Ubuntu Touch Developer Preview

Hello everybody!
This is the development thread of Ubuntu Touch Developer Preview build for the Samsung Galaxy R (GT-I9103). It is in a pre-alpha, preview state.

Installation method:
Push the downloaded files to your SD card
Wipe data/Do a factory reset
Install the core system
Install chroot system
Install afterflash
Reboot
Every custom modification to devices have risks. Flash this at your own risk!

Much later, when all of the core functions will be implemented. It isn't a preference yet. I'm focusing on stock JB right now. Just have fixed Bluetooth.

Hey Adam. Plz elaborate Stock JB??? I mean is it similar to Nexus Rom's?

No Buddy, Adam is working on porting stock JB ROM of I9100 to our Royal device you can see the screen shots in Off Topic Thread few days back he posted them.....

I will look into it after exams from 15th March.
Adam you should apply for a developer title. You truly are a elite recognized developer material. :thumbup:

well, wanted to know how's everybody doing with their galaxy s4? i am not a fan of touchwiz so i got installed 4.3 google edition rom and I'm loving it. so blazing fast and getting very good battery. anyone else here using Google edition rom?

Me used GE rom on 505 ,, works fast yeah truee.. did you try gaming? i had lil prob running them cause games might not be compatible wid 4.3??

Hey.. thats why it is supposed to be 4.3 not 4.2.2.. 4.3 brought under the hood performance they say as I am sure sammy will bring additional crapware bloatware and stuff.
I guess my thought about sticking to 8.92 gb pit is right. If this 4.3 update is not smooth and stable I'm off to 11.82 gb pit with the CM..

Maybe yeah. That would be a degrade.. but then there are those new features in camera options.. so maybe.. it is real.. unless someone can fake those options too

What's wrong with the kernel? Google updated the GNexus to 4.3 but it remained with Linux 3.0

The language is Russian, but that baseband on the phone is old, dating back to April 17th. I'm not convinced this is real.

This is same like when I was on s3, someone leaked these kind of photos claiming that s3 will receive kitkat update which never happened.

A simple edit in build.prop is all it takes to change a version number, but the person whose phone this is hopes that someone will be taken in.

I was thinking in that,someone can modify the build.prop,but i hope this is real i want 5.1.1 for my phone or at least if we dont recieve 5.1,recieve android M or 6.0

- Baseband is from 5.0.1
- Build ID LRX22C is android-5.0.1_r1 codebase (5.1 at least r1 is LMY47D and 5.1.1 at least r1 is LMY47V)
That's just a simple ro.build.version.release edit in build.prop, definitely fake.

Android M on the S4 isn't going to happen. The way Samsung is behaving, the I9505G isn't going to be updated either, despite it being the one phone that should be updated.

Well i think i should upgrade my s4 to a xperia o a nexus

Well, Samsung has said they won't be doing it, but I'm sure our developers here will figure something out.

Do we really need Samsung to have M on our phones?

The GPE S4 is supposed to be updated for far longer than the other S4 models. So for updated drivers that S4 can be helpful. Especially the camera, which isn't fully functional on non-Touchwiz ROMs.

Do you think there will be at least an official 5.1/5.1.1 from Samsung to finalize lollipop and fix the bugs.

For you maybe. I don't have any problems. I very rarely use blueetoth too. But when I did it worked fine.
The thing is that it mostly depends on your phone.
I, for instance, haven't experience any serious problems on any roms I've used.

1- very bad ram management
2- very bad battery
3- the overheat

Let's see how the devs use this leaked 5.1.1, I'm very excited.

let us just have a Marshmallow base of any phone, the S7 TW and SystemUI will be easier to adapt
