Wall charger. - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My RAZR Max HD wall charger is 1000ma. Will the battery life be effected if I use a charger that is 850ma. I realize it will take longer to fully charge the phone.

No it won't really matter. Although sometimes it won't charge on anything but the factory charger.

If at all possible, use the factory charger. I've tried a 1amp/1000mA that came with a galaxy nexus. It didn't charge as fast and I would attribute that to the original being 6 watts.

No issues with the HTC charger that came with my HD2, 5v @ 1A. The Moto charger hasn't even come out of the package yet!

Charger Question

Hello everyone,
I can't find my wall charger. I had to charge my phone so I used a wall charger for my tablet. The charger's output is 5v-2amp. The oem charger's output is 5v-1amp.
My question is will my temporary charger have any negative effects on my phone since it charges 1amp higher than the oem charger?
It shouldn't. My friend used his iPad charger for his iPhone long term. It didn't have any negative effects on it.
Edit: all it did was make it charge faster. An it did have a different voltage and amperage output than his iPhone charger..

Depending on the internal circuit of HOX, it may or may not harm your phone. iDevices are pretty good at operating with other iDevice accessory and may have circuits built to prevent damage. Check if it gets very hot - if true, don't use it.

USB is a universal plug designed for up to 2 amp at 5v... Typically the phone (or device) will only draw as much as it's a capable of handling... But I concur with the above post, if you think is getting to hot just charging, probably stop...

I agree about the charging faster and this reminded me of an article that I had read recently. Check this out:

I use my touch pad charger to charge my one x. It charges a lot faster. No negative effects.

Amazon Kindle chargers work as well as OE HTC chargers, and the cable is longer. I bought a couple of the $.01 chargers from Amazon for my Inspire 4G, and while they worked, the official HTC ones charged faster. When I got the HOX, the cheap chargers would charge for a bit, but then stop. So I picked up an extra Kindle charger and it works great!

+1, also use my kindle charger for my HOX, much longer than the stock HTC cable and charges just as fast.
I charge my Kindle with my HTC One X charger and I charge my HTC One X with my Kindle charger.
My car dock is attached to a 2.1A charger, no extra heat and no other obvious negative affects.

Charge RAZR with Sensation charger

Hi everyone my droid RAZR's charger is bust. Will it be bad for the battery if I charge it with my HTC Sensation's charger?
The RAZR charger is 0.1V more and the sensation is 150mA more with regards to output

Using the Sensation charger to charge the RAZR won't hurt anything.

I meant volt. Sorry

If the amperage is more it won't make a difference, all usb chargers should be 5v. If the amperage is less than that of the HTC charger it may not charge or register a charge but actually discharge (fatal to a lipoly battery if it drops too low). The amperage is the maximum load the device can safely output the 5v. If the charger was rated at only 0.5amp then the voltage would drop (it might only output 2v or spike randomly) if the phone tried to draw more, if the charger used shoddy conponants then it may overheat and set on fire.
A higher amp rating is fine, infact you may get a cleaner output. For example your wall outlet might be rated at 13amp but you can plug in a 1amp shaver or a 13amp kettle - it makes no difference.

How to allow 2amp phone charging?

Is there any way to take advantage of a 2 amp charger with my Droid Razr MAXX HD? I also would appreciate a heads up on the best way ROM/Kernal/etc. to get the most battery life from it.
I have a system version 183.46.15.xt926 Android version 4.4.2
Thank you!!!

Look in this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-razr-hd/general/index-motorola-droid-razr-hd-2015-t3167557. Find the "Rooting" heading and follow the directions on rooting your phone. Look into "Bloatware removal" and trim down your stock ROM. The RAZR MAXX HD has great battery life and rooting your phone and de-bloating your phone will increase battery life even more

What? I think you're confused. Basic USB port standard is 0.5A for laptops and 1A for desktop computers, so early devices drew 0.5A max charging current.
Later devices, around the time smartphones were introduced, had internal detection circuitry that could tell if it was plugged into a computer or a dedicated charger, and would draw a maximum of 0.5A from a computer and 1A from a charger.
Around 2011-122, Apple tried to independently implement a rapid-charge feature that could draw 2A from a charger, and USB spec shortly thereafter implemented a standard (non-Apple) method for getting 2A from a charger or from properly equipped USB charging ports.
There's never been a USB-connected device that draws 5 (not to mention 10) amps for charging. Trying to draw that much current would make it heat up like an incandescent light bulb and fry the pins inside the connector, at the very least. 2A is the maximum that anything is designed for, even Apple and Samsung devices.
To the OP: 2A charging is something that's controlled by the device itself, and it would be built into the hardware. If that feature is not included from the factory, there's no way to add it later. Sorry, your phone can only draw about 1A maximum when charging, even if you connect a bigger charger.
Also, since you can't unlock your phone, there's no way to add a different kernel or change the ROM.
