Hello everyone , i've read your shares and research about booting a different OS on our Surface Pro's but still can't figure out how to boot Xiaopan on Surface pro, i've tried different installers such as unebootin and Grubs i think oh it was rufus boot installer, but none of them work
so here is what i've tried so far
i've got a 8gb a-data 3.0 usb and an old 2.0 usb 2gb kingston green transparent
tried both boot installers using xiaopan 4.7.2
tried fat32 formats, haven't tried with ntfs or other formats
Im running a fully updated surface pro with windows 8.1.. disabled and uninstalled secure keys and tpm at start (power and vol up)
tried using advanced startup from search and also vol down+ power but still can0t get it to boot from my usb options
i have an sd card but haven't tried on it since is the only one ihave is a ultraspeed card 64gb and i have stuff on it.. dont wanna delete anything
i hope i can get some feedback and help or if anyone could get to boot xiaopan on surface pro , please help a fellow here
Thanks in advance im' pretty active online so it wont take long to reply back if you help me here
regards

While trying to flash a new ROM I think I may have unplugged the USB cable with the tablet still mounted to a laptop. I now can't seem to access that storage space in any way and am in turn unable to flash any ROM. I don't like the TnT and am trying to flash a ROM without it. Any ideas how to proceed?
Thanks in advance!
does it boot up at least? may be able to factory reset and start over. or even power+VOLUMEUP to try to recovery boot.
i just put on tntlite 2.0. it's super fast. doesn't use a computer. it just strips the stock OS
It does still boot but tablet storage is not accessible. When trying to get into recovery,i get a triangle then it boots normal. Not sure what else to try. Tried mounting in windows and linux to format our repair..no luck!
sounds like the storage partition is corrupted and it crashes when it tries to read it, expecially if you unplugged the cable mid-flash (ouch!)
clockwork mod should let you reformat and partition the internal storage, goodluck, hopefully it's not a low-level problem w/ the storage data structure, ya never know if you were flashing it when it crashed, depends on what mode it was using to flash data to the disk (normal write vs low-level format equiv)
Thanks KM....just to follow up on this thread...I had to return the tab to sears....I exchanged it for a new one and have put TnT lite 2.0 on it. I'm not all that happy and plan to try zpad as it seems like a smoother and faster responding ROM.
This is an unusual problem. I am using a 2GB Sandisk MicroSD card on my G3 running a slightly modified version of DDJP2. The problem i am facing is that i can neither delete the contents of my MicroSD Card nor format it. Here are the steps i took:
1) Tried deleting folders individually as well as batch-wise
2) Unmounted & Formatted SD Card from Phone
3) Connected to a PC running XP SP3 (Both in Kies & Mass Storage mode) and tried to delete / format
4) Tried both quick format as well as the total format
5) Flashed different firmwares, wiped cache/data, hard reset and then formatted
In all the above cases, when i re-checked the SD Card, i could all the original files available on the card. Surprisingly, all the folders e.g. the music/songs folder was working fine.
Deleting the folder(s) shows that the content is write-protected; therefore it is probably not letting me delete or format the contents. While searching for possible solutions i came across some (unique?) methods -
1) Flipping the "write' switch -- Not possible since i do not use an adapter and the MicroSD hasnt got one built-in
2) Taping a notch - Wasnt sure what that meant exactly
3) Try formatting the MicroSD in a Camera - Eh ?
Anyone could possibly enlighten me on how to remove the write-protection on my MicroSD w/o using any kind of external device and possibly by software manipulation only ?
I am too having this exact problem. it's a 8gb micro sdhc.
have you solved it or it was a malfunction on the card?
maybe you should try formating it in cwm?

cwm--clockworkmod recovery.
if you have extended power menu you can enter in it by that way....if not...power off phone..then...hold volume + and - together and press home key and then power on key...hold them together until samsung logo appears then let them go...phone will boot in cwm recovery mode...

the problem is that I don't have a samsung phone. only posted here because os a google search about my problem.
although I have an htc magic 32a but I don't know if I can do that here...
No, i couldnt solve the problem and replaced the card. Although my folders on the "defective" card work fine and i can even transfer them via bluetooth. I must admit i didnt try CWM wipe at that time although i did try advanced wiping softwares via PC. For flashing CWM or a CWM enabled kernel please visit your phone's sub-section on XDA. You must flash CWM on your phone, mot only to try the wipe but also to make a backup of your phone's image in case it gets corrupted and you need to restore it

Tried this on an Htc Magic with clockwork recovery installed. tried to format /sdcard but got error:
"error mounting /sdcard!
skipping format...
done"
tried also partitioning sd card but got error too.
and btw the previous filesystem is exfat so that is why it can't be mounted in android.
anyway also tried formatting in gparted and macintosh. both failed.
bump*
hope someone already solve this problem.. .
or else my 16gb micro sd will be gone to waste
I tried all of the possible things on the net.. .

The camera suggestion (formatting after putting in a digital camera) did the trick for me, good idea! It gave me a new set of DCIM folders, but I can pop it into my PC now and just delete them. Seems ridiculous that my camera can do it but my PC can't.
i did an CWM update and m unable to install stuff from the SD card.
is it somehow possible to force a recovery install from the SD card ?i didn't find a way to do this without a cable....

i have a similar problem...................
i have stupidly installed aurora V3 screen patch .zip for aurora instead of the ADVANCE ii patch .zip and now i have a white screen which i cannot see anything. :-S
I also have NO mini usb port, i damaged it weeks ago when i dropped tablet off my desk while being plugged in.and the port had snapped pins so i totally removed the otg port and have been using extsd to install my stuff...but now i cannot see the screen to do anything.
What my question is is....CAN WE BOOT OR RESTORE FROM THE EXTSDcard with novo 7 advanced 2?
I have read on another site that the aurora, fire and some other ainol tablets can do this i read something about putting uboot and some other files into extsd and it will do a system format then install new os upon totally on its own without any user input.
This maybe done by a.script being activated from the extsd on startup but im not sure.
I even went and bought a miniHDMI lead to see if i could see the sxreen on my tv. But the firmware probably doesnt support hdmi output because my tv shows " no signal"
Like i said any help would be greatly appreciated.
Ps THIS SITE Kicks *arse!! :-o
I bought this tablet thinking it would be the best of both worlds. But the partition used for Android was rather small (4GB), and got full pretty quickly. It would seem like such a hassle to resize the partition used for Windows (21gb) because they were arranged like this in disk management: 64mb-16mb-16mb-etc-1gb partition for who knows what-4gb partition for Android-more 64mb partitions-windows partition-500mb recovery partition. Now I thought I'd use my 64gb micro SD and divide it into two partitions, one being an EXT2 of 20gb for apps. I'd need to use the app LINK2SD to move the apps, but lo and behold, Android was not rooted. (I kind of assumed it was)
So I tried to root the android portion of this tablet, using information from this page
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/intel-android-devices-root-temp-cwm-t2975096), selecting T4 as the trigger. It didn't show the option to install a package and I ended up selecting "recovery" instead. It rebooted into the tablet's own recovery mode, where I didn't do anything. Prior to rebooting, I got the screen to select either OS, but Windows was gone. Now what? I also tried the Kingo program via my laptop prior to the method mentioned on the link above, but it kept getting stuck at 23% and 10%, idk if that may have done something. Anyways, now when I try to force boot to Windows (by selecting "boot to windows" after pressing the power button), but all I keep getting is this command prompt-like environment. Is my windows partition lost or something? Please help.

Long story short, I did the fall creators update and it bsod my machine. It would NOT let me boot from any usb. I ensured usb was the first boot priority, I ensured it was formatted as fat32 and or a GPT partition. I tried a 16gb flash drive, a 32gb flash drive and a 256gb flash drive. No matter what I do, I can not get the surface to boot with any windows ISO or recovery image or files. However, I can boot from linux distro's perfectly fine from the flash drives. I decided to install linux mint completely to the nvme drive and it seems to be working well. However, I need windows back.
To clarify, this is on the new surface 2017 model 1796, not that it matters but it's the core i5 model with 128gb nvme storage and 4gb of ram.
TLDR: Only linux will boot from flash drives, windows PE won't boot, windows won't boot etc. They all just bsod.
If anyone can help me solve this, I will literally PAY you.
Last resort is driving the 6 hour round trip drive to Microsoft. I plan on doing that this Saturday if I can't fix it before then. If you have any ideas / tips / suggestions, please let me know. I've put about 15 hours into this machine with no luck thus far!

You want to back to Windows 10 on your Surface?
Download Windows 10 creation tool on your another PC: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO, and follow the instructions in YouTube videos.
You can install Windows 10 to your Surface (install to NVMe drive, not on external storage/drive) using USB flash drive.
