Technically you should make a full backup of the phone via the recovery.
Being that we cannot flash custom recoveries yet you cannot do this step.

Thanks for the answer. May just wait then. I'm really after a way to r/w to the sd card will xposed allow that? When we can do recoveries what would the process be? Thanks again

Then I may have to try it. Guess the worst that can happen is I fubar the phone and have to go play dumb at the store or better yet get my old man to go play dumb I'm guessing when recoveries can be made there will be some sort of instructions on how to. Thanks for the quick replies you must be a vampire like me

Well as of right now the M8 for Vzw is S-OFF and you can flash recoveries. I currently have xposed installed (couldn't get ART to work so xposed it is) and it works perfectly fine.

I know I was saying that ART was not working for me on Skyfall so I installed exposed instead.

Is this to say that with S-OFF and custom recovery/root, the xposed framework is working fine? What about gravitybox?
I'm hoping to pick up an M8 today but (credit the OCD) that cluttered status bar drives me nuts. I'm hoping to use gravitybox (or some other module(s)) to clean that up.
Thoughts?
Edit: nevermind -- looks like I'd need to go with the Sense 6 Toolbox?

From what I've read, parts of gravity box work and some features don't, same with sense 6 xposed mod. Nothing works 100% right now because the apps need to be updated and fixed.

Restoring system app data I would avoid, but to restore user apps use titanium backup. Its free and great if properly used. Just set your filters to make sure you don't include any system apps on your batch backup. And when you restore the apps, I would batch restore the apps and then restore the app data only for apps where you actually need to restore app data.
And don't tell Scott I recommended backing up and restoring.
To the guy scared of borking, don't worry its a good file.

Ok. Sure.
I have never created a ROM, MOD or TOOL that has ever borked anything.
You can see my creation list here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=57713590
If you are still concerned then simply dont flash it and just move on. I dont know what you are so scared of or why are you making such a big deal

Once again, its a stock rooted ROM. Nothing more. Its not a custom ROM. There are no tweaks or no mods, etc. You can provide all the feedback you want. There will be no changes because its stock.

TB Doesnt like this root method. Clear TB data and SuperSU data. Make sure you update binaries in Super SU then set the default permissions to allows allow. Other than that I have no clue. I get root with every app no problem.
Let me guess who rated the thread 2 stars? Hmmmm....
2 starsss. no way it is the best Stock ROM around IMO.
I just rate it 5X.
BTW TB works fine here, it acquires root w/o problem.
Haven't find any issue actually.

I know man... Some people are quick to downgrade something when they dont know how to use it. lol
Some peoples kids!
One possible nice addition would be 4in1 power buttons, even if it was hidden somewhere so the wife couldn't accidentally hit it.. The ability to jump to recovery would be nice since it's pissy to do it the hardware "button"/cold way. I know it's stock, and I greatly appreciate it. I have it loaded for my wife, but jumping to recovery from the device without issues, another app, or a tool kit would be nice. Just an idea. Thanks.
Going to check this out, just want something stock and speedy. CM10 was a bit too unstable for me at the moment. Thanks for the ROM!

Later today I will try to install CM on my S4 and if it's good ... bye bye Samsung KNOX bull****!

Yes think "jfltexx" is the right one for S4 LTE/INT.
Have second thought after I have read CM i9505 buglist ... Link
Want to be totally sure that I can get back to the firmware I'm using at the moment. So I have a lot of questions as well ...
- Which recovery is the best and how to flash it being on CM.
- What about ROOT? Is latest stable version rooted by default, or do I have to (do I need to?) root it?
- Can I restore my apps using Titanium Backup?
AS far as I can read the information from this page http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/CyanogenMod_Installer#Supported_Devices it says that you actually dont need anything.
So, the right recovery and the latest root SHOULD be installed...but I´ve red no confirmation until yet
Thx for you reply.

Hi
I have read information from the link, and it related to root, recovery and backup BEFORE flashing CM.
My questions is what I do AFTER I have flashed CM
- Which recovery is the best and how to flash it being on CM.
- What about ROOT? Is latest stable version rooted by default, or do I have to (do I need to?) root it?
- Can I restore my apps using Titanium Backup?
It might be silly questions, but I only have flashed Samsung Firmwares :cyclops:
I try this installer. This Software install 10.2 M1 Snapshot jfltexx for now,Gapps and Recovery.Really useful. In the feature i hope Cyanogenmod add option to select witch build to install and more information what you really install
I just read the CM page and the Play store entry for the app.
I'm still not sure what this does. Doesn't his just make it easy to install cm on a previously rooted phone? Or is this supposed to take a stock phone without root and install CM automatically?

The installer is more for phones that are coming from stock without root... If you have root & recovery already, you can just flash 10.2 from sd card like any other rom. I've tried cwm and twrp install, twrp was easier for me because you can link the rom zip to the gapps zip and it'll flash it perfectly on the first install.
Very pleased with it, I only wish I did it sooner and got rid of the Samsung bloat lol.

Unfortunately I don't use the IR, or company email exchange, so I haven't been able to test it... Calendar works great, Google calendar... Personally I use aCalendar from play store, really nice interface... To be honest I really haven't noticed any bugs on 10.2 Release Candidate Snapshot. Only if I install Wanam Xposed, or some other ui changing module, they don't agree too well on CM roms.

Cyanogenmod installer
I am incredibly nervous about installing it as I have mucked up when messing with my phone before. It was when I was a no of and I didn't really know about aosp or aokp roms and I had installed a rom that was based on 4.3 and for the tutorial I watched they were on stock Samsung firmware and it turns out you have to do different steps and I learnt that the hard way by getting in a boot loop. Of course I was too nervous to completely brick my phone attempting to self repair it so I forked out £50. I don't want anything to go wrong again. I know this is a lot simpler but I'm still nervous because if something DOES go wrong then I'm screwed. What do you guys think I should do. I really want cyanogenmod on my Samsung galaxy s4 I9505 lte but I'm nervous. Any help or advice would be incredibly appreciated, thanks

[Q] A advanced power menu needed.

I know there is a way to add some options for example Reboot\Reboot Recovery in the power menu like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2594642
But ,I want to know if there is ONE APP can do and redo the change(consider about the OTA) like this:

Yes it does. Some people just wants the Official automatic update without flashing anything and not wait for the OEM and carrier take forever.
My mother's reason why she went with this and my friend's reason.
You could flash CM11 from the automatic installer but that CM11 ROM is pretty buggy

Chill dudes, it was just a question. Android is about freedom, whether you want to root or not is a personal choice. I come from a rooted S2 before my N5 and I would love to root my phone, but I'm just enjoying the phone as it is right now. No need to force your ideals into others' faces.

Installing a particular game off Play Store gives me "Application not installed "-24" error". Sideloading it gives me "App not Installed". Having this issue with 2 games actually (Deemo and Blocky Roads). A little annoyed as I would really wanna get my hands on those games! Then again I'm a little too busy right now to bother doing a backup and rooting + customising.

There is an option in developer options to turn on the advanced four way boot menu, don't know if you need to be rooted for it to work or not since I unlock and root my devices the day I get them.
Edit: Never mind what I said, I must of been running a rom that had this enabled, because I just checked my nexus 7 running purity and the option is not there.

Which ROM is everyone using on their Sprint Note Edge?

I am currently on stock rooted NK1 on my Sprint Note Edge. Has any created or tried using a different ROM that works on our phone? Just haven't seen much development with our version of the Edge.
I'm using the same ROM for now... and yes some development would be nice... I was gonna start the same thread myself. We really need some activity, where are the ROMs? It doesn't have to be all bells and stuff, but something.... possibly with native Hotspot working, & the stereo speaker mod included. I wouldn't be opposed to some Vanilla Lollipop but I'm sure that's a long way off.
Sent from my SM-N915P using Tapatalk 2
I hate these types of threads.
There are 2 ROMs right now, both stock. If these are not top your liking then you can build a new one or try to encourage some one to build it for you (digest what you want and put up some cash). Complaining that there is not enough development is useless, is like going to city hall and complaining that there are not enough parks, but then telling the mayor you are not willing to pay more taxes. Anything you are not woolf to do your self or willing to pay for must not be that important to you.
That said I've been modding away at my phone, but my primary focus had been on fiddling with the radio to fond a domestic/international unlock and enabling disabled LTE frequencies. To me these are more important then ROMs. I math work on ROMs later though. Using an international/T-Mobile ROM shouldn't prove to hard, probably will just need a few modifications and it would work.
I'm just running rooted NK1 with:
Greenify
CWM recovery
Xposed various modules
Sound mod
This combo gives me all I need so haven't really been looking for any complete ROMS... (yet)
More developme t would be nice, but right now I'm personally happy with this set up.

I rooted this way : See my post #6 http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-edge/general/info-galaxy-note-edge-sm-n915-t2945942
And recovery here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...15s-n9150-cwm-based-recovery-6-0-5-1-t2954960
And it looks like you found the greenify app !
I have had zero issues so far, and I would like to see some Edge panel specific mods, but for now - rolling just fine with this set up. Good luck with everything!

Data Enabler widget doesn't work

google play is full of data enabling widget
i tried them all on my htc u11, nothing seems to enable the data, you just have to go to phone setting and enable from there, or by swiping the notification area down to enable the data.
before also i was using the old htc data strip widget wich has 5 icons together and it was working perfectly on HTC 10.
please anybody with any idea?

i've never used modded roms, i always stay on official + root.
i am afraid if i flashed viper rom, i might lose something or feature.
can you share some features or pics for how it looks like?
or any thread regarding this?
thanks

Well since you are rooted and I assume have TWRP installed. You should be able to do a Nand Backup, Flash the ROM of your choice. If you don't like it or missing feature, restore your backup. Easy peesy.
