Hi
I have a silly question.
I use before the GNex. (rooted with custom roms and kernels)
On rare times there were issue's after flash. With the GNex I pulled the battery and boot into recovery to fix.
The nexus 5 haven't this option. Is there a hard reset button or a trick to make it power off? ( for example with bootloops or if it hang)
Thanks for the answers
Andi
Long pressing power button
Thanks...
Is this a hardware related Funktion? I mean cut the long pressing the power without software functions?

Yes, long holding power bypasses software to achieve the same result as a battery pull

No, not as far as i know.
Reported the thread to be moved, pls follow the rules and open such threads at Q&A and not at development.
Read this if you don't know what should be at development and what not.
Edit: @draghiciandrei Better?
Nobody is perfect
I quoted it, because i also answered the question he wrote.
Why did you quote the OP?
Was that really necessary?
In my opinion you have to be a perfect poster before you can start giving advice.

Was that sarcasm? There are rules for a reason and they should be followed. Tectas hasn't done anything wrong if he has quoted the OP.
Yes, that was sarcasm.
His post was correct as the topic s location.

Look, this is a question fitting this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1561533
Is anybody working on it, isn't really a question about development process or product he's working on (or he missed to say it, then I sure will apologize), no matter how nice the feature is he is asking for, that's a feature request for the ROM he is using (and only for that one) or a question for Q&A for my opinion.

You're right!
I have to apologize.
It wasn't really a question about development process I'm working on.
Cause I'm not a Kernel developer. I'm just a dumb user.
So please Mod - delete this - close this - or what ever is necessary.
Maybe one of you guys could post this at the right place or give a developer a hint about that nice feature.
Sorry for the inconvenience. Next time I boot up my brain before I start posting or open a new Thread.
Not the right place, but an interesting question indeed. Lowveld is the kernel master over here maybe someone should PM him, since this is open source he could eventually add this really nice feature to his kernels. The other option is the Virtuous team but IMO they are not very responsive...
Thank for sharing anyway!
Already made a repost of the op at reaper^^

I just ported it to the Evo3D GSM and after I got the Desire HD implementation done, I will come around to the Desire S and see what I can do. Expect it soon. (measured in valve time)
Thank you!
That's much more than I expected.

WOW, i saw something very similar for the Evo 3D months ago, made by bponury. I made a request thread too, but since the dev didn't release the kernel source, it wasn't ported here. I really hope you get it working soon
UP!
My power button stop working...

For me Sweep2Wake works great on CM9 from 20120602.
Really nice feature!

IMO
Used it on both aokp and CM9
Lovely killer feature but
Eats too much battery and if suspected of causing device lockups
Swyped from my DesireS
Please can you confirm, if Sweep2Wake works only CM9 kernel or another too.
And which ?
Thanks.
Yes it does, the latest version was released with and without it, check out the CM9 thread
Swyped from my DesireS
Thanks, but where is this CM9 thread.
There are a lot.

Hey all,
Back in my SGS2 days the forums here contained a pretty definitive list of preinstalled apps which were OK to freeze/uninstall. Has any such list been compiled for the One S?
Ps. I don't have a T-Mobile phone, it's the standard European SIM free version.
Thanks
Russ

Look at the Rom Cleaner Thread. The List they use for the script should include the information you are looking for...

Hello, I have a HTC Touch HD (Blackstone), which originally came with Windows Mobile 6.1. Here on XDA, it was upgraded to WinMo 6.5. Now there is a Android ROM on Internal Memory (NAND), thanks to my big friend fagyi.
On that ROM, only wi-fi, 2G and 3G don't work, because he had to make a new kernel only for NAND (before he made kernels for the SD card, and people ran Android by running an executable called "HAReT", which many of you may know from other WM devices, like the HD2, which is the subjected phone sucessor)
The kernels for the SD card are working perfectly, with all functions of the phone enabled. What I'm looking is for someone ready for a challenge:
Either fixing his NAND kernel or porting the SD kernel to NAND. I think porting the SD kernel would be better, but if fixing the NAND one is easier, then it's okay.
If anyone could help, I would be very pleased, because fagyi is alone on this fight and has a lot of troubles porting from SD to NAND...
If you want to help, I will give you the links to kernels and let you talk with fagyi.
Thanks for reading and possibly helping,
mfsr98

Look dude, I asked for help, not for a comment like yours. Why would android not run ok? The phone has better specs than the G1 (first android phone)
Well, now it's on the news! We just need help so if anyone could help I would apreciate...
Hi guys,
I'm new to Android, in fact I just got my Nexus 5 today. I would like to change the colour of my network and battery icons from the default white to the same colour as the ones on the LG G2. See attached image.
Is this possible, and if so how do I go about it?
Thanks in advance.
Regards.
Edit: I don't have enough posts to post a link to the colour of the LG G2 battery and network icons
Root + xposed framework + gravitybox mms xposed module.
You can find all these on xda using Google search.
Gravity box allows you to set the colour to whatever you want from a pallet

Haha. I really like those colours, what can I say lol. I'm a little apprehensive about rooting my device though. As I understand it, if I root I'll no longer get the OTA updates. And one of the selling points of the Nexus 5 for me was the fact that it gets all Android updates straight away.
There's an ota helpdesk thread in general.
Quick ota updates also means quick updates to full roms...

You're not going to be able to do what you want without changing the system and giving up easy ota updates. But they're easy to apply through a custom recovery.
OK, so it looks like I'll be rooting :fingers-crossed: Is the cfroot the best way to go? Or I've seen another thread all about rooting the Nexus 5, which seems to assume you're using Windows. I'm running Linux Mint.

Personally, I would do it by myself using adb and fastboot instead of letting something else do it for me. But I guess cf auto root works as well.
Thanks for the help and advice guys. I've decided not to bother rooting, it's just not worth it just so I can change the colours on 2 icons. Thanks again.

Indeed, but recently coming from iOS I'm very happy with kitkat I just wanted to change the colour of those 2 icons. For me to do that I'd have to root. And if I root I lose my OTA and then have the hassle of having to flash the updates myself.
Actually, you don't. Unless you make changes to system files. Stock rooted would have no issues with otas..

Would need to keep stock recovery though.

Did you unlock your bootloader yet? Do that at least. It won't affect your device's OTA update or anything and locking it is extremely easy.
---DO IT IN CASE YOU DECIDE TO ROOT LATER---
it'll pay off trust me.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I've done a bit of reading and from what I gather even if I root, unlock the bootloader and install a custom recovery, I can still install all the very latest Android updates simply by boot to custom recovery and flashing the update. Is this correct?
What are some of the benefits of rooting? And would a custom ROM be better than the stock vanilla on the Nexus 5?
Sorry for all the questions. I'm just trying to get things clear in my mind.
Thanks again.
Also - Is there a way of rooting without wiping all my info on my device?
No you cannot root without unlocking the bootloader which wipes device.
Benefits of root are in the faq stickied at the top of this forum

OK thanks.
Is it just me, or are there a lot of custom roms missing?
I would like to know why?
I'm not new to flashing but i've never seen so less roms for an actual Device from Sony. So I guess there must be at least one or more reasons. And if someone is so kind and answers my question, could u also tell me if this is going to change?
Thx in advance!
