Anybody know how to reset it without losing root and s-off?
HTC ONE M8?
Flash the RUU, from here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2727831.
You'll be on the stock ROM, with stock recovery, but still be rooted, and S-Off.

I need to S-OFF, Install ClockWork Recovery, and obtain SuperCID, then I install the custom rom.
I don't need to root it first, right?
You only need to root and install recovery, personally I never did the siper cid etc and I flash roms on mine.
It will take you ten mins tops but just make sure you read all the documentation first. Oh, do the nandroid back up also incase it goes tits up

I thought you need supercid to install custom rom. And if you want supercid, you need to install ClockWork Recovery and s-off. Am I right?

Super CID helps when you need to flash official HTC Roms/RUU from different carriers or unbranding a carrier phone using the HBoot method. It really doesn't come into play with custom Roms flashed with a custom recovery.
You do need to have either S-Off or an unlocked boot loader to flash a custom recovery such as ClockworkMod. Then you can either root your current Installed Rom or flash a custom rooted Rom.

You need to have ClockworkMod recovery installed to flash custom Roms.
There are 2 methods that allow you to flash ClockworkMod. 1. Run revolutionary to S-off your phone. 2. Use the HTC Unlocker to unlock the boot loader. Method 1 is the best option.
Sorry for the nooby question but what would be an advantage to having superCID and being able to flash other official Roms/RUU's?

I suppose if you bought a phone from a private seller that was unbranded or branded for another area, and you want to use the official ROM for your area.
Some people just like to play with stuff, so...
Other than that, I can't think of any, but who knows?
You can flash any custom ROM you want without SuperCID.
P.
I have HTC Sensation XE and a few days ago, i was just tried to install a Custom Rom by CM10. I found a video on Youtube that there only three steps to do that (Flashing a Custom Rom with S-ON)!
1. Unlock Bootloader (and I've done!)
2. Install Recovery (CWM Recovery Touch)
3. Flash the Custom ROM
And I tried that all...
Everything looks fine, from the moment i install the Recovery and then the Custom Rom, but its stuck on the HTC Logo. Power Off, and then Stuck on HTC Logo again, and again... It never stopped! And the backdoor just getting HOT!
I tried to wipe cache and dalvik cache and all the things i used to be doing when i flash a Rom. But the problem still exist.
Then I flash the Stock Rom with this Recovery (Since I forgot to make a back up system), and its fine, although the wifi isn't working!
Then i searching somewhere and found that the Recovery is 4EXT, and the I flashed the 4EXT Recovery and its succeed.
Then I tried to Flash the Custom ROM again, but I found the same problem, another bootloop.
I tried everything i could find in here, but it's nothing...
It's about 2 days and i can't do anything with my Sensation XE.
All i know about my HTC Status is, S-ON, Unlocked and the HBOOT 1.29.0000
is there any easy to understand way to make My Sensation XE Back?
Please Help...
Thanks in advance...

Hi,
In 4 EXT ,did you enable "Smartflash" just before flashing the ROM ?
For more information ,look HERE
Then
Don't know if this works with Hboot 1.29, but you could try to relock Hboot and flash the appropriate RUU for your device. Then you can start again.:good:
Edit: I just made a quick post on how I solved a similar problem here.
Good luck.

What happened when you locked the hboot?
What happened when you ran the RUU?
Is your device recognized by adb, fastboot, both or neither?

At least your phone is working again. :highfive:
But of course you can flash custom ROMs.
If you want to stay S-ON, you will have to unlock the hboot again and then I suggest using this guide.
Or you could read every sticky in this forum before doing anything else and then follow one of the S-OFF guides like this one, which is what I'm going to do. :good:
Happy hacking.

Hi,
The asskicker guide will work on both 1.27 and 1.29 hboot.
And it is the best guide if you stay s-on.

My money would be on ViperS.
But read everything about flashing ROMs with S-ON and updating your radio first.

Hi, i'm going to sell my sensation, and i need your help. Is there a zip that i can flash in 4ext that contains the stock recovery? I have already installed the stcok 3.33 rom, but it might be better if i can re-install the stock recovery with a flashable zip. I don't want to s-on. Can anyone help me to find it?

Hi,
Look HERE
A RUU will restore stock recovery,ROM,radio, and firmware.
It's best to leave s-off if you have it,as there is an element of risk putting s-on back on.

Check this link
What it does is that is will only display on the bootloader screen that it is S-ON but does not actually S-ON...
So it just fakes it....
but check ur hboot version as it does not work on all hboot versions...
Hey guys. Ive been debating for so long whether I should update to the new 2.16 HBOOT. I am currently running 2.15. If i update will I be able to run older roms like ViperOneS and so on. I know that I cant run Maximus on 2.15 so i was just wondering if the opposite is true. Thanks

No, you will have to revert back to old firmware to run the ROMs that require 2.15 HBoot.
I have done it 2 different times, so it isn't hard.
My prefered way is to put stock recovery on and do a factory reset. Then I run a RUU. From there I flash a custom recovery and the ROM I want to try out.

Why would you have to put stock recovery to run an RUU? Arent you S-OFF?

Yep, I haven't just run the ruu only to see if everything goes back to normal.
A factory reset from bootloader with stock recovery in place is overkill, but I have the files in a folder and just takes a minute extra to be safe.
