Hi guys. I have a simple question.
I think touchwiz is hideous and I am trying to eliminate it entirely without rooting the device because I'm on T-Mobile jump.
I've installed launchers and lock screen apps which work fine but I just cannot find a way to replace the notification tray. Its the only bit of the touchwiz UI that I can't eliminate. I have a sexy launcher and lock screen combo but when I pull down the notifications I'm smacked in the face by Samsung's glorious joke of a design that is touchwiz.
Is there any way I could replace this at all? Maybe some way to turn off the tray and replace it with a smart notification app.
PLEASE HELP!!!

No, you definitely need root for those kinds of changes.
Normally we give links here.... But nothing to link to. You simply can't, unless you root and flash aosp based roms.
Good luck!

Hello all. I am running the latest Tsugi rom, and I installed MiLocker as well as multiple milocker themes. Something I have noticed: I can use locker themes where the unlock function is a pull down box, but when I switch to another theme that uses a different unlock function it does 1 of 2 things. Some themes wont even switch at all. It will say it was applied succesfully, but the unlock theme is exactly the same as before. With another theme, the background will switch, but the button will not switch to a different kind of button (in this case a 5 way radial button, or something like that). It will remain as a pull down to unlock box, albeit with a slightly different look.
This is incredibly frustrating, as I pretty much cannot switch the themes to anything I like. Someone want to help me out?
I never got into all the fancy control-your-microwave-from-your-lockscreen gadgetry. I have always preferred to use a secure lockscreen, and in that regard I have always liked the pattern lockscreen. I always see screenshots of these fancy lock ring screens, though, does anyone use the unsecure ones?
I really like the sense lockring with the 4 shortcuts. It's not secure from the point of somebody else using your phone but the shortcuts are very nice to have, especially the camera button. I have mine set to show my pictures as a changing slide show.
None.
I like to hit the volume rockers and have the phone pop up ready to use.
If that means I pocket dial someone once in a while (hasn't happened in the 6 months I've had an android) so be it.
I like the stock lockscreen
Virtuous Quattro
I like the stock lock screen.
Ring makes it easy access and 4 shortcuts are convenient.
Plus it looks great.
If you are taking about the lock/unlock itself, I like the pattern lock for speed.

I use the sense lockscreen. When I was on CM7, I liked a customized iPhone slider lockscreen with shortcuts via widgetlocker.
I use the weather sense lockscreen.

same here, i think it looks grand !!
I got tired of Stock sense unlock so I found Widget Locker from market and customized it like stock ICS unlock with time and weather info.
You can set whatever shortcuts and widgets with it and have them be usable or touch locked
Only thing it can't change from stock is the call answer/decline. They still use the HTC ring.
Together with ADW Launcher with ICS icons I have completely revamped my Sensation.
If you don't use a secure(pattern/pin/etc) lockscreen though, aren't you afraid of someone picking up your phone and reading your emails, texts, etc?
Stock for me but I do like some off them out there .... just some off them are buggy.

+1
I use the lockscreen only to protect from accidentially dialing a number
I like the shortcuts to use directly without unlocking. And I have no important mails and texts on my phone...

First off, my phone is rarely outside of my pocket.
Second, if I were to leave it laying around, who's going to read my emails?
So no....not worried about it.

I never leave my phone unattended. I'm more concerned with someone stealing it than I am with them reading my email and making a twitter post in my name
The pattern/pin unlock screens are just too much work for me. It seems like I check to see if I have any new email every 5 minutes -the easier the better.
The new ICS face unlock is fun. It seems to recognize me about 80% of the time.
HTC Sensation XE Ring lock
Guys,
How to completely remove the HTC Ringlock?
Sense weather lockscreen.

This is the reason I have a PIN lock on mine. Use the Sense Weather lockring screen, but coupled with the PIN unlock too.
I work in a school, so don't want to risk either leaving it in a classroom by accident or having it lifted out my pocket!
using weather lockscreen
I am using the stock lockscreen, sometimes with a different background, but thats about as fancy as it gets for me
What is the service called so I can freeze it?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
You cant freeze that. There is nothing to freeze.
Why not just go to the Security portion of settings and disable the lockscreen? Just dont put any pattern, pin, or anything. Then anytime you lock the screen it just powers down the screen, hit the power button and its back on, no lock screens of any kinds.

Thanks.
But I want a lockscreen.
I use WidgetLocker and every once in awhile, I get the stock lockscreen and have to swipe it away, then I get the Widgetlocker screen immediately after and have to swipe that away also.
And a couple other buggy type gremlin stuff. Nothing serious, just bits of annoying.
So it would be easier if I could just delete or freeze the stock lockscreen.

Your not going to be able to freeze it because its not really an app to freeze. Its part of the android.policy.jar and framework-res.apk file. This is what the rom makers mess with when they forcing say the AOSP lockscreen.
As far as why the stock one keeps showing up, something is not right, if you set the lockscreen to none on the security settings, then the widgetlocker should be the only one showing up, you shouldnt have two lockscreens. That only happens if you have the security set to a native lockscreen and then widget locker is sitting on top of that.

Huh, if that's the way it's supposed to be done, then I wonder why WidgetLocker doesn't do it for me.
I just turned off the lockscreen in security (I think) and WidgetLocker is still working. I assumed it would be disabled also, if I turned off lockscreen. We'll see if this does the trick. Thanks.
The lockscreen settings in the settings tab only affects the original one, it cant adjust the widgetlocker one. It doesnt even know about that.
So if you removed the lockscreen from settings, it wont show the original samsung one anymore. If they still have Widgetlocker installed and enabled, it will then be your lockscreen. If you dont want that, then you need to disable Widgetlocker and either get another one you like or put the samsung one back on since you said you still want some type of lock screen, otherwise you wont have any lock screen, just a screen power off.
The lockscreen apps unfortunately cant modify the existing base OS code, they litterally just sit on top of the existing one and sort of inject themselves in there by you giving them the default. But if the stock/samsung one is enabled it still goes into effect, thats why you end up with two lockscreens. So basically you need to enable just one of them.

Yeah, that works up until a reboot. Then the stock one pops up again

Yep, it looks like you can disable any security settings that pertain to the default lockscreen. Like removing a pin, or special drawing function to unlock.
But it doesn't actually remove the lockscreen itself.
So I tried "No Lock":
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...nolock&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd
This completely disables the default lockscreen.
But on reboot, you still see the lockscreen for like two seconds, then it goes away on its own.
I'll try this combo with WidgetLocker for awhile to see how it works. So far so good, but the real test will be over a few days use.
Sometimes that stock lock screen would come up when I bring the phone out of deep sleep. It's fairly rare, just enough to be a small annoyance.

Are you on a rom with 14 toggle? If It has a locksreen toggle, thats what I used when I used golocker. It never showed stock, except on a reboot.
I just rooted my S3 and i tried the MIUI rom, i liked it but it wasnt as customizable as all the JB ones so i jumped off of it, but i loved the lockscreen, mostly when i got an SMS if i pressed the screen the text was visable on the lock screen, is there any other roms, or apps that do this?

Hello,
I am trying to change my lock screen app, from the standard one to Picturesque, the new one from Microsoft. But when I install it, it only shows up a few seconds after unlocking my phone. I first get the standard Xperia lockscreen and after 1second it swaps to the new lockscreen app.
Is there any way to change this? The 1 second wait makes it totally useless as a lockscreen replacement.
So how do I get rid of the xperia lockscreen and replace with my own custom lockscreen app?
Thx a lot

Deactivate lockscreen in Settings. I guess then youre problem should be solved.
