[DISCUSSION][SEMI-OFFICIAL] CM 10 for Galaxy R / Z i9103 [BETA 2.3]

Discuss anything & everything related to the new CM 10 build for Galaxy R / Z i9103 by Adam77Root here. Please report here first if you face any issues with this build and kindly don't flood the Development thread.
This post will be updated with what's working, what's not, new bugs found, etc as the discussion progresses.
CM 10 ROM Build Stage: BETA 2.3 (SEMI-OFFICIAL)
Flash / Install CM 10 ROM:
For Installation method, check the Development thread's first post.(Link has been given below).
Installation Notes:
- You can flash this over any ROM, you just need to wipe cache & dalvik cache before that.
- To avoid bugs just wipe the data partition as well / Factory Reset (But remember to backup via CWM before you do that.)
- Flash Google apps for JellyBean to avoid problems with any of the google apps.
CM 10 ROM Current Status:
What works:
- Mobile network
- Data connection / Data usage stats
- Audio
- Wi-Fi
- Video player
- Accelerometer, magnetic field, proximity, battery temperature sensors, gyroscope
- Bluetooth
- BLN feature (you need to install either the free or the paid version of BLN Control from Play Store)
- Auto brightness needs manual workaround (experimental, use this workaround to get it working: nsmart's post quoted by Adam)
- USB mass storage, MTP, PTP
- USB On-the-Go
- Camera (Can click pictures/panoramas)
- Full Hardware Acceleration with Nvidia and Samsung codecs
- CRT Off animation
- Wi-Fi tethering
What doesn't work:
- HD video recording lags
- Possibly Bluetooth tethering / A2DP
- USB tethering
- FM Radio
- Stock Sound recorder app (workaround: Use any external app like: MIUI sound recorder)
- Moving apps to SD card
NOTES: No specific notes as of now, however it'll be updated if required.
Development Thread for CM 10 ROM:
Here's the link to the Development thread by Adam77Root, but please do not ask any questions there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1870260

We'll need a RED camera for that which captures 1000s of frames per second.
On a serious note you could compare a device which has JB released for it by the manufacturer / has JB OOB side by side with our R.
Maybe that could give you a clue if Project butter is in action or not.
Google Now still not working???
And i found phone to be smooth,is there any substantial difference between project butter and our CM10??

@Adam: As for the camera, bluetooth etc features that are not working, how do you plan to get them working?. I mean do we have the required drivers to get these up and running? or do we have to rely on Sammy to release an official update?
The progress looks really promising. Project butter or not, CM10 is definitely going to be a much smoother experience overall as compared to ICS. Can someone confirm whether Google Now works in this alpha version?

[AOSP stock Android KitKat] Compiled by me [ALPHA 1]

I've compiled AOSP Android 4.4 [KitKat] for the Xperia L. It's stock Android compiled from source, without any mods made to it. I uploaded the boot.img, system.img and userdata.img [find links below]. Just download them and use fastboot to flash them onto your Xperia L (please don't try it on some other device).
You can enter fastboot mode on your device by turning the device off, and pressing the Volume Down button and keeping it pressed while connecting the phone to the PC. From there use the fastboot command that comes with the Android SDK in the platform-tools folder to flash these files by typing in:
fastboot flash boot /boot.img
fastboot flash system /system.img
fastboot flash userdata /userdata.img
YOU MUST HAVE UNLOCKED YOUR BOOTLOADER IN ORDER TO FLASH THIS, AND DOING SO WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO YOUR DEVICE.
Learn to unlock your bootloader here: Unlock Xperia L Bootloader.
Good luck and enjoy! :good:
You can also get Google Experience Launcher for it.
system.img: Download here.
boot.img: Download here.
UPDATE: February 2014
Download the new boot.img here with a custom recovery and KitKat support- Download here.
Credits to @The Dark Knight for this. Thanks alot, man.
userdata.img Download here.
MORE INFO ON HOW TO COMPILE: My Blog.
WORKING:
- Normal calls
- NFC
- Wi-Fi
- Sound
- Camera
- Notification Light
- Aux port
- Deep Sleep
NOT WORKING (as of now):
- Bluetooth
- GPS
- No CPU Deep-Sleep state [RESULT: lower standby and usage time]
- Internal memory will show up as 2GB and not 4GB.
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Flash the boot.img from the Phantom Kernel link above. It has been optimized with Kit-Kat and has a custom recovery. Just flash the boot.img with fastboot, then flash Gapps from recovery and reboot.
- Boot into system and enjoy Google Experience Launcher and Google apps (Play Store, etc.).
HIT THAT THANKS BUTTON IF YOU FOUND THIS HELPFUL!

On the actual AOSP codes, GPS and some other things were not working.
Please consider testing everything before putting up the OP.
Because putting a list of NOT WORKING is as important as the contents of the OP.
I hope you got my point.
Sony themselves have quoted
"Even though the software is not suited for everyday use, and important functions like Bluetooth™ and GPS are still disabled, there are actually a lot of things working already. It is possible to make phone calls, send and receive messages, surf the Internet through either the mobile network or Wi-Fi® connection, take photos and shoot video clips. The LED light, NFC and sensors are also working (at least partially)."
In this link.
well i was waiting for mods for 4.4 like cleas phase clear bass and xloud etc.i dont feel like using a rom without xloud and clear phase coz i listen to music alot and withour xloud the speaker sound is low so
@kinetic_soul your blog post is very detailed and well written. :highfive:
I have collected all the changes to /build from CyanogenMod that are needed to make a flashable zip. all of the commits are in my recaf project on GitHub. You should be able to easily adapt them to work on pure AOSP. you could even integrate CWM to the boot.img like other Sony devices with a bit more work.
Good luck!

There isn't any problems with the loudness. Also, with the Play Music app, you get an in-built equalizer which helps with making the music sound better.

what about the proximity sensor bug that does not lets the phone go to deep sleep which causes high battery drains?

And what about battery drain and internal storage? It still showing only 2GB of internal memory?
I don't matter about bluetooth and GPS but i can't live with battery drain and little internal SD. Tnx

ON MY SIDE NO BUGS TO REPORT .

my method is safer , precautious , plus u can relock bootloader incase Sony releases cool stock , or u need to relock for warranty purposes .. hence the back up TA part , also NOTE THE TITLE , its for noobs , this is to enable anyone to get kitkat . its detailed down to the last bit , i even explan how icons look like . ... other guides have too many gaps that would leave a noob to custtom ROMS frustrated.

Doesn't need to be in caps. There's no need to increase the text size so much either just put it +1 larger than the regular text.

Z3 and Layers/Substratum

Why does the Z3 not work properly with the Layers/Substratum. Didn't Sony actually create the code in the first place and then Google included the code at base level from MM onwards? The themes i've installed look awesome but my phone crashes every time I try to make a phone call and randomly reboots.
I'm running ExistenZ 5.1.0 (MM 6.0.1), Rooted, UB. D6603.
Is there device specific themes for layers etc?
Thanks
Thread moved to Q&A please only post questions in the Q&A sections please
Thanks

After testing these do indeed seem to work properly and look great. Do u know of any more that work with the Z3?

Tested a few more popular and quality looking black themes without success. I'm only really interested in black so won't try much else.
Noticed instagram crashes when updated on Black Material. Another app with a small pop up crashes on Material Glass. Need to be aware these types of crashes are going to occur on themes. Worth it for the look though!
