Dear Fellows,
I am usning the S710 HTC, syncronizing my mail, calender and contancts with to my company Microsoft Exchange Server, the server is enforcing a security which makes the Vox locks if idle for 30 mins.
As a result, when the phone is locked, i can not silence any incoming calls by the volume buttons and i can not disable the GPRS connection to over come this because i have to use Push Mail which needs all day connected GPRS.
Any one can help in bypassing this security policy.
Thanks in advance
Exchange security for OMA
No i believe you cannot overrule these settings because they are pushed from exchange and are not setup on you mobile. You can ask the administrator if he can change these settings (system manager, Global Settings, Mobile Services), but i don't think he wil cooperate with this request because the settings are not user specific but for the whole exchange organization......
Regards!
None of my Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync accounts are syncing automatically anymore on my VZW Galaxy S6. I have them set to receive Push Notifications, no Peak Schedule is set so they should come through as soon as they arrive on the exchange server. The only way to see if I have emails is to open each account's inbox. Very annoying. I'm missing important emails when I'm away from my computer. I have two Exchange accounts through different companies so it's not my company policy or server settings. Everything worked fine before Marshmallow.
I have notifications allowed for the Email app.
All permissions allowed for the email app.
AutoSync is turned on for all accounts.
I've tried with Power Saver on and off seeing as power saver now seems to turn off background syncing when the device is asleep.
Here are my account settings:
-Show Images: yes
-Auto Download attachments: yes
-Download only via WiFi: No
-Sync Schedule: Auto (when received)
-Period to sync: 1 month
-Limit Retrieval Size: No limit
-Limit Retrieval Size when roaming: No Limit
-In case of conflict: Server Has Priority

Have you made any changes to phone like upgrading anything that might effect knox ?
Exchange servers I believe go through knox, so any changes may effect how you are receiving the mail.

No, not that I'm aware of. Just updated to marshmallow and did a factory reset immediately after to have a fresh slate. Emails still sync manually.
I also noticed that now all my emails if/when they sporadically roll in say "Content Hidden" in the notification preview. This was not the case in Lollipop. Maybe the same security setting that blocks notification previews of the text is blocking the syncing?

the problem is with marshmallow and Microsoft exchange.
You may need to up date the exchange to be compatible with marshmallow.
The new marshmallow update has caused Microsoft to break the links from the exchange to the phone. Manual is unaffected because manual sync means basically you are polling the email and asking it to reconnect to the exchange.
Marsh mellow is a new UI and firmware which unfortunately still has bugs to be worked out.
I think it's Power Saver mode. It's now extremely aggressive in Marshmallow. It turns off sync. Period.
Pretty much only SMS and calls get through.
I noticed that if I wrote an email, pressed send, then immediately hit the power button to turn off my screen to pocket my phone while using power saver, it would immediately kill any syncing before the email could be sent. I was wondering why I had 10 unsent emails in my outbox. You must keep the screen on until the email sends or it won't go anywhere. Nor will they show up in your inbox unless you manually check.
Man... regular power saver may as well be Ultra Power Saver now. I used to leave it on 24/7 and get 1.5 days out of my phone with my phone still being fully usable. Now I don't get any more, in fact battery life is definitely worse thanks to the ridiculous auto-brightness control that's way too bright 90% of the time.
Hi,
I'm going to ditch my nexus 6p due to push notification sync issue which occurs with all email apps and all domains @ including outlook, yahoo, inbox ,gmail, bluemail and cloudmagic and I have to manually wake up the phone to force the push notification.
I have read the sync issue is due to marshmallow so I wonder if the Mate 8 suffers from the same issue if I let the phone in standby for longtime 5h++, will the push notification works instantly when receving emails?
The experience may vary from person to person. I get most of my notifications even if my phone is in standby, but some apps just won't give me any notification unless I wake the phone (Youtube for example). I've read people had trouble with Whatsapp but both whatapp and Gmail work fine for me

There are a number of posts in the Mate 8 forum for workarounds to this.
Is there an Android equivalent to the "Emergency Bypass" options in iOS?
I thoroughly dislike iOS, but there is one, really important feature [important to me] that iOS has that is forcing me to stick with my iPhone, over my, otherwise, superior Android phone.
My problem is this:
I have a few contacts that need to be able to get through do no disturb mode when using text/SMS. But the same contacts also use WhatsApp and Telegram for 'casual' messages.
This works great in iOS, as I can enable the "emergency bypass" option under the specific contacts. This means I won't be able to hear their Whatsapp and Telegram messages (we have an agreement about keeping casual/fun/chit chat to those IM apps, whilst keeping the serious and important stuff to SMS (mostly work related)).
I can sleep soundly, and wake up to a bunch of silly memes from my colleagues on WhatsApp and Telegram. But if something more important pops up, they know to send me an SMS, which I will hear as it bypasses the DND mode on my iPhone.
Now, on Android this is a problem, because it seems that Android 10, at least, treats *all* messanging services equally under DND mode. This means, I get woken up at 3am because my co-worker thinks I need to see the latest Trump meme etc. on WhatsApp/Telegram. Big problem. Because if I then mute the messaging services in DND, I also mute SMS, which is bad because I potentially am missing vital messages.
Is there any way to get around this on Android? Does Android 11 allow you to differentiate between SMS and other instant messengers in DND mode? Is there an app that can be used as a work-around?
Merry Christmas, folks.
Is there a way that I can enable notifications from other users when signed in to admin for example?
I have my main stuff in the admin account, and set up an account for work so I can separate WhatsApp, contacts, email etc. However, If I am in the main account (including the lock screen), I will get no notifications from the second user. I will only get notifications if I manually switch users.
I can receive a call from either SIM when in any user, but anything else seems hidden.
Is this really how it is supposed to be?
