So, I am interested in making a soundboard for the movie super troopers... Just curious if anyone has any experience making soundboards? Or, would I be better off pulliing a soundboard apk from my phone and just swap out the sounds I want? If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it, thanks!
I don't have any soundboard experience...
But just taking an apk and replacing sounds is definitely not something someone should suggest.. Pulling OS information and cooking roms is a little different than taking an app and releasing a dev's work with different .wmv's, that's a little thing called plagiarism..
But if you ask the dev prior to that, I guess it would be ok.. You just need his source..
*edit
look what google found me...

Not advanced at all. There's a reason there are so many soundboard apps on the market. It's just about the easiest, most no-brainer app you can write that actually does anything. Even if you've never even written a basic "Hello World" app, it shouldn't take more than 2 or 3 hours running through the tutorials on the android sdk site to be able to whip up a soundboard.

Hmmm. Maybe THAT'S the problem....all those soundboard makers heard that they were no-brainers to make, and decided not to turn on their noodles before creating and releasing their monstrosities upon the world. (not meant as a dig @ OP)

Well its usually for people that want experience in coding apps, and haven't been through A+ Cert or the like, and want to learn...

Oh, I don't think he meant anything derogatory by it. I've been writing code for 20+ years, but I'm still doing a couple crazy simple Android apps just to get myself familiar with the new platform.
There's nothing wrong with writing simple apps as a learning experience. Even experienced coders have to do it from time to time when learning a new language or new platform.
The only part that's a little ridiculous is posting these "Java 101 homework assignments" on the market. Does the world *really* need 5 dozen collections of SpongeBob sound clips?
(No offense intended to anybody, but people should maintain a sense of reality about how appealing their app really is to the general public... I think it's awesome when people post things like this with source code and complete Eclipse project files so that other people can use them as a learning tool, I just question whether simple stuff like this really belongs on the market as a "product". It tends to clutter up my search results when I'm looking for useful stuff....)

What he said! Wasn't making fun of anyone wanting to learn or anything like that a all. Hell, I'm working my way through the "how to make a calculator" guide, myself, lol! I know jack about coding! I was more referring to the fact that some of these guys don't seem to ask themselves weather or not the world really needs "Rosie O'donnel: Bathroom Sounds v.17" before they slap it in the market. I tried to be clear that I wasn't picking on the OP, guess I could have been more explicit? Sorry if there was confusion.
I havent taken any offense here... some soundboards are retarded, and I will be the first to agree... I am just shocked that, with the amount of 1 liners in the movie super troopers, there arent any soundboards for it... (of course, I may be biased, as some people may think this movie was stupid, but I loved it lol)... I have no programming experience, only video/audio editing experience... I found the link "azyouthinkeyeiz" maybe 20 minutes before he replied to this thread, and am trying that tutorial... I am definently looking forward to learning more, and if anyone out there has any websites they can suggest for learning programming, I am more than down to learn!

This is a promo app that plays Devine's 1st single, "We Fail" , off their first album titled "14 Steps to Stone"
: : : DEVINE : : :
Devine is an American heavy metal / Hard Rock Band blending elements of Rock, Hard Core, Metal, and Hip-Hop. However, this band is unique for more than just their sound but also in their peculiar arrangement. The band not only remains spread out over the United States but for nearly a year, and after a completed recording no one in the band had ever been in the same room!
for more to the story go to www.devineband.com

This is an awesome band I have been doing a lot of work with
This app was created in App Inventor because I have no idea what im doing but it does the job of letting people hear them and getting the word out lol
If anyone has a marketplace account and is willing to post this on the market for free then let me know!
Why would you bother to come on the Internet to post if your gonna hate?... {Edit: good to see the hateful post's deleted}
The basic principle of it is pretty great actually; I'd love to have a couple of my songs (per say) featured in a app that can be deleted, instead of having people download my song's & then have it get lost in their folders. They can delete it if they hate it with ease, or have a link in the app to your iTunes/Music page if they like it.
Everyone...
Just because a project here doesn't include you in the scope of people that it might be relevant to, that's no reason to come bashing those who created it or who are interested in it. If it's not for you, just move along....

Can I just say that if you don't want feedback or opinions, constructive or otherwise, then a forum really isn't the place to be announcing your app.
I thought this forum was a place devs/users could gain feedback and discuss apps, if you aren't prepared to take the good with the bad then why post?

Because this is for people to offer constructive criticisms about the app, not needlessly hateful comments. Saying "this app sucks because i don't like the music" is not helpful in the slightest. We are supposed to be rating the app, not necessarily the music.
By the way, this is a brilliant idea for an app. I think NYGraFFit1 put it best

I just saw this site listed in an article on AndroidSPIN. Here's the link to the article:
A New Solution for Finding Tablet Optimized Applications
The part of the article that piqued my interest the most was this:
It’s not an alternative market but rather, it displays apps that have been SPECIFICALLY designed for tablets then links them back to the Android Market. Many devs claim their apps are optimized for tablets but in truth, they simply mean the app now stretches to fill the screen on a tablet-that’s far from being optimized. None of this “optimized” nonsense here. Each app is tested to make sure that it is actually designed for tablets; meaning the UI has been enhanced in some way to take advantage of the large display. It’s definitely worth a look. Thanks!
The site it refers to is: Tablified Apps
It's worth a look.
hey bro i saw the site, it looks good , i was looking for something like this, thanks for the heads up

This site just made me sad. It is a great idea and I appreciate the work put in, but it only serves to highlight the utter lack of tablet optimized apps currently available for Android.
Great site. Thanks for this (Thanks button used with pleasure). I've only had a quick scroll and already found two apps that I hadn't heard of that look really good.
It's great to see people furthering the cause of Android tablet optimised apps. The more exposure there is, the more developers are going to be encouraged to develop for tablets.

It all depends which country you live in. I think it's only in the USA you get the tablets section (possibly Canada too).
Edit: well I hate to be a killjoy but the first app I saw on that site is the game 'Stupid Zombies', which isn't a tablet optimised or made for tablet app at all and certainly isnt a 'true' tablet app. So not sure how that site is sorting apps just for tablets, and perhaps others on there are the same, but I didnt look further. Maybe that's a one off.

If you found a missing app, there s a "submit an app" section on the main page. This site should fulfil itself if people just take 1 minutes to share their discovery.
Now what really is missing is : ..... A TABLET App ! trololololol.

let me explain how it works for games because there isnt a clear cut line. a games doesnt need to be 3.0 specific for it to work on tablets. people complain about not having a tablet games section then complain when i put a game up. this is how i determine if the game is a tablet game or not. i actually look at the Apple app store version. Stupid Zombies is a tablet game. how do i know? because the same version of that game is offerred on the iPad and on the iPhone. I know this because you see that theres is only one version of the game in the app store and there is a little "plus" sign on the corner of the app icon. this game was designed for tablets and phones. same thing applies for the Android market. Im not sure if you even bothered playing the version of stupid zombies on the ipad and iphone/ipod...but i have. theres no difference between the two. i spend a lot of time testing these apps and games. if one app didnt make you want to look any further, well, i guess its your loss then. i hope people understand that its not always clear cut. thats why theres a voting section. if you think the game/app shouldnt be on the list then please send me a quick msg. it takes two seconds. theres a button right under the app that says "send enquiry". notify me and ill let the people decide if it should be on the list or not. perhaps i should add stupid zombies to the app voting section.
as for the people who have apparently gone through the entire site in a day, im sorry i cant fill the apps fast enough...im the only person doing this right now. hopefully help comes soon. if you find an app then take a second and submit the app. thanks!

I agree with this methodology 100%. Keep in mind this site is brand new and is still growing. That coupled with the sad fact as many of you have pointed out that there are just not that many Tablet designed apps just yet. Give the site a chance folks contribute to the list... we will all benefit from it in my opinion... not that it should mean much since I just joined.... but still!
as far as stupid zombies I play that game on my transformer daily (its addicting) based on the above criteria it fits as a tablet app imho
Thanks and I am glad to be a part of this community and looking forward to getting flamed/ accepted here.

You totally misunderstood what I was saying and the tone. I wasn't slating your site by only saying id looked at one. I was saying id looked at one and not had time to look at more, and was unsure if all the apps were not 'true' apps or not, so i didnt want to judge just from looking at one, just report back immediate findings. I can see why you thought that though. I applaud your efforts.
Anyway I disagree with your thoughts on 'if an app is works fine on an ipad it must be ok in honeycomb, or for an android tablet', but hey if all humans agreed with each other the world would be a boring place. In the case of stupid zombies yes it works fine in honeycomb but its still not a 'true' tablet app and the developer doesnt claim it to be.
I think we can all agree there arent that many honeycomb specific or optimised apps anyway. Get developing people!

Please define what a game should have to make it eligible to be called aa tablet game. What should stupid zombies have added to make it a honeycomb/tablet app? Just so I have a reference. Thanks.

really? so...
IMDB, Movies and about a dozen other apps dont have any mention of being a tablet app in the market, does that make them not a tablet app? Sure they aren't games but still, by that definition it would weed out a lot more than just games. honestly, if i waited around for all developers to post that their apps are for honeycomb/tablets then i would have nothing on the site.
anyway, until someone give me a better solution for posting up games, im going to do what i think feels right. comparing them to their iPad counterparts is CURRENTLY the best solution there is. i check for graphics, gameplay, controls, etc. if its identical, like how stupid zombies is, then its a tablet game.
games like burn the rope will not be on the list because the controls differ from the ipad. the ipad has on screen controls to move the rope instead of having to wave around your tablet, looking like a fool. so thats an example of where the game looks good on phones and tablets but still NOT for tablets.
i hope this clears some stuff up. if anyone has some suggestions on how we can distinguish tablet games then please let me know. thanks!
Not sure if this has been posted already but someone has developed a version of Siri for android! its called Iris
Still an Alpha version so by no means perfect but it does look to have great potential.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.dexetra.iris&rdid=com.dexetra.iris&rdot=1&pli=1
I am downloading it now.
This is why android is better than iOS...we can have all of their features but they can't have all of ours.
Speaktoit Virtual assistant has been around a bit longer and seems to work a bit better IMO.
isis definitely has a polished look to it, but it's not that smart, YET.
Out of 5 questions, it only got 1 right, "Who is Lady Gaga?" HA!
"When did Hawaii become a part of the United States?" "Just now." :/
"What is 37 * 5?" "A number." :X
I'll keep it on my phone to see how it progresses, but I won't be using it much right now.

"When we the Galaxy Nexus be released?" "When the fat lady sings!"
The other was asking for the address of someone in my Contacts. But no matter how I enunciated it kept changing his last name to "Agassi tech".
Also, how is "just now" an acceptable answer for "When did Hawaii become a part of the United States?"
Oh and as much as I hate to promote it, Siri can do math, so while it is correct, "a number" isn't really a sufficient answer.
None of them even come close to Siri unfortunately....need ore time for some of these newer apps to be developed further.

Iris has some potential to it, I asked it some questions and it seems like it has some "intelligence" in it. It knows basic things like its name and who made it, but difficult questions don't really get answers that are precise.
ex. Do you have fun? "Yes..Although..It's quiet"
I am on fire. "You will need to contact..."
What am I? "A robot"
Another? "Another WHAT?"
With more effort this can become really good, my questions sometimes got odd answers and others were sarcastic in tone.
set iris as default?
Anyone know how to set IRIS as default voice search?

I also asked "When did Hawaii become a state" and it told me August 21st 1959.
Then I asked "What is 37 multiplied by 5" and it told me 185.
I guess it's just in how you ask!

I've been playing with this one lately, it's pretty good. Seems alot better than Iris IMO, can ask things in a variety of ways and it knows.

Sorry, even for an Alpha, this is FAR away from being even close to what Siri is.
Unless the anwsers are (virtually) instant, its hardly worth being called "Android's own Siri".

Even i love Android, no, its not ... iOS is next to perfect OS for the hardware its running on and will be always better then any other mobile system as long as it runs on Apple's hardware since its closed platform developed for iPhone and iPad only, unlike Android. Just saying.
i will try it
Iris is rather funny, i enjoy it
looking forward for the further development..
LMAO...
I asked "What time is it?"
Response - "Time to go number two."

It looks like it might be this App Ops
Or something very similar.

First off: Thanks for your reply!
Though I think you might been misled: Yes, this is App Ops, but I meant the program at the top of the list WITHIN App Ops (the one with the android-bot-icon)
Thank you anyways though!
The screenshot at the top? Where all those "Allowed" settings are?
My first thought when I saw that was that it looked like a Superuser settings menu.
Couldn't tell you which one if it is though.
No problem on trying to help.
I know from experience it's damn near impossible to get help on this board sometimes.
In one of my other posts on why that is someone replied with the implication that most of really knowledgeable people here
are apparently prejudiced against new users to Android.
I guess people like me (Windows users for 20+ yrs) are invading their clubhouse and they don't like it.

Yeah, really seems that way, really hard to a response here... anyway, that app seemingly doesn't even have name (compare facebook messenger and the one above it) and thanks for your reply - have a great day
Ok. I think I know what you're talking about now.
You mean the app with the Android robot with the white box on him.
It looks like some sort or task starter like tasker.
I found this.
Try that for a starting point for finding out what it is. The robot is identical except for the X over it.
