I would recommend trying to install these Samsung USB Drivers and then seeing if your phone is recognized by the computer. Let me know if you still have questions.

I would uninstall any otherr usb drivers your previously installed for your device and try again, if that still doesn't work I would recommend taking a look at these Universal USB Drivers.

install Samsung USB drivers latest version

Also try connecting to another PC just to be sure it is not a windows issue.

I have the same problem. My Windows 7 Professional doesn't recognize the SR. It saw my Captivate no problem.
Funny thing is, my Macbook Air recognizes the SR and it never recognized the Captivate. This is just bizarre...
My MacBook recognizes it through Kies right away, you shouldn't need drivers for that actually, or for USB mass storage mode
Hi,
had same problem.
I replaced the newest version of "kies" by an older version and it works. My phone is now recognized.
Hmm which older version did u use?
Thank u all btw
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA App
it's 2.0.3.11082_152
Thank you,
Turned out that the USB cable i was using didnt work with the S2 so I switched to stock one and that worked. I then downloaded the older Kies as suggested above, Thank you, and that worked.
I then rooted it and everything is working great.
Thank you all.
Now deciding and researching new ROMs

Presume you are not connecting thru a USB hub? If not, try a reinstall of the Samsung USB drivers to your PC.

Initially connected through hub but tried direct of the comp, still the same problem.
Found this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1727473&page=3
and tried the various fixes suggested, still no joy. Basically, MTP driver will not install, either windows or samsung's.
Guess I will have to return the item to stock once I've worked out how to do it.
Shame really as I would have liked to gone down the 'root' path, though being pretty much a noob to android hasn't helped.

Besides samsung kies, you should also uninstall and reinstall the correct drivers from the samsung website. Also sometimes something as simple as getting a new usb cable will fix this probem. Sounds kinda dumb but ive had samsung phones that work with one cable and are not recognized by another.

I've had that cable problem too, it was due to a cheapo "charge only" USB cable that came with a free charger... lesson learned!
[Solved] Odin doesn't detect your phone. Drivers error. Blah Blah...
Folks!
Your phone BRICKED???
ODIN Doesn't detect your phone???
Shows Driver Error Code 37???
Stuck in bootloop???
Well Well!
Everything is fine.
Don't just try all the solutions online.
The problem is installation of samsung drivers over and over again is replacing the existing drivers instead of wiping them out. So, the drivers have become incompatible with your device and as well as ODIN.
The solution is very simple.
Just reinstall your operating system of pc, install drivers and then You will definitely find what the magic with the drivers.
Hope you found it helpful...

[Q] USB device not recognized : Cyanogen Mod 11 " Android Kitkat

Hi All,
I upgraded my Galaxy S Plus GT 19001 from Gingerbread to Kitkat. Everything seems to work fine except that, the device is not recognized once I connect it to my laptop. It does not show anything in the mobile and does not even show anything in PC and device manager. Enabled developer options, tried connecting, a message comes up for few seconds for device not recognized and then it disappears. No trace anywhere.
Checked several blogs and forums but no help.
What to do? Please help.. :crying::crying::crying:
I used to have this problem but a pc reboot always solved it temporarily. Try updating the drivers as well, you made a big jump from gingerbread to kk.

When you say drivers, which drivers do you mean? The device manager does not show any yellow triangle which can be updated. I am wondering what to be done...

Try downloading the latest Samsung drivers again and reinstalling them. Delete the old ones.
Seems most likely a driver related issue.I had a hard time recently connecting my Galaxy Grand running CM11 to a windows 8.1 laptop. Downloaded the samsung drivers and installed them.Worked fine after that.

First uninstall and reinstall the drivers for your phone. Get them from Samsung site just to be safe. also try redownloading odin from a different website, could be a bad download. and 'm assuming you have a good USB cable and good USB Ports.
also what model phone are you using? that's in settings--about device--model number

Hi, I'm kinda having the same problem the original poster is having.
My problem is, my windows 7 computers do not see the phone at all, no matter which cable/USB port I use. No beep, no trying to install drivers, no nothing. I'm assuming that unless windows sees the device to begin with... I won't be able to use kies or Odin or heimdall or adb or anything right?

ok, have you checked device manager to see if the phone shows up there? and you're right if it isn't being detected than you can't use it basically lol. I know sucks.
honestly, download the drivers manually and install them. If you're not sure how to check device manager or find the drivers google is you're friend :good: hope you get it working!

Drago, thanks for trying to help me, can't tell you how much I appreciate it bro. Now when it comes to windows, I'm no noob, I actually own a small business going out to people's houses and fixing their computer/WiFi/printer problems. So device manager, yeah I tried "scanning for new hardware" tried and tried, checked and checked, restarted, tried safe mode, tried using different administrator account, nothing. That's when I got this gut sinking feeling, what if something is wrong with the USB port on the phone.
It's a SM-S820L, galaxy core prime. No sound when I plug it in, nothing shows up in 'my computer', no tuh noon sound, and I remember back when the phone was working like normal, I tried to get a picture or two off of it by plugging it in while it was on, I remember it showed up in windows no problem, even without the drivers from Samsung installed. Now nothing happens, even though it says download mode.
I still need your help Drago, don't forget about me

alright well you have one of 3 issues then honestly.
1. phone USB port like you said
2. the PC/laptop USB or..
3.cable or driver issues.
make sure your completly uninstall the phones drivers in device manager while the phone is plugged into the PC. next unplug the phone, restart, reinstall actuall samsung drivers, than try pluggin in again. use a known working USB port also.
sorry I can't give you an answer that's the best I can think of, let me know how it goes!

You can try redownloading Odin and also running Odin as an administrator, that's been the case one in a while. lastly uninstall and reinstalling drivers could help. If this does'nt do it sorry, I'm all out of ideas.
I have same problem with Odin v4.42 and work with Odin3_v3.04,try different version of Odin.
