GSam Stats Resetting - Verizon HTC One (M8)

Does anyone else experience an issue where GSam stats start over. This seems to happen to me all the time. It will be tracking battery stats and then for no reason, I will go and check the stats and they have been reset and start over. It happens even when I don't reboot my phone. Very frustrating.

It had to be a problem with touchwiz. I never experienced it on my former phones I.e. LG G2,oneplus one, LG Gain pro but it happens on my Samsung S5 neo that u just bought.

[Q] Strange battery life issue - screen using 130%?

I took my Shield Tablet (stock 5.0/rooted) off the charger at around 8 am today starting at 100% (charged while completely off), and at 11am I noticed it was at 49%. I'd only done some mild gaming (Terra Battle), and Comixology reading, so it struck me as a little low, but what confused me more was the battery stats page. Screen shows at 130%, System at 10% and everything else in single digits.
Anyone know what's going on here and how to fix it? I've rebooted and will be watching out for whether it happens again, but would be happy about feedback from anyone who's experienced a similar issue. Thanks in Advance!
Since you are rooted you should use an app like Better Battery Stats to log what is going on.
This way you can identify which app is causing the drain and take measures to prevent it.
Known cause in quite some cases is Facebook after applying the ota to 5.0.
Solution is to remove the facebook app, do a factory reset and install the app fresh from playstore.

I've installed Better Battery Stats so I'll see if I can figure anything out through it...
My guess is that the screen has used 130% of the batteries capacity. If you look at the bottom of the graph it says stats since last full charge. I gave my niece my old first gen nexus 7 with lollipop and a few days later looked at the battery stats. Her screen was listed as 160%. It hadn't been fully charged since I gave it to her. The screen brightness was maxed out and she tends to leave it on the ground with a video playing. The screen obviously uses a lot of power so its not hard to imagine it was over 1.5 times the batteries capacity.

The only problem I have is the incredibly short battery life. There has to be a problem with my phone, because I'll have a battery life of about 5 hours on a good day, but usually 2 or 3. The phone will get mildly hot, and all battery will drain rapidly. I will regularly lose ~40-50% in an hour after it starts heating up. I've been simply dealing with it for a while, after a failed attempt to find a solution on Google. I regularly close my apps, and I even have powersaver on at all times now. Last night, I closed all apps, then restarted my phone. It was at 98 when I fell asleep. I woke up 9 hours later and it was dead. I have checked the battery info a couple times, but I don't ever see anything rapidly draining battery. Could this be a hardware problem?

Try to calibrate your battery first.
I suggest reinstalling the software using Samsung's smart manager and updating to 5.1.1, I never had your issues but noticed a big improvement with battery life. I'm sure you have a rogue app somewhere running havoc. There's also a lot of things you can do to improve battery life after reset, like disabling background data on certain apps that you need need constantly connecting and using data like Facebook when it's not even in use. Just play around with your phone to know the ins and outs

Thanks for the suggestion. Where is the Smart Manager? I Googled it, and found a thread saying
It is included on the phone, however there is no way to access it that I've found. You can find it under Application Manager - ALL. Scroll down to Smart Manager and select it, you will find that the app is running but we are cannot access it and the DISABLE button is grayed out. My guess is that Verizon wants us to use their My Verizon Mobile app instead of Smart Manager. I heard that AT&T did the same thing.

I suggest wiping the cache. I was experiencing a similar issue. After wiping the cache, consumption return to normal.

98% gone during 9 hours of sleeping? wow...
1) Do the factory reset, full wipe and see if its gonna get any better.
2) If still the same problem, then download latest firmware for your model from sammobile.com http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G920V/ and flash it via Odin / Download mode
If still the same issue, then contact samsung for the warranty :X

You might try a Sprint fix since your Verizon S6 has CDMA too. Since you've got a Verizon phone, this setting may be somewhat different. On my Sprint S6, I changed the setting under 'Mobile Network', then 'Network Mode' to LTE/CDMA' instead of 'Automatic'. That made my battery life much better. I think I remember a friend with a Verizon S6 and it had 'Global' instead of 'Automatic'. So change it out of 'Global' mode and see what happens.

Abnormal battery drain

I have a 20 day old galaxy s6 duos. It was bough new off ebay. I was functioning properly and when on holiday I dropped it onto a tiled concrete floor from a height of 2-3 feet.
Since then the battery has been draining abnormally.
I have disabled apps still no joy. Then ran the phone in safe mode with no improvement. Then did a reset using software with no improvement. Then wiped cache but still no joy. Then wiped cache and hardware reset. Finally disabled all apps and forced stopped a few more. Put the phone in airplane mode but despite that the phone is drains 10 %per hour with the phone not being used.
No apps running on the battery usage screen the only thing shown is device idle 1 %. .
I cant understand how dropping the phone can cause the battery to malfunction . Any ideas or suggestions ? Or something else I should be trying.
I wish it was easy to change the battery but that is not the case . I just wanted to see if anyone else has suggestions before I go down the route of replacing the battery.

SM-G930F huge battery drain (even after switching phones)

I've bought the international version of the S7 (the only one available here in Portugal) which is the SM-930F on the last tuestday (2016-09-16).
During the wednesday, I've noticed that the battery drained really fast, but I thought that it was because of the whole first-day configuration / installing 50 apps thing.
On thursday (yesterday), I removed it from the charger at 8h30, barely used it, and at around 13h00 it had 44% battery. I don't have a lot of background syncing or anything like that, just the normal I've used on other phones before the S7.
I've read somewhere from people that had similar problems and they said a factory reset solved. I did a factory reset but the battery kept draining at the same rate.
So, at around 20h30 I went to the store and asked for a replacement. Exactly the same model and color.
I went home, installed all apps and updated everything so I could test it today without updates and downloads. I didn't restore any settings from previous installations.
Today I took it off from the charger again at around 9h00, it's 14h30 and it has 64% and I barely touched it! I've checked some stuff at lunch time for like 10min, that's all.
What can possibly be wrong here? Everyone on the internet says that this phone's battery life is one of the best out there, but it's draining faster than any of my previous phones!
Both the original and replacement phones were sealed in the box.
Any ideas?

Most of times battery consumption is due to settings , WIFI , e-mail sync , location , rogue app , facebook..... review them......maybe do a factory reset , install nothing and see how it behaves , install app in smaller lots to see if there an increase on battery drainage , if you where root there is an app that is great to see exactly who is the culprit

If it was a rogue app, wouldn't that show up in battery usage?
For apps, syncing, location and network, I have the exact same settings I had in my previous Note 4 and LG G2, and nothing like this ever happened.
Location is on all the time, I'm connected to my company's WiFi, 4G always on (overriden by the WiFi most of the time).
The only thing I didn't have in those phones was the "screen always on" of the S7 that shows the time, which reviewers say that it's so optimized that it barely makes a difference.
I wouldn't be complaining if it were draining a bit faster than the Note 4 or the old LG G2, but it's actually draining like 4-5 times faster!
Yesterday I had both the G2 and the S7 with me, with all the same apps, with a SIM card from the same network/account.
When I reached the store, the S7 had almost critical battery, while the G2 had around 80%...
The S7 didn't get hot or anything.
I will wait a couple days to see if it improves, but it's extremely disappointing, after spending 730€ on a new phone (around $820).

Battery drainage is a Bit** , some time is hard to find out what is going on and you need to be patient and methodical
to your questions

Not necessary , may be is a process and do not show in there , most times you need a better app (BBS the link i gave you) and be root to see those process , or by discarding apps to find out

Different phones , not necessarily the apps behave the same in different phones

Try different settings and see if they make a difference , see what apps are using location , do not have wifi on all the time during sleep......
In my case i do not have even half of that drainage , of course we all use the phone in different ways and have different apps......as i said is a royal pain in the a** and need to be patient and methodical to find out if is a real hardware problem or a configuration problem

Maybe you can install Better Battery Stats and wait for it to give you some answers.
I would suspect that the phone has trouble connecting to network, WiFi or mobile network or tries to constantly fix to gps signals. A constant search for better connection results problems like yours. If you can, try another operator sim for a day, or try another location.
Perhaps do not use wifi for a day to rule out bad compatibility with your routers settings.
My S7 SM-930F do not lose ever one percent per hour if left unused with everything on and no powersaving.
Did you use Memory card ? I had similar issue on S4. There was damaged file and phone tried read it whole time.
I had the similar problem which was caused by Email App. Try to install Wakelock Detector Lite and see which app drains the battery most. In my case, Email app was preventing phone to enter deep sleep mode and it can not be seen in Android battery statistics.
Wakelock Detector does not need root but you need to enable developer mode and use adb shell. Code is below, you can Google it for how to.

So I've waited a couple days and the battery seems perfect now. I've unplugged it yesterday at around 12h30, used 9gag, browser, facebook, youtube, gmail (a bit of everything, actually) and now it's almost 10h00 and it still has 44%.
I've installed that GSam app and it seems that the phone was transferring lots of stuff through WiFi in the first 2 days, I assume that was the cause.

Thank you for reporting back on how this went for you! Not everyone is so good at doing us this favour!
A lot is going on with a newly initiated mobile and perhaps it was a new firmware too that was downloading in the first days and together with everything else the battery life seems terrible to start with. My S7 downloaded a new firmware and flashed it in my first few hours with the phone and I didn’t notice before it wanted to reboot to flash. Together with all other updating going on if you reinstall apps and set things up it takes a while for the poor thing to settle!
The switching of phones did of course make the whole process start from scratch again and this made the problem seem even worse to you!
Well, Samsung should put some kind of warning in the box or something, I was getting extremely disappointed. I'm very happy now though, the phone seems to be amazing.

Battery draining insanely fast

All of a sudden my battery started draining rapidly. See the attached screenshots for ref. I thought maybe it was a software bug since it started happening 2 days ago. I tried booting into the safe mode and the fast drain didn't stop. I also did hard reset with same result. At this point I'm thinking about getting new battery. Just wanna see if xda community has any tips if maybe I've missed something. It's just strange that this sudden degradation happened overnight.
Obviously, that draining is not normal.
In the upper left corner there is a warning that some app is running in background.
When you did the hard reset also you did a restore from some backup? Is the device warm/hot?
Sometimes it shows carrier utility or people apps running in the background. I restored from Google backup (forgot to mention in the OP). Device isn't hot at all.
i stared clean with LeeDroid ROM (had original Sprint ROM on) after wiping the data and the fast battery drain remains. at this point i'm going to replace the batter since it's not a software issue.
I'd definitely say your battery has shat itself. I'd also try something like gsam or battery info in *#*#4636#*#* to see the health of your battery. I'd be interested to know if it reports it as "good" health
It's strange but the standby seems to be better now whereas it was going fast before. Thought maybe it 'fixed' itself, however during a phone call (4min) I lost %3. That's definitely not normal 4636 is not showing any battery info. Can't find anything in gsam showing health status of the battery. Is it in pro?
If the battery drains fast during calls can be due to poor/weak network reception (the modem tries to maintain the best quality and scans the network over and over).
3 sot with 50% (or little more) battery left is a good value, in my opinion.
Oh, when recoveries are made due to some problem is better to not restore from backups. In that backup can be the app or setting that is causing the problem.
Anyway, with the last google play services (14.7.99) I also have noticed a bit more drain during standby.

I have about the same issue. The battery is draining too fast and it's very noticeable when idle, even when idle in safe mode + airplane mode it loose 20% during an 7 to 8h night. I tried all htc nougat and oreo official and unofficial roms and nothing fixed the problem.
I also used the htc diagnostic tool to determine whether my battery is "good" or not and..... according to the diagnostic tool it is "good". Notice that according to diagnostic tool the battery is defective only if it goes from 100 to less than 75% during the test. Mine goes from 100 to 93 during the test which consists in showing a kind of dark grey screen at full brightness during 1 hour.
Even with a battery rated as good I decided to sent my device for repair because it was not good.
I received the device back and it has not been repaired because it passes the diagnosric tool test. test.
So i'll replace the battery myself as soon as i'll receive my new battery.
I suggest you to run the diagnostic tool test and if you get a decrease from 100 to less than 75, they should repair it under warranty, if not, suggest you to replace the battery yourself or pay somebody to do it for you.

I already ordered the battery and will do the replacement myself if the wait times are similar to those of screen replacements. Plus everything points to a bad battery so another test with official app is pointless. Sounds like we both will be doing the swap ourselves.
So I put new battery in and the drain seems slower than before and the charging is not erratic (jumping). When I was removing back cover the black layer came off so I figured it'd be good time to try clear cover mod . I like the look but unsure if anything will interfere with the radios and such due to the missing protection.
