Hi,
Has anyone tested booting backtrack 5 or Ubuntu on Microsoft surface pro 2, I did install backtrack and tried all the possible things too boot with usb but no luck. tried volume down button to boot but no luch. Tried advance startup and restarting on that no luck. Appreciate if someone who has tried booting through usb can help me out. Thank you.
Regards,
Rankitt
Did you disable Secure Boot first? It's definitely possible, although the driver support in Linux for the Surface Pro and Pro 2 was still shaky last I checked.
You generally don't really want to run Backtrack on bare metal anyhow. It runs fine in a Hyper-V VM...

I have Windows 7, Windows Vista both 32 bit and Ubuntu 32 bit, When I plug the USB cable into the Tablet and connect it to the Windows PC's I get Unknown device, I never get propted for drivers. I have booted the tablet into ASX and regular mode, I have installed the Tegra 250 dev kit from nvida for the ASX drivers, I also tried the ABD drivers with the Android development kit to try to do ADB, I removed the drivers with USBDVIEW. Whenever I try to update the drivers by pointing them to the Tegra drivers I get a error message that says there are no drivers for your device. Today I tried plugging it into my Ubuntu box and nada it does not even detect it ldusb does not list the device, only my mouse. The tablet is running TNT Light 4.23 with the supplement, ADW launcher, works fine. I wanted to try the new TNT light 5.00. I also want to be able to access the tab by usb, right now I have to use Bluetooth or Dropbox or the SDCARD shuffle to move things. I know it worked when I intalled clockworkmod 0.8 and TNTlight the first time. Can anybody help me get this connected??
I had a problem the first time I tried. Even after installing all the files I read I needed.
I thought now what did I do wrong? I eventually just tried another USB port and let my windows 7 64 bit system find it new hardware and whalaa it worked.
Don't know if that would work for you or not.

New problem
I finally got it to work, turns out the cable was bad! I ran nvflash to restore the gtablet to stock.
The flash completed successfully and Tapntap booted, however all my luanchers and old apps were still there. When I reboot the device goes directly into Apx. Powering with power button no volume, vol- or vol+ gives same result. If I repeat the flash It boots into tapntap bet debits into apx. Do I need to do a factory reset here or somthing else. I am going to try a data wipe and factory reset tonight at the first boot. I want to install TNTllite 5.00 so I can't install clockworkmod. Any Help appreciated.
Hi
I have a Versus touchpad 7 and i cant for the life of me flash a anew rom.
I got 3 of these one works great but the other two are complete rubbish, both have the same build number so thinking its just a poor build.
I have tried Livesuit and pheonixusb pro and both programs stop responding when i keep pressing the power button to start the upgrade.
tested on win 7 32bit and another PC on win 7 64bit.
I have installed the drivers and the adb driver but i just cant get these to run, please can anyone help
So my razr is softbricked. I have been reading the forums here for the last 4 days, probably around 10 hours+ reading for solution. Anyways, my phone refuses to turn on and it pulls up the "downgraded security version" on the fastboot screen. Now, adb recognizes my phone in fastboot mode, and I tried flashing back the stock firmware (I had it updated to 9.30 locked bootloader) to no luck. I read that RSDlite is the way to go, but it refuses to recognize my phone. I have updated the drivers close to 9 times already, and I honestly doubt that's the issue, as adb can recognize my phone just fine. Under configuration/Flash Modes there's an option for fastboot, which is greyed out and unclick-able. Is there something I could do to get it to recognize my phone? I'm not ready to give up on it just yet.
I figured the reason RSDlite wasn't working. For those who are experiencing similar issues with RSDlite not recognizing your device, I can confirm that it does not work with windows 8.1. You will have to run it in windows 7, or else it will not recognize your device.
When you say windows 7, do you mean a true physical win 7 machine, or windows 8.1 with rsdlite being executed in win 7 compatibility mode? I can't get rsdlite to work on my laptop as well and have no other machine..
Sent from my RAZR HD using Tapatalk
I have another old desktop running windows 7. I tried it there and it was able to recognize my razr in fastboot. My laptop runs windows 8.1, and no matter what I did, rsdlite didn't recognize my razr. I think rsdlite just doesn't support 8.1 yet.
Thanks for the clarification, although it was not the answer I was hoping to hear
I honestly would switch my laptop to windows 7, if i didn't have to pay the 100$ for the OS. I still can't seem to adapt to windows 8. I don't like the answer any more than you do, I messed around with the settings enough to give up. Hopefully they might make a patch in the near future to allow it to work on windows 8.1.
Needs to be USB2.0 and you need to use the original moto cable.....generally it does matter
I used a USB 2.0 port on my laptop and desktop, same sync cable on both. If the cable was the only thing stopping it in windows 8.1, then I'm sure it would had been the same in windows 7. However, I was fully able to use RSDlite on my windows 7 desktop without any issues.

unfortunately I don't even have a USB2.0 port anymore on my ultrabook.. ah well, who needs RSDLite anyway, but still weird that it doesn't work.
Virtualize a W7 Os
Yeah, my RSD Lite doesn't recgonizde mi device, just in w7. You guys could install a virtual machine program like VM Ware or Virtual Box and Install the drivers, RSD Lite and the desired Firmware.
HI guys. I recently needed to reformat my 2HIX WINTAB, I installed a brand new windows 10, and without any kind of support on the controllers from the vendor, i managed to get everthing installed, even the touchscreen... The problem here is that i´ve installed various drivers with the same Hardware ID and each one of them gives me diferent calibration problems and i can't manage to get the correct one.
Is ther anyone with a solution for the touch, or even better, a stock ISO with windows 10? All the help you can give me is welcome :good:
Same here. Used the windows install pendrive to install windows fresh and cleared up. Installed Windows and did not install any device.
No driver support anywhere.
Been playing it for a 1/4 of a day.
It seems we can use drivers from other makers.
I had a toshiba wt7-c and it kinda uses same hardware.
So what we need is the intel platform installer for windows 8.1 and it should install drivers for almost everything and show the hidden devices. Strangely windows 10 didnt download any drivers as far i could see through windows update.
I have the same problem... any solution so far? thanks in advance
Hello Sir,
Yesterday I had the same problem, no touch screen and no sound after clean install of windows 10 in that tablet, 2hix... did you managed a solution? Will you please share? Thanks!
Also, do you still have android running? i lost mine.
(2hix tablet was dual boot from factory with win10/android 4)
Thanks again,
Pluda

So, my phone's bricked - it won't boot, just brings up fastboot. As the solution to this problem appears to be to use the MSM tool to do an "actual" factory reset, I downloaded the MSM tool, and the decrypted ROM from this link: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=8889791610682918291.
First I tried this on a Windows 7 VirtualBox VM (I use Ubuntu on my actual computer). The drivers didn't even install right it seems, and the device (in EDL mode) wasn't even recognized. Then I tried it on my mom's Windows 10 laptop. MSM never showed the device as connected. I think possibly the lack of a USB 2 port could be the cause.
Finally I set up a basic VM with Windows 10 and a USB 2 controller, and it worked-ish. MSM recognized the device, showed it as connected and started doing its thing, but stopped at "Sahara Communication failed". What is preventing it from getting past this? I'm using the cable provided in the box. Everything is recognized correctly. I've retried multiple times but still the same result.
SUCCESS!
I had a spare laptop lying around, and it has USB 2 ports. I loaded WIndows 10 onto it and tried the MSM from there -- AND IT WORKED!
As much as I hate Qualcomm for their monopolistic business practices, I thank them for EDL mode. I also thank OnePlus for somehow failing to prevent the MSM tool from entering the hands of the public every time, and @Some_Random_Username for trafficking this good. Yeet!

The USB controller is part of VirtualBox. I think you need to download and install the extensions pack for the USB 2.0 version. The problem is that the controller is not capable of the absolute direct communication that the software needs to work, or it just doesn't connect fast enough. This would be a great example of why Windows on a USB would be great, since you could just boot it. But then MS wouldn't be able to make its billions. So we lose.
I'd try VMWare and KVM to see if they do any better. I'm not sure if WINE supports USB passthrough or not. Otherwise try to find a Windows box you can use.

I might just do that. I only wanted msm as a back up option. I am pretty sure I can fastboot flash back to stock atm anyway and I am not bricked, yet..
