Hi All,
After unlocking the bootloader, I used paul's Superboot to get root and used ROM manager to flash the latest CWM. All is well except every-time I reboot, I lose the signal (it shows emergency calls only) and I have to search for available networks in Mobile network settings.
Anyone else having this issue? Any fixes?
Cheers,
Sonny
Solution:
In the dialpad enter *#*#4636#*#*
Select phone information
Scroll down to preferred networks
Select "WCDMA only"
Click on Update
You need to re-enter the SMSC Carrier number. For WIND Mobile Canada, SMSC is 16135009000
Android requires you to enter this info in Hex.
Hex = 07916131059000F0
In the dialpad enter *#*#4636#*#*
Select phone information
Scroll down to SMSC field, enter 07916131059000F0 and done. Then reboot.
Me too
I have the same problem, anyone else?
Anyone else having this issue?
@sonnysekhon
sonnysekhon, although not a solution, turning Airplane mode on and off resolves this faster than searching for the network operator then registering.
i get that on my XT720
but not on my SNS
even on the XT720 it is only until it finishes booting up.
i think the SNS is faster than the XT720 when it comes to finding the signal

Ah, thanks, I missed it. I don't re-read OP on most threas unless it's a dev thread.
Sorry to post to an old thread, but I also get this problem.
I'm on stock 2.3.4 with 9020t nexus s, upon reboot it goes to a "no service" and I'm on mobilicity. Does anyone have the smsc # for mobilicity?
I've found 16478000106 on a random post and it doesnt seem to fix the problem. I've switched it to hexi format, to 0791617408000106 with WCDMA only and still no fix.

Hey,
For Mobilicity Canada Hex = 07916174080001F6.
Just tried 07916174080001f6 with WCDMA only. Still comes up with "No Service" at the top notification bar. Also tried to manually select and reboot the phone with the smsc settings.
Is there something I'm missing here? I've gone back to stock waiting for cm for 2.3.4 which I'm a bit paranoid it might have tampered with few settings.
EDIT: Problem fixed! Went to wireless settings and hit "Search automatically" and rebooted the phone. Connection was a zero for 10 seconds or so until it locked in with network. No service is definitely gone, thanks again Sonny!
Does anyone know the carrier info that I need for Koodo Mobile? I tried calling them but they're useless.

thanks! i had lost my ability to send texts (but still was able to receive) and inputting this into my SMSC fixed it!!
EDIT: RIGHT AFTER POSTING, MY PHONE RANDOMLY STARTED WORKING. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I DID BESIDES POST HERE. MAGIC.
I installed Cyanogen version 7.2.0 just fine using the guide that was found here: http://www.mrmuh.com/2012/01/update-a-motorola-milestone-from-motorola-firmware-to-cyanogenmod-7/
However, the next morning I think I enabled the 2g/3g switch widget - and then my phone entered into a constant and continuous loop of "com.android.phone has unexpectedly closed" - and couldn't connect to cell service.
In a panic, I searched everywhere for fixes. I then tried a few of the fixes which instructed you to download "sqlite editor" and do some edits to the settings file. I did this, along with a couple of other network edits, resetting them to "0" instead of the "1" they were currently set to. No help.
Finally, I went into the Open Recovery system and did a full reset on cache/factory reset/etc. and then rebooted into cyanogen. Now my network won't even connect for a half a second and then crash like before - just straight up NO CONNECTION.
Now I've went through and attempted changing back some of those settings I messed around with in Sqlite - but to no avail.
Anyone with any ideas on how I can get an operating phone again, please let me know. I noticed I still have all my apps from previously, so I don't think I'm really factory resetting the phone. That could be part of the issue, I'm sure....I am very depressed and hoping for a miracle!!
Look into installing minimod recovery and then flashing the correct radio for your location after a full wipe.
If you do a google search you should find minimod. I'm on my phone or I would just link you.

OK Thanks for your reply.
However, randomly, just after I posted this - I looked down and my phone had a full 2G Connection. Went into baseband settings, enabled 850 band 3G, and now I have full 3G connectivity.
I have no clue how this happened. XDA forum is magical?
Thanks again for your reply, but thankfully I don't need the minimod suggestion as of now!!
You're welcome. You might want to go ahead and install minimod though. I made the mistake of not having it installed and flashed a new rom without the ability to select bands and was without a phone all day. It's better safe than sorry.

Sorry if Im not posting correctly, I've used this site a lot for research and whatnot, but couldn't find anything on this topic. So whenever I install a custom rom that is not ICS, I have no data, and barely any service. I installed NUMA and that has been working great, but whenever I try any Jellybean Roms (Carbon, Avatar, Pac-ROM) I have the issue with data and service. I have no idea if I'm installing them wrong or anything, what I usually have done to install roms (and it works with ICS), is to open the Boot Menu Manager while the phone is booting, going into recovery, then preform a factory reset, after that I install the Rom from ZIP. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, it'll be greatly appreciated.
Check the apn settings
Settings > wireless and networks (click more) mobile networks > access point names
If this correct, try to disable sim card pin lock on stock ics system

When I checked the Access Point Names list, there is nothing in the list, should there be something?
Sorry if I sound stupid, I am completely new to rooting.

The link is good.. my first attempt also failed but thats because I had blocked malware on my browser.. Its not malware.. its the correct Rom.. I have confirmed this is the correct working Rom link. In Google Chrome disable Malware Blocking: Settings > Show Advanced Settings > TURN OFF/Untick 'Enable Phishing and Malware Protection.

I am able to use this phone on any carrier since I got the unlock code for it. The only bad thing is that I have to enter it every time I restart or turn on the phone. The unlock code was given to me with the phone but can be obtained from www.unlocksamsungonline.nl for $20.
The guide works fine, except I don't have no issues to back up or restore my phone with twrp. Am using version 27.

You should NOT try this if your new to flashing and have never really tried it.. things can go wrong if your not careful.
This phone has a physical sim slot but it is NOT used.. remove a sim if you inserted one.. SM-S975L is only for straighttalk.. you need to call straighttalk and give them your phones IMEI number. (found under back cover or under Settings > More TAB > Status.
FIRST check your APN settings like the guide and that last attached picture shows. if your having any kind of trouble with 4G data this is the first thing I check.
Let me know if this helps.

I am still having restore issues for the Data partition.. I make a backup of boot, system, and data.. reboot.. wipe system and format data.. then wipe data and it fails to restore data.. In a emergency you only need boot and system.. it will rewrite your data partition but you basically start from day 1 on 4.4.2.
EDIT: I found I had a fake SD Card.. I bought one off eBay and I had problems SO I ran a SD Tester and it came back as FAKE.. Seriously.. It said 32GB but was really 2GB.. so I would write data and then try to read it and it was corrupted because of the fake SD Card.

Correct.. but if your installing a new ROM with new android version I would recommend wiping Everything.. not everything will carry over and its best to start a new ROM with a clean slate. I was trying to backup and restore the same ROM.. like saving my personal settings and such so if something happened I could just rollback to the safe point in time. but what I found is if something happens you need to Factory Wipe only your Data and start fresh with your current ROM (4.4.2).

Ok.. i got what your saying.. my phone when i first got it home running Android 4.3 also said 4G.. if your go to Settings > More TAB > About Device > Status .. under Mobile Network Type it should say LTE.. thats normal.. also the 4G is normal for Android 4.3 on THIS phone (SM-S975L).. it doesnt mean your getting your speed lowered, its just how its displayed at the very top.. when i upgraded to 4.4.2 on this phone it says 4G LTE but its the same speed as before when i run Speedtest App from Play Store.

ohhhhh ok yeahh ! lol it does say LTE .. deng yeah had me all confused .. kaye well thanks very much mmm one more question what are the best apn settings for it .
I have a SPH-L720 from Sprint, it was running the 4.4.2 stock rom, the phone was unlucked and working under Movistar here in Mexico (i dont have idea of the method used for unlock the phone).
So, yesterday i rooted the phone without problems, installed de CWM recovery, made a backup of my stock rom, wiped data and cache and installed the cm-12.1-20150413-OPTIMIZED-jflte ROM (from this tutorial tinyulr .com/ooqye9s ), the install completed, i started the phone with no problems, proceeded to install the Gapps, and the phone was working good, my network and data worked (had internet, could make calls and send sms), but the phone drained the battery too quick and the camara had some issues, same thing with the dialer (i wasnt able to hang up a call, the red button didn't anything).
So i decided to download the CM Downloader app, search for an update and the app downloaded the "cm-12.1-20150625-NIGHTLY-jfltespr" ROM (i didn't saw or knew about the "JFLTESPR" part), the phone rebooted and installed the update, tha camera and the dialer problem disapeared but the phone didn't recognize the network anymore, it says "No SIM card". i tried to install the cm-12.1-20150413-OPTIMIZED-jflte ROM again, tried to restore the backup of my stock rom, but nothing works, my network s not working and i dont know what to do.
Please help :c
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. Check your apn settings. They probably are not set up correctly for your carrier. Go to settings, wireless and networks, more, cellure networks, access point names. Google yourcarriername apn. You can usually find the correct settings there.

Well, you might have to return your device to stock and start all over using Odin. But first see your device's specific forum here,http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-sprint. All and specifically ask your question here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2374543. They are the experts on your device and will be off more help than I.
