[Q] At&t new contract policies - General Questions and Answers

Hi I read this information from an at&t blog
Today, we’re announcing a 24-month upgrade policy across all of AT&T’s wireless products and services. This aligns device upgrade eligibility with our standard two-year wireless agreement and it applies to any customer whose agreement expires in March 2014 or later.
AT&T will continue to offer a variety of options to best suit customers’ individual needs:
Purchase a subsidized device with a new two-year wireless agreement. You will be eligible to upgrade your device at the subsidized price after 24 months.
I bought a contract phone in june 2012 from at&t so instead of me waiting till june 2014 on march 1 2014 i can upgrade my device? Let say iphone 5s is still $199 on contract on at&t. If on March 1 2014 i can go to at&t store upgrade my device and get the iphone 5s for 199 dollars? then in 2015 march 1 can get another upgrade?

[Q] End of Contract -> Prorate?

My 2 year contract with AT&T just ended yesterday, December 20, which means I'm on a month-to-month basis right now. I have not cancelled it yet.
I'm planning to switch to T-Mobile in a few days, but I'm still with AT&T as well since I haven't cancelled it yet.
If I switch to T-Mobile, then cancel my AT&T contract, will I have to pay for the whole month for AT&T? Or will I just pay a prorated fee for what serviced I've used thus far?
Thanks

Handset Offer: Offer is available November 20, 2011 through January 7, 2012 . No two year commitment required for the tablet when purchasing the tablet at an AT&T company owned retail store. Online purchases require a two year commitment (see promotional tablet pricing below).
So apparently if you buy the tablet at the store there is no 2 year commitment required... Interesting deal though. I have an upgrade so I could buy this tablet and get a free skyrocket with my upgrade then sell it for $500 and get a free tablet basically... hmm

That was I was thinking. I picked up an Infuse from a family member and my 2 year commitment is done. I could pick up this tablet and get a free Skyrocket, selling my Infuse.

Yes, and No. You can pay a early termination fee and get out from under a contract. The fee will be based off how much time you have left on your contract. You can upgrade anytime by buying a phone outright. If you want to avoid the extra fee then yes you have to wait until the anniversary date to upgrade or get out of contract. Sometimes they give special deals and let you upgrade to a newer phone early. You should call AT&T and ask what your options are. They don't bite.

[Q] skyrocket contract date

I got my skyrocket on june 5 2012, i read a article about early at&t upgrades begining on march 5th i went to at&t site and dialed this *639# the message i got said "Congratulations you are upgrade eligible today for a new smartphone with $0 down on AT&T next; a new way to upgrade every year and get our new lower rate plans. go to att.com for device upgrade" just to be sure that is just saying i can get new smartphone with the att next program? And that my contract ends june 5 2014? I want to know when my phone is off contract so i can trade it in.
This forum is for android software and skyrocket hardware relates issues. Provider contract issues are not relevant topics.

[Q] Best option for minor (17)

Hello XDA,
I'm 17 and I currently have a Galaxy Nexus on Verizon. My contract expires in March 2015. With the LG G3 coming out, or already out, I would like to know what carrier I should go with (I'm 17 so I can't sign any contracts legally) and still get the G3? Right now, to exit my contract and get the G3, I'd spend $350 roughly. $200 ETF and $100 for the upgrade. But because I'm so close to 18, my dad won't let me upgrade.
I had a 2013 Nexus 7 32GB which I sold to get the G3. As of now I have just enough to get the G3 off contract, but I'd prefer NOT to.
My thought:
T-Mobile with the base plan and pay the phone off over 24 months. BUT, because I'm 17, I can't do that. I'd have to go with a no credit check plan and I can't pay the phone off over time, I have to get the phone unlocked.
Many stuck, much option.
