I just picked up a Moto G from Koodo in Canada as a gift for someone, it was on sale and I figured why not. It was carrier locked so I unlocked it, and it works with my Bell SIM. Perfect, I thought. So I went to charge it on my MacBook and all it did was just turn the phone on. Boots up, won't charge. Try it on my other computer. Samething. Try it on my old Playbook charger, charges.
Is this normal or is there something wrong with this phone?
I'm a dumb dumb. I was using a two different power only USB cables without realizing it.

I couldn't find a Mogul-specific forum - I hope this is in the right place! If not, I apologize in advance.
Just posting here to see if anyone has any ideas on this one..
The Mogul USED to charge with the car charger, then one day, just stopped working. It still gets charged by using the wall outlet charger.
I tried in another car thinking it may be my car - no dice.
I bought another charger off ebay thinking it was the charger, and that one does not work either.
I then had my buddy who also has a mogul try the car chargers, and both chargers charge his phone fine. I think the only thing I did not try is to put his battery in my phone, and see if it charges my phone.
I'm guessing though somehow it's the connector? But why would the wall plug work?!
My buddy's on his way over now - I'll test it with his battery. If it's still not charging I have no idea what to do. Could it be software related? Something I recently installed? It seems more hardware related to me..
Any ideas are helpful - thanks!!
Just a guess, but maybe the car charger uses different pins to charge with than the AC charger, and one of those pins in your phone might be bent out of place.
hmm, possibly.. I guess I'll call Sprint today. I tried another battery in it and it's still not charging - so it's definitely the phone
It must be a hardware issue.
I had the same issue with my car charger. It is a verizon universal one with a mini-usb connector. It is made for the Razr, Q, etc. I found that if i plug it into the splitter thing that came with the mogul, and then plug that into the mogul, it seems to work better. It also makes it easier to use the headset in the car while charging it too.
I tried that too - using the splitter and plugging the charger into that - still no worky
I called Sprint and they basically told me I need to bring it in to a service location, pay the $50 deductible, and get a new one.
I guess that's cool. haha

My problem is quite opposite to the above. I bought a samsung gt i5503 3days ago. Till yesterday my wall charger worked perfect. Today morning when i connected the wall charger my mobile was switched of with a warning " Android S.....! ( I can't even see the warning) and the battery icon gone red before it was switched off. I tried a few times but the problem is same. Then connected the USB data cable and it worked fine. But i have done a search in google and found a tip in XDA forum link. That is to switch of the mobile and remove the battery for few seconds and replace the battery. That's worked fine for once only. The second time the phone switched off again. Then i repeated previous step "removed and replaced the battery" and it worked again for once only. Now I have a doubt on the charger that from the first day some times it took too long to charge and some times while charging the battery level gone down quickly when i received a call. Suggest me if any other tips can help me..! or should i replace the charger.
Doesn't put out enough amperage, or different pins.
My Samsung gt i5503 switches off when charger connected... Plz need help...!
I'm scared to go to service center. All the mobile service centers are not so good at servicing in Hyderabad. i had the experience with nokia, micromax, sony service centers. They might fix the problem. But the other problems may rise after servicing. Help me how to fix this ?
Okay so im talking on the phone with my phone on a usb charger (plugged up to a xbox) and my phone suddenly dies. My theory was that the usb charger wasnt able to acctually charge the phone while i was using it (output>input). So i went ahead and plugged it up to an A/C charger expecting to see the MOTO emblem you get whenever you first plug it up from dying and i didnt get it. Instead my LED turned white. I have tried taking out the sd card and sim card. The only time i can acctually get the screen to come on is when i plug the phone up when the battery is not in it. It goes to the battery screen but instead of showing me a percentage it just shows a "?" inside the battery. I cannot get into FASTBOOT MODE, I cannot get any reponse out of the phone at all... Is my phone a $400 paperweight or is there still a beacon of hope?
You messed up by plugging it into your xbox. You more than likely messed up the battery. Take it into your local store that sells the a2 and see if they will let you try out their battery.

my friend has a Atrix 2 and ill be seeing him today so ill try his battery. thanks man.
If anyone has been having this problem i found a possible solution that worked for me. MY AC ADAPTER WAS THE ISSUE. IF YOUR NOT USING AN AC ADAPTER NOT MEANT FOR A "SMARTPHONE", THEN YOUR PROBABLY GOING TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. (by ac adapter i mean the part you plug into the wall that you connect the usb to.)
so your phone got fixed by getting a proper adaptor?
Earlier today, the OTG cable I ordered came in. http://www.ebay.com/itm/251211470827?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
Now I plugged in my FIIO E07K headphone audio dac/amp and it worked fine. This is something the audiophile guys do, to get better sound quality. and it worked great when I tested it earlier today. I than unplugged it and left the phone normally without it.
Sometime after that, I had enabled fast charge mode to charge the phone. I left this one and forgot about it. Just a few minutes ago, I went to plug the otg cable in, and the phone instantly shut off... I can't get it to power back on, pulled the battery, put it back in, tried the charger , nothing.
Crap I think the fast charge mode killed it. I did not have the fiio e07k on at the time, but it usually lights up when plugged into a source.
Any idea what I can do or try? I have no job right now so this really bums me out. Maybe I can buy a busted verizon S3 on ebay and swap the motherboard?
luckily I have a recent nandroid backup on my micro sd. So think i can just buy a broken screen s3 on ebay and swap the motherboard?
Hey guys, I purchased a verizion s3 mainboard on ebay
I went to charge my phone today but all of a sudden I couldn't just plug it in and have it charge like I normally do. I have to pull my cord toward the front of my phone to get it to charge and I have to leave it like that. I thought it might be a bent connector since I have to force the contact points together, but I don't want to risk anything. I know its not the cord as I have tried 3 different ones and I have used both a computer and a AC adapter to attempt to charge it.
Can I buy a replacement charging port or could it be something else?
Thanks,

As our phones age, this can become a problem. A few months ago, same thing happened to my phone. I called T-Mobile and asked if the charging ports could be repaired. The bad news is that (according to T-Mobile), they can't be repaired economically. The good news is that they'll send you a replacement phone at no charge.
Mobiletechvideo fixed mine for $35.

Hm well that's unfortunate. I forgot to mention that I'm with wind. They charge for warranty repair after 1 year from original purchase date. I'm going to try to go to a warranty center to see how much it is.

I recently received a Galaxy S3 from a friend, and I'm loving it save for a few problems. First, charging is just not reliable. I plug in the phone to a wall adapter and it won't charge. Sometime, unplugging and replugging works, but only sometimes. I've used 3 different wall adapters and wires. Also when it does charge it will always have a red X on the battery icon and it will always just randomly stop charging at different times into the charge. Next, my computer won't recognize it. I installed the drivers but my computer always says driver installation failed for some reason (same with my laptop). This is really inconvenient because if I somehow brick my phone while experimenting, I can't connect to ODIN. Lastly, I was just wondering if the 4.4.2 Verizon variant had a bootloader unlock as I want to flash CM 11.0. If any of you guys know why my phone's charging is so weird, please tell me as this is the most important issue. Thanks in advance!

My gf had the same issue when she updated to 4.4.2 with the battery charging issue. As far as a bootloader unlock your stuck on 4.4.2 and your only options are a few BL locked TW(Touchwiz) roms. You can't downgrade unless you want to hard brick the phone.
As far as the charging problem it sounds like the charging port on the phone might be loose or needs replacing. You do have one option for downgrading which is a JTAG repair which would revert it back to 4.1.2 and you'd have to send your phone out for that and the price is $50, anymore questions feel free to ask
