Anyone know why the 4g/3g icon stays on the status bar while I'm connected to WiFi? My status bar is getting extremely cluttered... On my Galaxy S4, it went away when I disabled caller ID but it didn't work on this phone.
I believe it is just to show you what network you are on. still uses wifi just shows as like a backup if that makes sense
I think it's a sense thing. All the icons up there are annoying me. At one point I only had 3 notification icons available after blue tooth alarm vibrate battery percent and then there's a couple that pop up and I'm not sure what causes them.

It's not a sense thing. It is part of the Caller ID crap that Verizon puts on your phone. It is using your wifi not cell data. If and when we achieve root and you use titanium backup to uninstall the caller ID, it will disappear. My SGS4 had the same thing on it till I rooted and used titanium backup to uninstall. If you disable the caller ID app it may remove the icon.

It started for me with the 4.4.2 update on the M7. Guess they carried it over.

Hi does my status bar shows the vibration icon all the time , does anybody has this issue? I have the vibration checked in settings-sounds. This never happened to all the other phones I had.

I also found that annoying. I had to set my phone to vibrate only in silent just so the icon would go away lol.

Is there a way to change up the Toggles in the drop down notification area?
I want to put a 'Silent' toggle and lose the airplane mode.
or
Do we have to wait to get root and ROM'd to drop the shaky phone icon.

You want this:
[MOD] 14 toggle quick panel 10/16/2011
It's working on my skyrocket, use the stock odexed rooted roms instructions.
I just installed this on my Skyrocket and its working great. I'm still stock, but rooted.
One thing did happen, but I'm not sure why. I used Root Explorer and followed the instructions, right after I dropped the SystemUI in the destination folder, I started getting Force Close messages about every 5 seconds. I pushed through them through the rest of the process, rebooted and all was good. (So Far)
Just a heads up if somebody else runs into this.
Disclamer Stuff
You need to be Deodexed to use for now unless someone tests on .odex and confirms working.
Always make a nandroid before testing!!
First off this mod is combined with the last toggle version i made for my phone. So at the momment you get both combined.
I can add it to other versions if people are using those just have to pm me.
I removed the Normal Battery % next to the clock
(not really removed but i replaced it with a 1x1 blank pixel)
there are two versions
1) with bar along top of status bar
2) with bar along bottom of status bar

All credit belongs to pvyParts his Tutorial here if you want to add to your own.
He also has a App Version no modding or flashing Required Here App version does run a extra Procsess in background but has added benefit of being onscreen fulltime if you use apps that are always fullscreen.
I have been waiting to unlock and root for the battery bar, now for voiding my warranty

I found out the Charging animations work you just have to click it on and off acouple times to get it to take effect
Confirmed deodexed only. Crashes systemui if odexed.

Where's the fun in that? Anyone can install an app from the market, it's more fun if you can break something in the process.

also when I pull the status bar down there is no notification about it and the icon goes away. I'm on stock 4.1.2
Hmm, looks...unusual.. You first thought was a music app or distorted weather notification. How long has it been there? Maybe try downloading "Air Push Detector" and see if that app catches anything?

I only have stock music player and google play music installed. And I know it's not from my weather app cause I remembering seeing this back when I didn't have this app. It's always been here, it shows up randomly for a short period of time and only on stock. And I usually notice it when starting up an app or I'll see it there after an app has started. Then I pull down the notification bar and it goes away. I got that app and scanned and 1 app came up but I remember seeing this status bar icon at a time I didn't have that app installed.
You actually get that as you would with 3 navigation on Aosp when you get the 3 dot overflow but does it with your notifications when you load something. Nothing to worry about unless it's constant while your actually on the home screen?

I was using BlackBerry 10.2 the other day and noticed a few things I liked and was wondering if there's a way to get them on the Nexus 5:
1. Ability to click on toast notifications (say of a text message) and respond on the spot without leaving the app you're in.. is it possible to do this on the Nexus 5 anyway?
2. Text message previews/calendar events on the lockscreen.. is it possible?
3. Split calendar to show calendar on top, schedule on the bottom (see pic below) - Any app that replicates this or option in Google Calendar?

1. The SMS app Textra let's you reply from anywhere without exiting the app you're in. I'm sure there are plenty of others that do as well, but Textra is what I'm using.
2. Yes. If you drag the lock screen left you'll move to another screen with a '+' sign on it. You can then add widgets there.
3. There's likely a ton of calendar apps for this but Jorte comes to mind as one that has a split view like that.

Thanks! How would you rate Tetra in terms of fluidity and responsiveness? Also, when a message pops up, is there a slight 2 second delay when loading the pop up after the message is received? I tried a similar app in the past and it bugged me that there was a delay when I saw the notification in the notification tray.
Textra has been pretty good so far through a week of use. No major lags, stutters or anything like that. SMS and MMS work fine. I'd say its as good as or better than the old stock messages app.

In gmail it's Settings > your_email_address > Notifications
Look around in System Settings. Sometimes there's an option to override notifications.

You have to manually set notifications for each of your inbox types. This is done through the overflow menu in each special 'inbox' (like Promotions, Updates, Primary). If you just set notifications for Primary inbox, you won't receive notifications when you get mail in any other inbox.
