaborate how you managed it?
Hi, to be honest, I can't remember. This phone was one of the worst phones I 've ever owned. Camera was blurry, mic was not working. I didn't even bother to fix it. I threw it to the recycle bin. And I always take good care of my gadgets. That phone was the reason not to buy a Sony phone ever again. I now own a LG G2 and I am perfectly happy.
Anyway, I think I remember trying many times until it finally connected. I did various things, but the actual reason it finally connected was luck. Yes, luck. Try it many times and if you are lucky enough, you will manage connection. Or give it to someone else and buy a proper phone.

First power off the phone.
Then continuously press volume down button while connecting the USB cable to the phone.
(as i remember the phone led color may turned green when it's in flashmode)
Then check 'Flashtool' log, it will be saying 'device connected in flashmode'.
happy flashing.

Exactly, if you see red, green and then nothing, it means your device is in flashmode. Open up flashtool and get flashing! It will say device connected in flashmode

The flashtool doesn't detect my phone even after the led blinks. But if i connect the same phone to same computer through same usb cable in fastboot, the flashtool says device connected in fastboot. Nothing when in flashmode.

Driver issue. In the folder of flashtool, you'll find a sub folder called Drivers, run the file in it and select flashmode drivers and Common Drivers for taoshan. In Device Manager, your device may be listed as S1 Boot service or something. Update device driver to SEMC Flash device which should be under Sony Entertainment Mobile Communications, in all devices.

Thank you so much bro, for all your help. I really appreciate it. I have flashed stock rom hundreds of times over the span of 3 years (yeah i bought the phone as soon as it was released into the market and unlocked the bootloader soon after). So I think I would have know if it was a driver problem. But it's not. It's all about secondary bootloader which I screwed up while installing TWRP into the FOTAKernel partition (which I did not backup the original). For more info, check the link below

Hmm, that's new. I didn't think such a thing could happen. Thanks mate!

Xperia e4g stuck in bootlop.

I got a xperia e4g some days ago and the first thing I see is a large number of bloatware. Root unavailable (sigh) so going to flash custom rom. My previous phones were all rooted, with cwm recovery and custom rom and even after I bricked them a couple of times, Odin and a proper firmware fixed everything so nothing to panic. After few attempts at flashing customs, my phone ended in bootloop. Still nothing to panic, it happened earlier. I downloaded Flashtool, used Xperia Firm to get a proper firmware (E2003_Customized UK_1293 7276_25.0.A.1.28_R6A), checked the drivers and loaded the flash. Flash ended in three errors:
- unable to read from phone,
- processing from loader.sin finished with errors,
- error in process header5 : access denied
I have no idea what it means or how to fix that. PC companion has a blank screen anywhere I look (because I unlocked the bootloader?) so I can't use it either. Another issue which I have seen earlier but ignored it : e4g does not stay in flashmode. The flashmode is on for about minute or maybe two and then it goes into startup. Fastboot works normally.
Any help in unbricking my phone greatly appreciated.

I tried to download the original .ftf file but that also not flashing showing session ending error and please don't tell me to reinstall drivers i tried it already. my xperia L model is c2014. I also tried emma and those how don't know emma doesn't support some models and sadly one of which is my device. Plz anyone can tell me a easy process or something hopefull that i can try to get my phone back. And is sony service center will be able to help me if i give them my phone to service?

It is indeed a driver issue. If WiFi isn't working, you can flash stock ftf and then install whichever rom you were installing. Firstly, to get back to stock and relock your bootloader you need your TA. If you didn't backup your TA before unlocking your bootloader, You'll have to live with some functions of the stock rom lost. Restoring the TA locks your bootloader.
Okay so, if you have the stock ftf, head over to your flashtool folder, navigate to drivers and open Flashtool-drivers.exe.
For Xperia L, the drivers you need - "Flashmode Drivers", "Fastboot drivers", "Common drivers for Taoshan".
If install fails, you may need to disable driver signature check. Just google that, it's pretty simple.
If you don't see such a file, just get it from here - [Drivers] FlashTool Xperia Driver Pack (v1.5) [20140318]
Then connect your phone in FLASHmode. Not Fastboot. Fastboot has a blue LED and Flashmode has no LED (You'll see red and green flash before the no LED). Your device should be listed under Universal Serial Bus Controllers as SEMC Flash Device or Generic Flash device. If it says S1 Service or something similar, right click and update Driver Software, "Browse my computer for driver software", and let me pick from a list. Uncheck Show compatible Hardware, scroll to Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, and select SEMC Flash device. Reconnect your device to check if it detects it as SEMC or Generic Flash Device. If yes, try to install your ftf.
If you were already on this driver, try switching to the S1 Service. (Not sure where to find that but it never worked for me. Your mileage may vary. Give it a search).
Also, if you take it to a service center, they'll probably charge you some money and probably replace the whole board. Thus, Hakuna Matata. Keep calm, your phone is absolutely fine. Never tried Emma though. Flashtool ftw!

ihad used that trick after whole day research , I can conclude S1tools does not support 2012 upgrade model, I received error as ID HASH IS NOT SUPPORTED,
however my bootloder is unlocked, and I hav unlocked code also, and also phone is rooted ,
Yes this could work for us as we still doesn't have the preloader dump.
AFAIK there is not unbricking way for now.
Somewhere I read that pc companion could work with Q9008. Also worth to try with emma.
I want working on this to finalize the unbricking guide but will not be soon as I need my device for the rom port. When done I will work on this unbricking.
Also it is not a kernel problem. Your flash replaced s1 bootloader with a wrong one.
Good luck a be patient
What about this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849170 ?

Not related with TA backup for now. You change your bootloader with a wrong one.
It is almost like if you flash the wrong bios on your mother board. You can't flash it again until someone find an 'electronic' way.
Give a try with pc companion or emma.

You own a d6616? It have unlockable bootloader :s
Send it to repair center. No other choice.
And yes it is confusing, it say bootloader unlock after the fastboot command but it is not true.
@blackhawk_LA made some posts about D6616. Maybe he could help you.
I just post here to announce you the bad new your device is hardly softbricked.

Tanks buddy I am watching your thread, and also let me know when done,
Hi, I decided to post it here because it seems that anything I post on Xperia Ion forum is not read, it is inactive.
I already searched everywhere and I'm loosing my hopes. I'm trying to revive an Xperia Ion and this is what I get:
When I plug the phone in the wall charger the red led turns on for some minutes and then turns off.
The same happens when I plug on PC, when the led turns off it is detected as "Somc flash device" in windows device manager and this shows in flashtool:
INFO - Device connected with USB debugging off
INFO - For 2011 devices line, be sure you are not in MTP mode
Nothing changes if I plug in pc with volume + or - pressed, it don't goes into fastboot or flashmode.
I hope you could help me. Thanks
