Okay, I have had success in the past rooting the original mytouch. I now have a Samsung Galaxy S 4g through T-mobile. What files do I need? Thank you in advanced.

You could at least have a look around the forums before starting a new thread...
Ok first
There is SEARCH field on right upper corner for newbie it should be your BFF for begining... Secondly there is SuperOneClickRoot software which will do it for you
I have done it and it works
I guess I am bit confused. Which rom's are best for this phone?
I am using stock with removed BloatWare
But heard Deoxed is fairly good

9/10 Roms that are available for just about every phone use CWM as a recovery and install method.
CWM Is not quite yet available... read/search forums.

Hello guys I'm new to this forum. I just got the htc inspire would like to know if I can root this phone with super one click root. I'm coming from the tmobile samsung vibrant and that phone is very easy to install and root the phone. All is needed just an update. Zip file to get into recovery. Or what's the easiest way to root I would love to see cm7 on this puppy.

I'm surprised to see these questions from someone with 400+ posts. You are surely aware that the stickies in this section and the dev section will answer your questions. And on the very first page of the dev section is a thread titled "[DEV][GUI][RC2][GPL][3-21-2011] HTC Inspire 4G Simple One Click".

No. Super one click will not work with this phone.
There are two rooting methods that are available, the hack kit by Attn1 and Simple root by bubby, both of which require the creation of a gold card, and are available in the dev section.
Please make sure you understand thoroughly the method you choose, read the manuals/faq's, and direct any questions you have to the method's thread, after of course, you have made a reasonable attempt at searching for previous answers to the question.
Chances are someone has already run into a difficulty and has had it assessed.
Good luck....

And how could I have forgotten a reference to mudknot's wonderful guide? Shame on me.

I have the Verizon Galaxy S III SCH-I535 and I want to root it, but everywhere I've looked (I've been searching for the last three hours) the guides tell me to install a custom ROM as well. I am fine with the stock, I just want to root it. Is this possible or do I have to install a custom ROM?
I upgraded to the S III from my old Droid 3 and I was able to just root that.
I apologize if this is answered elsewhere, I couldn't find it, but I might just be blind, dumb, and stupid. Thanks for your help.
Yes. Just follow one of these guides through the root process and don't go any further.

Both methods require Odin which is pretty easy to use. Make sure you are 100% comfortable and fully understand all the steps and you should have no problem.

Thanks, I was hoping for a simple root only plan, but this is pretty close to what I wanted. My room mate found a ROM for 4.2 so I might give that a shot as well.

Make sure it's for the right phone, and not for an international version.

Also use SuperSu for JellyBean Roms over Superuser
If you're going to root, why not unlock bootloader as well?
The phone can be set back to as if it was just taken out of the box still.
Just personal curiosity
What's the difference?
EDIT: This was for the message 2 above this one. Screwed up on messenger app. Sorry.

Help, I don't know what else to try?

Yes I did.
I did a factory reset and all seems to be fine now.
I got the exact same issue,
I tried the latest from chainfire and used other variants too
No luck rooting though

Same here. I'm unlocked, have phils recovery installed, and have flashed the supersu 2.01 and still no root.
I'm not sure why you guys aren't getting root. I'm using TWRP 2.7.1.0 and it works fine.

Figured it out. There is a setting in SuperSU that says to respect CM root access setting in developer settings. we don't have that setting under developer, so I unchecked it, and root now works.

Actually, those instructions weren't included in the toolkit thread I used.

not in this one either.

Yeah, i know how to do all that stuff. was just looking for a quick way while at work. haha. i investigated it and found the "fix" on my own. BTW, the part I posted in here isn't listed in that thread, either. Maybe his SuperSU.zip was already preconfigured to bypass developer settings, but the step isn't actually listed.

Ok.... I as well as many others have rooted our phones with that method and I did not have to do any of the stuff you mentioned. Probably because the instructions on that page get it done the right way from the start. Its ok both of us are rooted and you helped someone out
Not a fan of toolkits and to be honest its just a driver ms-dos window and some commands at work or not its still simple. :good:
Sorry for not reading the forum. I just broke my tmobile phone and need to order a new one ASAP. Root is a must for me. Can you please shortly let me know will I be able to root any Note 5 SM-N920T or not?
Yes it can be rooted but you're going to have to do some reading and research. There's no quick "one click root" method.

Thanks a lot! As long as I can root then I feel good about it. Just want to double check that any stock firmware can be rooted? Is it correct?

Thanks a lot, already ordered the phone online. I saw a sticky in this forum to root and I guess that's the one I'll use unless you have any other recommendations. By the way, the link you posted earlier doesn't work.

Rooting this phone is easy. Make sure you have Samsung drivers installed, download Odin, download custom recovery, Odin custom recovery, download and flash systemless root. Done.
Do a search and you'll find what you need.
Use this thread. Takes like 5 minutes. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3187422

Please be aware that you will lose Samsung Pay by tripping Knox and there's no way of getting it back. You will also lose Android Pay while rooted.
