Title says it all. I have flashed, reflashed, stuck boot, fixed and flash again, flashed 4.2 camera, and nothing is working. Started after installing official CM10 XMas eve nightley.
try to restore or flash an other rom, or in current rom make a full wipe and see what happens
Hi, for CM10, i remeber that was fixed search for camera fix and install it. It will stop that buggy cam
Is there a way to do a hardware analysis?

It is a hardware issue, not a software issue. Mine is with HTC right now for the THIRD time for the camera...... Now they want to charge me $145 to fix it. Needless to say, never again will I have an HTC device.
Same Problem
I have the same problem, did a factory reset, fresh install of CM 10.2 but nothing.
Always getting the "can't access camera" error.
I'm thinking it is indeed a hardware issue unfortunately, but if anyone finds a solution I'm happy!

could still be a hw problem even though you replaced the camera which is probably just the lense, the mobo probably contains the chip for the camera.
if you did a factory reset and wiped the caches after installing stock and camera still is a nogo, then its a hw failure of some sort, exactly where idk.
you could always flash stock again to double check, which stock? try them all
Need help. I have troubles with light sensor and proximity sensor after update to lollipop. After updating in fastboot mode (without any errors) these sensors don't work until I restart my nexus. After restarting sensors are working just a few minutes (5-10) and all repeats...
I tryed to downgrde android to 4.4.2, 4.4.3, 4.4.4 - in all of them sensors are working.
Please tell me what can i do to solve this problem!
Same problem!!
I too have this same problem after the update!

if i restart the phone its work for few mintues
Weird because I don't have this issue. However I had to perform a factory data reset through stock recovery because my internal storage was reading 16gb not 32gb. I mention this because maybe that'll help u. Plus I'm completely stock so far.
Have the same issue. Its so annoying. My brother and i did the updates on 2 phones. Mine has the issue, his is working fine. Any solution
I'm having the same issue, I pushed the OTA update via ADB first and has this issue. Then i tried A factory reset and still had it. Then I tried flashing the factory image using fastboot and I'm still having this problem. Everything else seems to be working great.
Do you guys think its an app related issue?
I don't think so, i booted into safe mode and still had this problem, unless the issue is being caused by a native app.
Yeh tried that too. Same thing. How come my brothers phone is fine tho
I don't know man, hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge will be able to help us out, glad I'm not alone though lol.
I fixed mine! I just needed to re-install my factory image manually. Follow the directions in this thread and use method 2.

I thought I do that on my phone too with no success. I used the nexus toolkit tho. Does it make a difference
*EDIT*
Never mind, it's still broke, I let the phone sit for about an hour and when I came back the sensor wasn't responding again.. I give up.

what if it is an application that is causing this?
No sorry, it took about an hour but the problem came back. I didn't have any apps downloaded yet and it still happened. I would try though, can't really hurt anything. Maybe it will work for you. I'm just tired of rebuilding my whole phone every time, I'm going to ride it out maybe someone will figure something out.
Can you guys try disabling google play services. I have it disabled for 30 min now and looks like its kk
Is yours still working? I just tried this and besides making the phone generally unusable it did nothing, sensors still didn't work. I think I may flash back to 4.4.4, I'm really tired of all this tinkering just to get things working correctly.
Nope. Didn't work. Is your phone a replacement phone by any chance? I called google they acknowledged a firmware bug. They will get back to me soon
No, mine is a launch device. Did they tell you any specifics?
Sensors work fine for me.
Everything is fine until i flashed my phone with new xtroslite 3.2 so i thought maybe going back to stock will fix my problem unfortunetely my mic issue still exist. Tried cleaning the mic hole gently doesnt help. Went to safe mode to check if its a software/app issue doesnt help, Should flashing a different carrier firmware help? Can i downgrading to 5.0.2 or 5.1.1 can resolve my problem. Or factory reset maybe? Anyone having the same issue, hope someone can advice me. Thanks in advance.
Same problem over here, have you fixed it?

yes. i just did a full factory firmware restore and flashed it with the latest xtrolite rom and everything went back to normal.
I have the Z5 (non premium nor dual sim) and i have flashed a few roms onto it aswell as formatted everything using twrp recovery and still get this annoying message every time i try and setup my fingerprint. "Unable to read fingerprint. please clear some space on the internal storage and try again" or something to that effect. when i check storage it says i have over 10GB available. any help would be greatly appreciated.
i dont even get the fingerprint option my z5 is very strange

Are you from the US? Or did you flashed a US Rom? Because the American Z5 hasn't the fingerprint option.
It ain't an hardware problem, cuz the power button is the same on every Z5 so I guess if you try to flash another Stock Rom it shall enable it?
iam in the uk dunno the rom i flashed says central europe
dunno but ill give it a try should i flash any uk firmware?
You can try to flash whatever Stock Rom you want except the US one whom hasn't the fingerprint enabled.
It may, (Once again am not sure at all but you can give it a try) it may enable you fingerprint sensor.
I'm French and my Z5 Runs on Marshmallow Stock Fr, my FP Sensor is working perfectly.
When you have successfully flashed a new stock Rom check on Settings > security > fingerprint manager (screenshot linked)
I'm just trying to help you and give you somes tracks to follow, but I'm not responsible if you broke/brick your phone

You tried to flash some custom Rom? How about trying to flash a stock one?
If it's not working try to wipe everything via flashtool.
If those two answers don't help you to fix your problem, I unfortunately don't know what you can do more

Yeah I've tried flashing multiple custom Roms. 3 variants of the stock rom. And have wiped the internal storage countless times with twrp. So I'm kind of at a loss now. Is there any other way to clear the storage on the phone without trwp? That's my only other thought since twrp may not be wiping that partition or section of data or what ever it may be
As I said use Flashtool to wipe everything, also if you have twrp I assume that you're root isn't it, so may be the problem can be here, a bad manipulation or if you haven't restored your DRM Keys it probably come from this.
I know that on Samsung phones when you loose DRM your fingerprint sensors is lost so perhaps it's the same thing for Sony?
I don't know but you should try to wipe everything and if you still have the backup of your DRM Keys try to put it back and see if it works

This is the screen that I am getting. The phone did this earlier at one point after flashing a custom rom then after a while it started working again. I have also made a backup of the keys for my phone.
I will give flash tool another crack this morning and see how it goes but I have done it before so I have very little hope.
So try this :
-Flash a stock Rom ftf file
- Restore the DRM Keys
-Try to set the fingerprint
I didn't root my phone yet so I don't know if you have to restore DRM before flashing a new stock Rom.
Either way I think you know how it works so try this and when it's done come back here to tell if it's OK or not, I'm following this topic until you're fixed don't worry

Not sure how this worked but i flashed the stock rom over a custom rom (XZ4 i think it was) but all of my apps are there and the fingerprint scanner seems to be working now.
Ok good news, so try it a few days and see how your z5 handle it.
To me it seems to be good now we will see with time

May be it wasn't your phone, but the ftf file who was corrupted?
Don't we get fingerprint reader on custom roms then just on stock?

I don't think so, what's the point of having a custom Rom without that feature? May be it depends on the ROM you're using?
I'm pretty sure that fingerprint exist in both Custom and stock ROM
