So I rooted my phone and everything seemed fine. I Installed and used Tasker successfully and had no issues for about 3-4 days. However, today tried to restart my phone and it won't boot past the droid sign. I tried holding down vol + power and booting in recovery, factory, or normal but they all lead back to the droid image with no further actions. I don't think it had USB debugging enabled so plugging it in seems to do nothing. Any suggestions? I am a complete newbie to android and to the forum so any all help is greatly appreciated.

When you hold down power and down do you get to the fast boot menu? If you can all you have to do is use rsd lite and the stock xml file to restore to stock.

So i had my motorola for a year, the problem happened couple of time but not this worse. My phone(XT-720) now cannot turn on, if i power on the phone it has a black screen and the 4 button on the bottom light up. NOW sometimes the phone turn on and it get stuck on the boot up , when the logo show up the phone shut it self down. If i am lucky the phone starts up right, after about 30min it shut it self off. So then i go in the loop. I have only rooted the phone, and i have done nothing else. When i try to go to the boot menu, the phone says that the battery is too low to program anything , but my phone has about 90% of the battery. I love this phone it work fine but now it has this problem, Any tips or solution u guys can tell me?

Download the following first:
1) RSD LITE 4.9
2) MotoHelper
3) Stock ROM of your choice from this thread
After you have downloaded the above, Install MotoHelper followed by RSD Lite. Remove the battery in the phone and re-insert. Press the Power Button+Volume Up Button+ Camera Button all at once. This should take you to Bootloader mode. Connect your phone to your system using a USB cable. Now run RSD Lite in the system. Browse and find the Stock ROM (.sbf) and load it using the RSD Lite. Start flashing. This should take you to back to the Stock settings. Remember this process could take a minimum of 15 mins, please be patient .If any doubts please revert back.
I got the D2Boot strapper and was trying to flash a new rom.
Having some issues, im not nessicarily in a boot loop, but i get stuck at the boot ani screen for about 5 mins then the phone powers off.
i need someway to boot into recovery mode so i can restore a backup.
anyway to do this by button press? or through USB?
try
adb shell "echo 1 > /data/.recovery_mode; sync;" adb reboot"

Powering up your phone by pressing X + power button should bring you to the recovery make sure you keep holding onto X once the phone starts. I believe holding the down button + power should also do the same

You do realize CWM overwrites the existing recovery partition right? No matter what recovery you're using, those key combination will still boot the the recovery partition. These key combinations are hardcoded into the bootloader.
you realize many moto phones have a locked bootloader D2,DX,DX2,D3........
and cwm can not replace android recovery. you must use a hijack
in this case D2 Bootstrap
android recovery remains the same

I would just turn bluetooth off for now. However if you changed phones and he is still there that is really strange and something is seriously wrong.
I am having the worst time with my photon Q. I unlocked, CWM'd, rooted all without a problem. After an unsuccessful soft key mod I went back to restore my saved backup, and restored one from my old phone (Epic 4g) because I am using the same SD card I just got this phone yesterday!
Anyway, now my phone won't go past fastboot. The screen I get reads as follows:
Invalid Flash Mode (S)
10.99(*) (sha-1defefb, 2012-09-20 00:57:56)
eMMC Info: Size 8GB
Device is UNLOCKED. Status Code: 3
Battery OK
Transfer Mode:
USB Connected
Fastboot Reason: Boot Failure
usb connected
My Question is wtf do i do? and my begging starts right meow: PLEASE HELP AS I AM NEEDING THIS PHONE FOR THE WORK WEEK TOMORROW! Thanks so much for all of your guys' awesome work and help.

How do I get these onto my phone/ run them since I cannot get CWM or TWRP to come up?
Here are a few button combinations that tend to be helpful in situations like this:
Power + Volume Down to force a reboot
Volume Up Button while rebooting, to get into recovery
Camera Button while rebooting(i think), to bring up a menu with bootloader, recovery, etc.

Lol, gotcha. What I might do is check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1858959
That is basically what we have that is similar to an Odin restore for the Epic. The file has had some problems, but go towards the end to find links to a modified file that does work(I have used it), and a file someone linked that might be fully working, tho I haven't seen anyone try it yet. Maybe your device is still able to restore this way thru Fastboot.
Thanks found it

I got all that and did it then I don't think my battery was charged enough and now it's stuck in the WARNING BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED screen wish you could remove the damn battery.
Edit/update: Got system.img pushed via CWM after pushing CWM with fastboot. Got RSD to flash the rest of the files from mattlgroff's post on the RSD FXZ thread. After that it was push TWRP and make a backup of everything, then I applyed update, backed up, rooted, backed up. Keeping away from the mods for this week so I can actually use the phone I just got it Saturday. Thanks again to all the dev's and users who helped and continue to contribute to the site and droids in general!

Thank you so much for posting this gem. Bricked behind the boot screen unlocked bootloader warning. Only could get into Fastboot. I thought my rooting days had come to an end. Thank you !
Hi All,
Just got hold of a pretty good condition Nexus S for my Work/ Second phone, and its a dam nice phone. My daily is an N4.
I have read many threads, tried many tips and even ended up rooting and running CM10.1.
I much prefer stock android, so its now on 4.1.2.
Unless I am being an utter nob, and missing the obvious, I cannot get into my Stock Recovery. It seems like its missing.
I have tried Vol+ & power. Vol- to recovery. I get the Android Red Triangle.
I have tried then pressing Vol+ or Vol- or a combination.
I must be doing something wrong.
Any advice would be great.

Just use Nexus root tool kit and put in a custom recovery.. You can use to flash completely to stock, which should restore the stock recovery, but the custom is better and more reliable for flashing..
Thanks for the very quick reply Setting.Out.
I have used the root kit. I used it to root and install a custom recovery.
I used it to return to stock rom too, but still cannot show the stock recovery.
I have seen youtube vids where the red triangle shows and you need to use Vol+ to access your stock recovery, but no luck for me.
Is it possible its missing.
I bought it and prior to buying it was running a custom rom. I asked the owner to return it to stock for me.
I have rooted and got my hands dirty with phones for years and this is just bugging me :silly:

Thanks Chill for the post, it has been useful, just have a question, need to copy some files off the phone from recovery but i get the andriod figure lying down with a red exclamation mark. My Nexus S(stock) keeps rebooting before it gets to showing the home screen. Read from other posts that if i can get to recovery, plug cable into PC then i can copy files. If i re-flash recovery with stock recovery, will i lose my data files?

You don't lose data if you flash a recovery. As a matter of fact, any recovery.

Thanks smit sanghavi, I did finally figured out how to get into the menu of recovery(stock), once you see the green android lying down with red exclamation mark, hold power then click up volume. However unfortunately i might have run out of luck, i couldn't re-flash the stock recovery, because the error says bootloader is locked. As per details in other posts, when i unlock the bootloader, it will wipe all files. Even when im at the recovery menu, windows won't detect the Nexus S when i plug into USB... so unless there is another way to get adb running, then all my files are lost...

More can not help
You can try Alcatel's own software, namely Mobile Upgrade Q (download here), which will reflash stock firmware onto your phone and is designed to recover bricked and/or bootloop phones. You will lose your data though.
Both solutions did not work and issue remain unresolved.
Any recommendation probably using adb commands to unbrick ?
\knowing that developer options are not enabled and there is no way to enable it because the phone is bootlooping
