They are already prerooted. So no need for a one click root.
I brought a galaxy nexus off internet from Hong Kong a few months back now. All is working good and pleased with phone. I haven't got software update yet and currently running 4.1.1
Does anybody know why ? And how can I get the android update please.
Thanks.

Well, in this particular case, Google is your friend.

Thanks. I've tried this but still no joy. Maybe I should just sit tight and wait it out.

Ever think about rooting? Update whenever you want to
You can do like me when I first root my gnex download nexus root toolkit unlock boot loader and download factory image from Google "just google nexus factory image" download the one you want. Flash it using factory reset tool from tool kit and root if you want you can even relock bootloader

Thanks for the tips. Will try rooting option.

ppl always confuse updating the software with rooting. You DO NOT need to root your device to update it. Not at all! I also always advise not to except you really need to usr some specific app. To update your GN you just need unlocked bootloader and fastboot.exe.
I cannot post links yet but just google for android factory images and go the the google site and get the one for yakju or takju/for google wallet/.

Finally got CM11 installed the M1 Snapshot that is. I have not tried the nightly yet but in the M1 Sprint seems to be fine but when you go to the carrier menu Update Profile and Update PRL do not work. I even installed the SprintHiddenMenu.apk and no luck. Any suggestions?

Always been broken on every CM based rom on every sprint device. You have to go to stock rom and update PRL there then flash the CM rom.
It works just fine on the galaxy nexus

True but that was because there were device specific Roms but with the Nexus 5 the same ROM works for all I'd assumed they'd fix it.

It's the first nightly, they may fix this in future. For now, use nandroid or stick to ROMs that have it working. Cataclysm works.

I'm wanting to root my Nexus 5... But if I root, can I update... Or do I need to be unrooted?... I've only rooted one device before... I'm fine with the root method for the Nexus 5, but a little unsure of the unroot method... Can I update my Nexus 5 while it's rooted?...

By updating you mean OTA, right?
There is thread going on for this:

Didn't really need to link to it. It's a sticky thread stuck at the top of this general forum along with all the other important threads

I'd do some research on what the next update could do to root b4 you update. Google are not trying to make root impossible but they want android far more secure. Chainfire wrote on this, and it's implications, which are not minor

If you just have root and you did not modify any files in /system then you will be able to update with root, but you will lose root if you do so.
I want to upgrade my wife's phone to marshmallow. Her 915F is official but rooted with TWRP.
I want to be sure that I will be able to roll back in case won't like it.
Is it possible?
Besides security updates, is there a good reason to update it ?
