Hey brothas I'm kind of still learning about the capabilities of our smartphones as far as performance goes but I am really curious as to why whenever your downloading an app or anything
The phone runs so crappy and becomes very unresponsive and slow...I've never seen this happen on my mytouch 4g or even my g1...but whatever its downloading, it downloads it super fast but I just don't understand this phone has a dual core processor you would think it would be able to download anything and still run smooth...I dunno guys I am just curious if anyone knows why or even has a fix...its like this for me on all roms and kernels..my thought is when your downloading something the CPU focuses all its power on that download therefore everything else is slow..but I dunno like I said I am kind of a noob and always looking to learn...appreciate some input..thanks brothas

I was actually wondering about this myself. I get that slowdown too, and especially as it's installing the app or whatever it is I've downloaded.
Doesn't bother me TOO much, I just kind of chill out, while it installs... But a curiosity none-the-less.
Haven't noticed any slowdown while dl'ing. Just dl'ed a 3meg kernel in like 5 seconds.

He's saying the phone becomes unresponsive and slow. The downloads are incredibly fast...

I can confirm this. I think the main issue is, is that we are using software that was never intended for a dual core processor so the end result is random reboots, lag when downloading apps, etc. Even the Sensation which has a dual core processor has its share of software glitches/issues. Let's hope that when Ice Cream Sandwich (Google's next update with dual core processor support) comes out that we'll either automatically get the update from LG/T-Mobile or LG/Nvidia will release the necessary drivers and/or files to the XDA community.

No problem here. Stock rom runs great while downloading. No lag.

Sorry for the misunderstanding the phone is fine when downloading, but whenever its doing an install for whatever reason it gets unresponsive or extremely laggy for a short second. Try downloading something from the market and then when it starts to install browse the web and see what it does. This is definitely not a major or a minor issue for me since it does this for only a quick second.

Ok, so if you go to market and then go to myapps...and there's like 12 things that need to be updated...and you start clicking one by one, update, ok, update, ok, etc...you never feel any hiccup of lag when it's at the install phase of any of those?
I feel this all of the time. Especially when I use CM's market apps installer that defaults after installing a new nightly...when I have almost all of them checkmarked, then it takes me to the market page for each one of them individually. And it has nothing at all to do with internet connection or speed, because it's the same whether I'm using my 6MBps 4g, or my 36MBps wifi at home. Sometimes, the hiccup will even make me click the wrong button by accident.
my pc,6 core amd, 6 gigs ram, sometimes becomes sluggish while installing graphic card drivers etc. i wouldn't put too much thought into it. it usually takes about 5 seconds to install an app.

Yeah, I agree this isn't much of a big deal at least to me. I can live with it. I was just agreeing with the OP since I also noticed the short bit of lag.

Its not the download that causes the phone to be slow. When you're installing an app, the processor is being used and it will slow down the phone, especially when you're updating/installing multiple apps. My g1, droid, captivate, and g2x have done this. My ipod touch did it too.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I find that this only happens when installing an app from the google market. When installing apk's from any other source it seems to be fine.
Also as a note, after updating to the new google app i have noticed that it doesnt slow down anymore. It might be me, but i think its just the old market app.
I got this slow down on every Android phone I've owned except my Sensation. Maybe Gingerbread fixed it?

Thanks for the input guys I kind of agree with the person who said it slows down because the software isn't optimized for dual cores yet..seems to make sense as with all the other issues caused by this crappy software and drivers LG gave us because like I said I never had this problem with mytouch 4g nor my g1..but thanks for the input brothas..godless u guys

Your welcome and check out the link below. Even Qualcomm, the company who has designed processor chips for phones such as the myTouch 4g, HTC Sensation, Evo 3d etc. also agrees with my statement about the software not being supported for dual core processors. That's why some of you may have noticed that your previous 1ghz single core phone was either just as fast as these dual core phones or even faster in day to day use. For instance my myTouch 4g (when rooted with Faux Aosp build clocked at stock 1ghz) and Stock Nexus felt just as fast as the G2x when opening and closing apps and even scrolling through the browser (the myTouch 4g scrolled through the browser just as smooth as the G2x, but the Nexus S did not).

Can you guys help me? I think my Walkman Z's broken. I went into the running applications menu and checked how much RAM is being used. The Z's supposed to have 1GB of RAM. It showed up as 97MB used and 247MB free. This doesn't add up to 1GB and it's worrying me, I know that the system uses some RAM but 700MB? That doesn't seem right.
Thanks!
I have no idea if something is wrong with your phone.
But.. you can always try to do a factory reset. It´s a good start and then check if there is an update to your phone.
Dont forget to back up your stuff.

I`ve already tried all of those methods. I`m just going to take it to the Sony Store. Hopefully this is covered by warranty.
Ok. I hope it will work out for you.
Let us know whats happens after that
Is strange the ram from 1gb to 97 +250 please let us know what happen.. I think is just one idea if the phone has 2 ram modules of 512 each one of those could fail? And the other one is there.. Is just one idea:banghead:

The ROM wouldn't boot if the RAM was Brocken haha stuff just doesn't break in a phone none of them ram meters is right the only real ones are the ones like in v6 supercharger

I think one of the modules is in fact broken. When using this app it only detects 512MB of RAM. I tested it on my Galaxy Tab and it shows 1GB so the app seems to be accurate.

My PC boots with one ram chip. Why wouldn't it be possible for a cell phone to do the same?

But ohhoho a phone isnt a PC it doesn't have a bios that would recognise the ram first of all or that its even gone. All the parts on the phone work in harmoney and when something internal breaks the whole phone does. And the ram is built into the motherboard so that would mean you have a broke motherboard. Do you really think the phone will function then? Please try to use a little sense lol.

I'm actually using some sense. Ram chips do go bad. If there's disk 512mb chips n one went bad then he wouldn't have 1gb ram. They go bad for many different reasons thus not affecting the motherboard. The only problem is you can't swap out ram like you can with a PC.
You say a cell phone ain't a PC but android is a form of Linux. Linux doesn't need a bios to work. Allot of devices out there run a form of Linux without a bios. Wi-Fi routers, cable boxes, ps3, blu-ray players, Nintendo Wii , etc etc.......
I've had devices where the ram has gone bad n they still worked. Just not at a 100%. I'm speaking for experience n knowledge. I'm a developer for android. I work with the ROM n kernel source code. All the devices I have worked on I haven't seen no fail safe in the android source code that will prevent the phone from booting. I have seen the code that loops at the ram n reports the ram found.

I'm going to the Sony Store today, gonna see what they have to say about this.
They told me that they've repaired it, I bet they didn't do anything
Hello.
I used to get around 600MB free ram when I got my phone with around 10 applications installed while mobile is idle.. Now I get around 1GB free ram after using greenify application and disable some useless system applications.
I really like greenify.

What is dsploit? I've not heard of it.
Yes this phone runs on arm. Almost all Android phones do.

I searched here to see if rooting a Droid Ultra 4.4.4 is possible, but I see a definite NOPE. I wanted to use GLTools, which requires root, so I could play Half Life 2 and Portal on my phone. So my question is:
Are there any other graphics optimizers (If at all) that DON'T require root access?
I cleared 2.1GB for Half Life 2 on my phone and it will be disappointing if I can't play it. I have the app, I can run it, but it just leads to a black screen and closes after the opening logos; I assume this happens because it can't load everything with the device's limited capabilities; Therefore the need for a graphics optimizer like GLTools.
