Hey guys,
I've got a problem with my HTC One S...
I want to run a RUU to go back to my stock rom, but the problem is that, when I go to HBoot and then Fastboot, my PC doesn't recognize the device, only after 2 minutes it says that the last USB device can't be recognized... I did an uninstall en reinstall of the HTC Drivers/ HTC Sync, but with no succes... I'm running windows 8.1 btw.
Thanks for the help!
Hi !
On W8.1 there is a lot of problem for fastboot, it's normal. Try on another PC.

I was guessing that was the problem... But still got a windows 7 pc here, I'll try on that one!
Hopefully they will make an update for all the windows 8.1 users.

currently I am on linux so i hope you guys can suggest something relevant
thanks a lot
So the point is, that you can't get it to work on a windows 8.1. You will have to use another pc or try a different os. Maybe an emulator works to,but i'm not sure about that...
For your RUU you'll have to search one for your CID, which is in your case Vodaphone. So maybe try, googling your cid for finding the right one for you
Another option is to get S-OFF, the, you can run any RUU you want!
Hope this helped you out.

Did you already try to get S-OFF with the All-In-One Toolkit V4.0? It worked for me... On Windows 8 ofcourse not 8.1. Since you're on linux you could try to search for an emulator and run it from there, on a windows 7/8 emulation...
No Idea of this works, but you could try it!
no not yet. may be when i go back home i will try on my desktop pc. i downloaded windows xp and virtualbox. i hope i will be able to do all this on virtual machine.

Hi, I was trying to unroot my desire S, I have been following the desire fanatics guide on youtube (Can't post the link - sorry)
And I got up to the point where I was running the RUU utility. It started and then It got to about 50% in and then said Error, please use the correct RUU utility. (I'm guessing I've downloaded the incorrect RUU file.
So now, when I turn the phone on it goes right into the white menu with all the stuff on HBOOT etc.. fastboot I think it is, and it says security warning.
I'm guessing Its wiped the data but no longer has an OS to boot into. I honestly don't think it is bricked but I have no clue what to do from now!
I got my phone from mobiles.co.uk (A carphone warehouse subsidiary) and it is on contract with T-mobile. The phone had no branding on it from T-mobile so I guess its unlocked.
However I downloaded the T-mobile UK RUU and ran that..
Any advice on what to do from here? I'm currently in the process of downloading The Saga_HTC _Europe_1.28.401.1_Radio20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.11_M_release_177977_signed.exe
I don't even know if this will work because I can't get into any OS. I also read a lifehacker article and it said I can put a file onto the SD card and it will automatically run fixing the phone, making it better.
Please help me!
So far, I've tryed:
RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.1_Radio_20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.11_M_release_177977_signed
and
RUU_Saga_TMO_UK_1.30.110.2_R_Radio_20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.11_M_release_180106_signed
But neither of these have worked, it gives me an error 140 saying I'm using the wrong version!
Can anybody tell me the correct version for an unlocked desire S bought in the UK from mobiles.co.uk?
Something that may of made this slightly more difficult for myself Is that While following the guide I followed, I used android flasher and flashed the bootloader included in the Revert to stock bundle kit thing, It was called engHBOOToverARX
I honestly have no Idea how I can fix this but Hopefully somebody else can!
can you tell me your current hboot version?
is your device detected by ADB?
if you have not set up ADB before read this below link
His device won't be detected by adb, only fastboot.
Run fastboot command "fastboot getvar all" and post the response.
Ok, this is what I get after fastboot getvar all:
Code:
(bootloader) version: 0.5
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 0.98.0000
(bootloader) version-baseband: 38.03.02.11_M

And I have the ability to run adb commands but I don't know what command to use to check if its detecting my device, I type adb into cmd and loads of commands come up..
@imattacus
Okay you have a UK unbranded phone, I say this cause your CID is HTC__001 and your main version is 1.47.401.4.
So to fix you can either;
1) You can download this RUU (v1.47.401.4, hboot 0.98.0002) and run it from the PC.
Or
2) Change your main version (by getting shell root) then trying again with the 1.28.401.1 RUU. (but may be impossible since you can't get adb)
Option 1 is the easiest.
Same issue with Virgin Mobile RUU
Anyone got the correct RUU for me as I've got the same issue with a Virgin Mobile RUU. I followed the instructions for unrooting here. I was using the Virgin Mobile RUU listed on the link provided which was this list but I keep on getting error 140 when I run the RUU, telling me to use the correct one.
My bootloader is as follows:
SAGA PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-0.98.0000
RADIO-38.03.02.15_M
eMMC-boot
I just need to find the right RUU version.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and as soon as possible.
Thanks
Just use Goldcard and try 1.47.401.4 again.
I also have a few problems with my Desire-S:
-my android email app keeps crashing when i try to open any email;
-official update aborts instalation (system 7) (even after hard reset).
So i decided to try fixing this via RUU. My phone is unbranded (bought in Slovenia's Vodafone), unrooted:
-android 2.3.3
-Sense 2.1
-Build 1.47.401.4
-Boot says: Saga PVT Ship S-on RL, Hbroot 0.98.0002, radio 3805.06.02.03_M
I tried to install:
-RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.9_Radio_20.4801.30. 0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_234765_signed.exe
Every time i get an error 131- customer id error and message, that the ruu is wrong...
So i tried with the older one:
-RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.47.401.4_Radio_20.28I.30.085 AU_3805.06.02.03_M_release_199410_signed.exe
And i keep getting error 140.
And i'm stuck here. Any help? I'd like to put on 2.3.5 with sense 3 without that email bug.... and i'm considering taking it to the repair service...
Thank You
i had in a way similar problem with imattacus...
only i can't run adb commands (adb devices returns no value)
i tried folowing ruu-s:

RUU's installed, but after boot phone was stuck in white screen with green htc.
after i installed this RUU my phone booted:
RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.47.401.4_Radio_20.28I.30.085AU_3805.06.02.03_M_release_199410_signed
update>>
I checked for updates and there were some... After installing phone stuck on white screen...
I just whish to restore my phone to it's factory outofthebox state..
My getvar all result is::

Goldcard
Sent from my HTC Desire S
I have installed ruu with the gold card, but I did removed it before update... Will try again and post back. Thank you very much for quick response!
>>>>>update...
Unfortunately, with gold card everything went same as before...
When i download and run update, phone reboots into update screen with progress bar, then reboots to update screen with same bar, then reboots to update screen without progress bar, then reboots and stays stuck on white screen...
i guess i have to find a way to unroot and s-on my device to the stock values before i try to update again...
my fastboot screen reads:
SAGA PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-6.98.1002
RADIO-3822.10.08.04_M
eMMC-boot
Mar 10 2011, 14:58:38
One more curious thing..
When i install RUU ver 1.47.401.4 (only i'm able to boot so far) image version that i overwrite (visible from RUU install screen) is 13.10.401.8... A bit large number, isn't it?
>>> FINAL UPDATE
SUCCESS!!!
as i suspected earlier, when i folowed first post on this topic i locked the phone, and then update worked.
have a nice day, everyone!
Hey Guys,
I am following this [How to Downgrade Latest Hboot 2.00.0002>> without using HTC Dev V2] guide to downgrade the HBOOT from 2.00.0002.
I am not sure which RUU to use to downgrade. My mobile was bought in Sweden. but the mother board was changed in India. I want to know, how do i find out the REGION/BAND of the software existing on my phone. The version numbers on my phone are:
kernel version
2.6.35.10-ga76c374
software number
2.15.720.3
Android Version
2.3.5
HTC Sense Version
3.0
baseband version
20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M
Also, I tried to flash RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.1_Radio_20.28b.30.080 5U_38.03.02.11_M_release_177977_signed. But it gives me ERROR[171]: USB CONNECTION ERROR.
I am using Win7 have have the latest HTC drives installed.[I did not install HTC Sense though].
Am I doing something wrong?? Is the RUU right??
/Regards,
Amit
Basically,
You need to run the command after restarting your phone into the fastboot menu.
fastboot getvar all
This will give you cidnum (as well as other info) which will give you the version on your phone. You can even paste it here for others to check (just remove IMEI and serialno).
Also,
The windows 7 problem is a relatively common error. I also had the same issue. Using a different computer solved my issue.
You can try removing the htc sync and htc drivers using revo uninstaller or simply uninstall and run ccleaner to remove some dead entries, then reinstall. I am not sure whether having an updated windows 7 is part of the solution. Some people have reported this to solve the issue. Others have got this working with windows xp.
Thanks for the reply,
I rebooted the phone to fastboot and tried
fastboot getvar all
but the command is <waiting for device>
I can see "fastboot usb" on the phone. What am i missing? USB debugging in on! and fastboot is switched off.
/Amit
Thought HTC Sync had to be installed? Isn't it needed?!
I do not know the errors anymore i got, but installing Sync solved some of them! Give it a try
HTC Sync installs usb drivers needed for your device.
But still before doing that try running >> adb devices << when phone is switched on, or >> fastboot devices << when in fastboot. If your device is listed then drivers are ok, if not install HTC Sync.
Also if you unlocked your device via htcdev before running RUU you should get it ***re-locked***
> adb devices
gives...
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
List of devices attached
<SERIALNUMBER> device
I guess that is the android device plugged in.
@nenad_l, I have not unlocked my device at all. its ***locked***
Right...
I'm not that advanced, but i guess maybe creating a goldcard might help...
after that i'm all out of ideas, sorry i could not help you more...

I guess your phone is not recognized when in fastboot/hboot. You can try this driver: HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe, I think it's the same as HTC sync.
Or this one: android-usb-driver.zip. Personnaly I have had to use both of them to get my phone detected on my own win7 PC.
you need to type in this order while the phone is in fastboot usb mode.
fastboot devices
fastboot getvar all
then copy and paste everything but delete your IMEI and serial number before posting.

Your CID HTC_038 is indicative of Indian firmware.
You need to use an Indian RUU. Try this one : RUU_Saga_S_hTC_Asia_India_2.15.720.3_Radio_20.4801 .30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_226809_signed.exe from the following link : http://www.filefactory.com/dlf/f/c19f1ec/b/1/h/210113364dd3923da01ff0f34ec9bad7783a82ca/j/0/i/ca5beb0e20534d3cf63ba30ba30f98afa268b323/a/e1a7d405f94acbaeb6a5d9e5c0ddd915ebfb69b7/n/RUU_Saga_S_hTC_Asia_India_2.15.720.3_Radio_20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_226809_signed.exe

No, o don't think so. That's the latest version so I think it'll have the new hboot. I just linked it as its the correct one for your region - India. Plus the misc version is probably higher than your current version, so no issues there. So you won't get the 140 error. Better use the one suku_patel has linked if you want the older hboot for revolutionary purposes. But make sure you downgrade your misc_version before using it... May also be worthwhile taking a look at Simon's unlock utility for the newer bootloaders...

Em there is a good user with the same phone and I believe he said he got JB so with a bit of luck he see this and tell what RUU you need but while you waiting the RUU needs to be 2.38 or higher and match your CID.

Why not soff. Then run lower ruu and do otas to latest.
Better yet then set a HTC cid and unbrand the phone.

Hello all! I've recently attempted to root my HTC Inspire 4G, during the proccess the root failed. Now whenever I try to boot my device I get the HTC logo then it slowly fades to black. I am able to load hboot but nothing else.. I can also connect via fastboot but it seems my phone isnt unlocked because I am unable to flash anything (I get a permission error) and I can not connect to it via adb.
I have been searching for an awnser for around a week, trying every fix I've seen and nothing seems to work. My HBOOT displays
Code:
ACE PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-0.85.0024
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.03.02.26_M
eMMC-boot
Apr 12 2011,00:55:45
If anyone can point me in the right direction or help in anyway it would be greatly appreciated!
Side Note: I am running Linux (Ubuntu 12.10) and do not have access to a machine running Windows so I can't run any .exe excutables (I've tried things like RUU through Wine with no luck even after installing all prequisites)

I had a old copy of aahk from when I've rooted it before (I know ima get some remarks for this), diddn't realize the support for it was gone and used it like I did in the past thinking it would be the same (apparently my phone upgraded to gingerbread without telling me), it failed around the radio flash I believe (I can dig around my shell history if it would help to have that log).
Are you able to boot into recovery of any kind?

I can get into the hboot menu but when I click on recover, factory reset, or any boot I get the HTC logo and it just slowly fades away.

You shouldn't be using the Hack Kit as it has been retired and so have been all the files hosted in the dev site. However, your issue is detailed in the manual...read it carefully again and you will get the solution.

Yes I was unaware it was retired at the time I ran it, I'll look again in the manual when I get home tonight, thank you!
I just reread the manual word for word a couple of times, tried the solution it provided for this problem but all i get is
Code:
Error detecting HTC phone on USB connection.
Maybe my usb debugging got turned off? I'm up to trying any solution (not concerned at this point whether it gets rooted I just need my phone functional again)..

Can you use fastboot? If so, flash a recovery and then flash a ROM.
HTC 4g Inspire soft brick
I have the same issue does someone know how to solve it?
I'm trying to get my father's phone ruu'ed to 3.14 tmo.
I rooted his phone and unlocked through htc dev a long time ago.
He is currently running cm10 w/ hboot 1.09 and radio 0.16.31501s.
S-on w/ tmo CID.
I used faceplam S-off on my phone and lost 3g/4g. I do not want this to happen to his phone.
So what I'am asking is what do i have to do to get his tmo HTC ONE S safely onto the JB 3.14 from htc/tmo?
When i try to ruu using the 3.14 i get ERROR [159]: IMAGE ERROR. It says i have the wrong image and to download the correct one. Its the same one i used on my phone repeatably.
Any help would be great. Really afraid of borking his phone.
after some googling. I found that the ruu has to match the hboot and be re-locked. Some one also suggested flashing a stock zip and stock recovery. However i cant find a stock rom zip for 1.53. So i just tried re-locking and ruu'ing, but now i get ERROR 155.
Any help would be great. Again i can't s-off for fear of being stuck on edge like my phone

to relock
while phone is in bootloader >fastboot USB
fastboot folder, shift right click open command window
from command window type
fastboot oem lock
(also heard but haven't tried because I'm S-Off that you can run RUU.exe from fastboot USB without relocking bootloader)
Edit: to answer the bootloader question. Yes you can ruu a different hboot as long as it is a higher hboot. (s-off no matter)
I got it. I had to re-lock and run ruu 1.84 rc2 first. Then it let me ruu 3.14.
