Is the fitbit app in the play store identical to the one that would otherwise be preloaded on the One?

I see most of the issues listed can be solved with an apk.
Why is a FM radio a big deal?
Tune-in works just fine.
Stock messaging app? Disable it and install Hangouts, Handcent, or Chomp. There are others.
Just saying.

Think the FM is a big deal for people not on unlimited data. FM wouldnt use your data. Also, there is stock SMS app other than VZW's, just have to enable it as default in the settings and then you can disable the VZW one.
Not very happy with the way Verizon releases their phones.. But nonetheless I love the phone and most of these issues are easily remedied.

Do we have the actual hardware for the FM radio in our phone? Basically, do we just need to get the app?
FM radio does work with headphones and the APK's from the sprint (and AT&T) models.

While my one x is charging, wanted to see if I can find workarounds till root is available for a few things:
Battery percent on status bar (something nice looking but lightweight)
No search button, including assigning long press to an app.
Notification toggles
Using nova, and even in a lot of other apps, missing the menu button. Any suggestions or is anyone else having this issue?
Sure would like to restore some of my app data.. Especially for the few games I have.
Any good and battery friendly lock screen replacement? Last I heard widget locker still wasn't ics compatible.
Any way to block ads on an unrooted phone lol?
Anyone get Google voice working?
Sure was spoiled having root during my entire prior android experience. I've went ahead and got this assuming we'll have root in the not so distant future. Just trying to get by till then. I have a hard time seeing myself with anything else but a htc phone but I'll switch to the s3 if nothing changes by the time its released.. Grr.. sure don't want to.
Ty so much for any help I can get.

As far as Google voice is concerned, still can't get it to take. It changed two of my forwarding numbers but won't switch my voicemail in settings, nor does my call history include my google voice mails.

As far as google voice, I set it up on the phone and it would not work correctly, so I logged in on the pc and went to settings and it gave me a code to type into the phone and it works now, but in the voicemail settings on the phone it still says my carrier but under call forwarding it has my gv number
I think I had to deactivate it then reactivate it

I previously used google voice with my inspire. Just seems that some people haven't had issues while some have. Just wondering why
was wondering about the GoogVoice issue as well. dude... i cannot freaking wait until we get this thing rooted. so many problems on the software side. it's pretty horrendous imo. there's quite a lot i'd like to tweak.

Yes, I've used Apex before. Nova (for me at least on the Inspire) just seemed to be smoother (and I had already paid for the prime version). I might give apex another shot on this phone.
There is a Google Voice thread on this forum. It worked for me. You have to log in on the computer and use a number. After that it works like a charm regardless of what the VM settings on the phone say.

Yeah I made a thread about the notification toggles. Its a pretty nice little app.

You can even put your most used apps in the drop down if you want.

Wondering if anyone tried any of these on AOSP 4.3.1 roms on the s3 yet? if so are they running right?
I've been using Hangouts for about an hour. Its working fine so far with texts, I haven't sent MMS yet.
I'm fairly certain I installed the newest Google keyboard but I can't tell since everything looks the same as when I last used Google keyboard a couple months back.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 4
ok so far I have tried and got working:
Google Play Services (Install first for some of the new apps to work)
Hangouts (MMS does work, only with data connection on)
Keep,
Google Search (but it took away my dark slim theme)
Gmail would not install. Kept saying app not installed.
Still wondering if the Camera and Gallery apps are worth trying. I can't afford to have my camera messed up right now. Taking a ton of Halloween pics.
Play Service, Search and Hangouts working on TW 4.1.2.
The cool part about the camera is it doesn't replace your camera. You can try it and uninstall if it doesn't work.

I would have rushed to install the new Hangouts app if it had supported Google Voice but since it doesn't I'm not in a rush. I'll just wait for the eventual updates through Play. Based on the 'warnings' to app developers who do VOIP etc with Google Voice I suspect that come next Spring we'll finally see Google Voice / Hangouts integration.
The app I really wanted to work was search. The current play store version is garbage. Constantly searching without results. I now use my browser exclusively. The N5 search app force closes when I press any key. Any ideas? I'm on Hyperdrive 16 with faux kernel.

I've had a pretty solid day using Hangouts as my primary sms app. I've been moving too much at work to tell, but do you guys feel like Hangouts isn't vibrating or giving the notification ringtone at all? Again, just curious cuz I've heard rumblings before that Hangouts notifications aren't 100% reliable on AOSP.

I noticed that too. Found it quite curious that HTC didn't include their browser.apk

This was one of the first things I noticed when setting up my home screen. Chrome is good but in the HTC browser I could set it to desktop mode instead of always having to request it in Chrome. I'm sure it's just another quirk that will be taken care of with root.

I'm actually okay with them removing the stock browser since I only use Chrome Beta and Link Bubble, but it was a curious decision by VZW since I know a lot of people like it. What's even more odd is that the AT&T M8 100% has it since i was playing around with one at work yesterday.

I pulled the HTC Browser off my HTC One Max but it is a system app so I can't install like normal nor can I push it to /system/app because /system is RO. Here is the apk anyway. Not much you can do with it though.

If the reason people want the stock browser over Chrome is because of Flash support then this may be a solution:

I think once we get S-Off a lot will be revealed! People are saying these devices do come out of the box with stock internet and stock flashlight app and who knows what else? Thing is, the carriers had these locked down so not visible to the user. Once we are able to modify system files these can then be revealed! I'm hoping that the built in stock text messaging app feature to block people will be restored as well! The international users have all these features out of the box!!!!!!!
What is it? I have a Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Wi-Fi only edition.
What do you want to do with it? I want my wife to be able to text to and receive SMS/MMS messages on the Note.
Where do you need this to happen? Anywhere in the USA, whether over Wi-Fi or 4GLTE through the hotspot.
We have an AT&T Unite Pro hotspot for her to use to connect when not in a Wi-Fi zone. It has its own phone number- not sure if this is needed for this.
I'm wiling to pay a small fee (<$10) for a good app, but if there is a free one that would be even better.
She has a flip phone for calls. I assume it has Bluetooth capability but I am not looking to use the phone at all in this exercise. I want my daughter to be able to send a text/sms/mms to her mother from her iPhone and the Note to receive it whether on home Wi-Fi or hotspot.
Any helpful suggestions would be great. She does not use any Google services so I do not want to rope her into a Google Voice account if I can avoid it. Thanks!
Well Google voice is free. There is no "roping in" you just sign up and pick a phone number.
Look into "whatsapp" to see if fits your needs. It allows messaging to all sorts devices. Its free for a year then .99 after that.
But as far as I know. The only way to send sms messages on a WiFi device is using the Google voice app. You can even make WiFi calls to cell phones with a GV number and an app.

I'm looking for something that is as transparent as possible to both sides, not something that must be downloaded by everyone who wants to communicate.
I use MightyText from the Playstore. 100% free. You install MightyText on your phone, then the tablet companion app on your 12.2. Works perfectly for me on my Nexus 5.

As was stated earlier Google Voice is your best bet. I used it on my Motorola Xoom when my work phone would not allow text. You only have to install it on the tablet. As far as anyone else knows it is just another phone number that they send texts to or receive from. It works great.

I just switched from a Moto X to the LG G3. First, the screen is fabulous. After that I am losing interest quickly (bloatware galore).
I just spent the better part of an hour troubleshooting why I couldn't edit my existing Google contacts on the phone. Turns out you have to enable displaying of the local "Phone"calendar in the Calendar app. My best guess as to why is because for some reason the phone wants to save Birthday events to the phone calendar. There really is no reason for that.
My current issue. For one reason or another I have nicknames in some of my contacts. I use these nicknames (Such as when I tell Google Now to "Call my Wife") it adds the nickname. I am a little OCD about my contacts so it absolutely kills me that it now moved my wife down to the bottom and filed her under Wife. I see the options to Sort and Display by first or last but I am not finding the option to not display nicknames.
Anybody know of a solution? Thanks in advance.
Dennis

Same problem here - It's driven me nuts - I cannot figure out how to get rid of the Nicknames - Interestingly as an android flashing addict - I have not had this problem "EVER" - I want my nicknames - just not on the phone.
Update on this issue?
Does anyone have any updates on this issue? I just switched from a S4 to the G3 and I really dislike this feature. How can I make it so it doesn't display nicknames?

You shouldn't have to delete the contact completely. You can just edit the existing one and clear the nickname.
