Better volume control like in voodoo sound? - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, on my nexus s I use voodoo sound all the time not only for the better sound quality, but also for the better volume control. It reduces the increments between each step of the volume's loudness. I find this really useful because it gives me more control over thr volume and I can make it really low if needed for example.
I know our note is not supported by voodoo sound so I ask you, is there any similar app that could give that great volume control?

I second Vilume+, its a essentially SIGNIFICANTLY enhanced version of DSP manager
From what I have heard Voodoo Sound increases volume and makes music sound better as volume gets louder. Basically an amp. To run voodoo sound you have to have the right kernal installed. I think faux's 0.3.8 kernal works for a bunch of different roms including CM7. You can install voodoo sound from the market. If I'm wrong please someone correct me.
Both faux's kernal and voodoo sound have glowing reviews. Check the Development section for faux's kernal.
yes volume+ is good

Unless it's changed in the past couple of weeks, Voodoo on the G2x only helps with headphone/line out audio. It does not impact speaker sound yet.
Alright thanks guys, ill try those to see how it goes.
Volume+ works ok but I found it to be sub par with sound quality.

Just tried volume+ and still same for me:/. Going to be trying out some more to hopefuuly raise my volume up on audio.
Volume boost is a good simple app that does not distort sound quality. However it only boosts headphone volume, not ext speaker.

On volume + , the virtual room enabled gives the speaker a fuller sound.

Lol no it doesn't it just adds an echo to make it sound like it's in a big place.
Nvm guys it does work lol, i tried volume control + instead of volume+ lol, and its just what i wanted. Thanks for the help guys appreciated it

speaker volume

any way to boost speaker/ringer volume?
i'm currently on 2.3.4 (havn't gotten any ota's) and i don't want to root or pay for volume+......
If you want louder volume pay for it.

Download audio manager free, you'll be able to check of you've got a volume bottleneck. If you haven't, you could export your ringtone audio file to your computer and find some free audio maximisation software to boost it's RMS power by compressing the peaks and raising the gain. Distortion lasting less than 4ms is generally considered to be inaudible, so you may be able to raise the sound level by as much as 20dB assuming a normalised original recording with a natural dynamic range. Of course the limiting factor is the amplification circuit in the phone itself which may not be able to handle the higher power requirements, again leading to distortion.
Sent from the future to put right what once went wrong.
I think I've noticed that brainmaster's MIUI has got some sound improvements over stock Android.
I believe any voodoo kernel will boost the volume. Free.

Do you guys not even read the OP..... He said WITHOUT root......

Equalizer
go on the market and try equalizer, it's free and it worked pretty good on the NS4G. at least for me it did. and at the time i didn't root my phone.

Voodoo?

I'm curious as to what voodoo is. I keep hearing its name and I kind of understand it. Would it boost my speaker volume? I don't listen to music on my phone as I have an iPod for that. So would I benefit from this? How do I go about adding it? I am on HellFire 1.8 bye too. I'm sorry if this has been asked already I did a search and didn't see anything.

If you don't listen to music on your phone, it doesn't really make a difference for you. On the G2x, it just increases headphone volume. But if you did want it, install Voodoo control from the Market, plug in some headphones, and enable it. From there, you can increase the Max dB settings to increase/decrease volume.

Thanks for the quick reply. Do you have any suggestions for a good and safe volume boost? My speakers seem really quiet.

On Galaxy S phones, it has a huge increase in sound quality. On the G2x, it only affects volume, based on personal experience. From the Market description:
Market description said:
Introduces LG Optimus 2x and T-Mobile G2x support.
‪11.‬Sound quality is not yet optimal on these devices: needs a lot of work to fix LG issues in their audio implementation and then add more quality optimizations.

volume+ for boost on speakers I believe, and ya I only notice volume with voodoo with headphones no real sound improvements in my opinion.
The DSP Manager lets you tweak the sound as well and I noticed a big improvement in quality using that. It comes with HFP
Pin it to Win it.
Don't give false info...u can't just install the app. You have to have a kernel that enables it. The app just controls it

From the Market for Voodoo Sound app.
Description
This app controls Voodoo sound for Galaxy S, Nexus S phones Galaxy Tab and Asus Transformer running custom kernels implementing Voodoo patches.
If you don't want or cannot flash a kernel, my commercial app "Voodoo Control Plus" has the ability to load Voodoo Sound with only root.
Stock CM kernel does not support Voodoo, but Faux's does.
Just FYI

The only benifit to the g2x that i know of is the increase in dB which is helpful for using with a tape player adapter in a car stereo and driving headphones with slightly higher Ohms.
Also, I get louder volume on the tape adapter which helps with avoiding static by not having to turn the volume up so high.

[Q] Better quality sound ?

hey guys
By any chance is there an app or zip file that can help my sound quality louder ?
when i'm outside and my phone starts ringing i cant hear it and i miss the call....
right now i'm using CM10 Crespo4g ROM
Voodoo sound. You must be rooted to use. DSP is another. Not sure if root is a requirement for DSP
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
so i am using DSPManger but and i'm not sure if i'm doing it right but for the speaker i put everything at max but somehow it still seem the ringtone is the same ?
can u help me how to use it ?
thanks
There's no way to really boost the volume for the Nexus S. You can make it sound louder by playing with the compression but that's about it.
In DSP manager go to speakers and try moving the equalizers up all the way
to boost the speaker sound just download Poweramp and choose the "loud speaker" equalizer, which amplify the medium frequencies. It will sound much better

System wide audio boost

Hey people,
I'm coming from an HTC phone with beats audio. I enjoyed the volume boosting properties of Beats and am wondering if something like this yet exists for the Nexus 5. Audio through headphones is too low for me. Thanks
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
There is a faux kernel modification but I have yet to hear that this boosts headphone output as well. I hope so because it is the only major quip I have with the phone
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
I noticed the low headphone volume also. I hope Google ups it a bit in an update when they fix the speaker.
Yeah, it's definitely something that has been bothering me. The headphones that I have, because they allow in ambient noise, are not well suited for a phone with such low volume range. I really hope we can get an EQ flash soon. Something ala beats would be great.
