You have to tell us the ROM you've flashed, as already mentioned.
And before flashing a ROM you should read the info-> there should be written Format SD this way... or DalvikCache on SD or Something else...
Btw. Why do you care about a non SD-Rom? usually you have your SD in the Phone otherwise buy a cheap one....so you got two... and don't have to care anymore...

from the link you gave there's this lines :
NOTE
For this rom to working correctly you will need to have 3 partitions on your memory card.
Fat32
ext2/3
linux-swap
in that correct order The swap partition will need to be atleast 32 mb. Making larger won't help as that is the size I have left to. may change later but 32 seems to be more then suffcient.

so yes... you'll need your SDCARD to boot ..
if you want to use another SDCARD, just partition the new SDCARD like the old one and just copy the content from the old one ..
you can use the recovery image to partition the new SDCARD.

it's because the sd card is partitioned.. you need to re-partition (make it just one partition) and reformat it ..
just use fdisk on your PC to do it .. or there could be an option on the recovery image to do this (not sure, just check it)..

[Q] Stock Rom + Partitions

First of all,i am really happy to announce (for those who came across with my desperate threads trying to solve my battery drain over 3G network issue) that flashing XXJPU Rom + Removing the partitions (swap + external extra storage) of my SD Card solved my problem. Battery is not draining anymore, and everything is working just fine with the stock rom.
The question is : Can i partition my SD Card again (to add internal storage, since i´ve came across the damn "Internal Storage is Nearly Full" message) ?
If yes, will i have to reflash the rom or , do anything else then just creating the partition using the Minitool software ?
Thanks in advance, and thanks again for those who tried to help me !
No need to make a new partition, extend the current one by minitool/gparted
I have o only one big partition used to store normal content. I need to make a new one to use as a extra internal storage space.. So i do need to partition it, all i need to know is if it will work and if i will have to do something else after partitioning it

What can we do partition in our stock rom which would use as internal storage...? How to do it please teach me..

If you create a partition on your SD Card as EXT2 ( i guess its EXT2 ) ,your OS will use it as internal storage.
Doing this, will solve the low internal storage issue.
I Just dont know if it works on stock roms,it does work on Kyrillos, inDroid, Sumee etc.
@OP i though u already had one partition when you said partition again
if your sd is as it is(just one partition)
then do this
flash g3mod
reboot into recovery
and partition
its the fastest way to get a partitio
then you can use an app2sd/data2sd script (system/etc/init.d)
Or if you have a card reader
use minitool/gparted to partition
shrink the existing one and make a new partiton(ext4)
and yea backup ur data, just in case!

Thanks for the reply : )
I will use minitool since i know how to use it.
After creating a EXT4 Partition, what will i need to actually tell my OS to use it as internal storage ?
Will i need to reflash rom ? Run any script (like Data2SD) ?
Also, is the Kernel or the Rom that actually recognizes the partitions and use them ?
EDIT : Hey @cdesai i just partitioned my SD using minitool creating a EXT2 Partition for internal storage upgrade.
Following again,this tutorial here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=SD_card_partitioning
Titaniun backup is not recognizing the extra space, what do i have to do now ?

Hmm.
ext4 would be a bit better but ext2 is also ok
now keep an a2sd script in /system/etc/init.d
there is a thread in dev section by kyrillos with the script and instructions, use it
or flash a custom rom which already has it
and yes you need a kernel with init.d support, but every custom kernel has that feature(cf-root,fugumod,g3mod,simplicity,etc.)

use a custom room like indroid, kyrillos etc & enjoy after partition, set the restore location as "internal" in the titanium setting before restoring apps

[Q] [Question] [Help] Linking Apps to sd-ext(second partition)

Hello there, I'm getting a problem linking my apps to sd-ext. I partitioned my sd-card. Mounted script (in link2sd I choosed sd-ext4 not sure if doing right). It told me to reboot. I did. Then when I tried to link my random picked pre-installed app
it showed and error i guess like 'read only file system' or something. No.idea how to fix it. Help needed.
Correct me if I'm doing wrong. Any reason why I'm facing this error. Or tell me your own steps.
Extra Info: using CM10 beta #3. But tried it on CM9 #11 and faced the same problem.
Thank you!
I promise I'll hit the 'Thanks' button.
No sorry I selected ext2. It shows error while mounting ext4 and FAT 16/32
U must be on stock rom !! Right?
As it dont have ext support! So make the secrond partition also as fat32 but logical! Then try and tell if it helps

Ohh sorry!!
Most people use link2sd on stock!! Anyways if u are on cm10 just download and flash m2sdnoconfig.zip from this thread and remember to reboot twice!! All internal memory problems gone

No, the exact error I get is 'mkdir: /dalvic-cache read only file system'.
PS, tell me if there is any way to increase the internal memory by merging part of memory from sd-card.

The method you told didn't work. Flashing any of the zip mounts2sd(or no config) made my phone stuck on HTC logo. Rebboting 2 times or implementing emulator commands are later things :/ Now tell what to do?

Dafaq???
Stock doesent have ext support!!! Whos phone did u test in?? Alien's??

ext3 format?

So I am going to flash my phone to the ICS Debloated for the droid thunderbolt. problem? one step says
4ext Recovery
Make sure to format in ext3 format!
You need to wipe everything!!!!
There is no data wipe built in so folks can reflash at will and restore system.
First time, wipe everything!!! All partitions except SD!
Especially if coming from GB or AOSP!
Ok so i have 4ext recovery fully installed on my phone.
but how do i format to ext3 what is it, what does it do, and how do i go about perfecting this so i can flash my phone in flying colors. some one please help.
ext3 is file system used in Linux
There should be some software for windows to format partition in ext3.
Maybe some drivers could help.

Use Cm 10.2 Weekly 6 !
When you partition your sd, You, what you may say, reserve a portion of your sdcard to be used for a specific purpose only. You can use the partition to install apps as internal memory. That partition is known as the sd-ext partition.
