I just realized that when I'm using mobile internet for reading Android Central app this morning.Pictures on the article are blurry, just look like a low size image. But whenI connected to wi-fi, and I refresh the page, those image become clear as it is a higher resolution image. I tried so many times to find the setting to make the image looks good when I used mobile internet data but still no result. Any help please
I have not seen this issue or read about anyone else having this issue.. maybe it's your carrier compressing the data. What carrier are you with?

Can someone please advise how to make my pics I receive via text to not run as a 5 second video? I'm not sure what I did but I'm certain it didn't do this initially.

Are you using stock messaging app or something else? Which ROM?
my mms have been doing this since android 1.1
yeah.
This is how the GSM network sends Android MMS'. If you find a friend with a Sprint or Verizon CDMA Android device, you'll see it just sends as a photo. Crazy, huh?
Actually I believe this is how Samsung devices handle it. Although I can speak for cdma devices, I know my atrix and nexus one didn't do this. Its just houw the stock app works. If you use a different app like go SMS the problem is gone.
I like the landscape view in the stock app which is why I didn't make the switch myself.

Yes I'm using the stock ROM and the original mms app. I guess perhaps it did this since day one but I'm realizing it now lol. Appreciate your responses and I may try a different mms app.

For some reason every time I get a picture through text from someone it always shows up extremely small to the point you can't even see it. It only started recently and I have no idea why it is doing it. I am rooted but it was doing this way before that. Any suggestions? I've checked the settings for MMS and nothing appears out of the ordinary.

You using a custom rom, or are you running stock rooted?
I have the same issue on CleanROM 5.1 and wasn't sure if it was just this rom or if something else was up.
I'm running cleanrom. It was the first rom I loaded after root. No problems. I swear it is the phone itself...because it did this before root. And after root it worked for a few days I was excited then BAM! Back to microscopic pictures.

i remember reading iin a few other threads around here that its carrier restrictions and is limited to how big a picture can be send through mms and gets compressed, PNG files seem to get compressed alot hence reduces the file size and quality dramatically and causes the tiiny pics.
for me on att ive only noticed this on PNG files everything else goes through fine. running custom roms/stock
Hmm. Yes I just realized one worked from my buddy s3. But it seems to screw up the ones sent from my friends iPhone...talking compressed down to 1kb lol. Literally.

i think that is an issue with the mms compression on the iphone and how our phones uncompress the images. make sure that you have you mms size limit maxed out. and something else you might try is a 3rd party sms app.
Yea I have the option set to max...I figured it was something to do with iPhone. Weird it just started happening. I will try another app but those usually end in people getting multiple text and whatnot. I always use go SMS but people would keep saying "you've sent me the same text twice" ugh.

The best way to get the proper apn settings is to call the provider. They will tell you what they are. It may be faster than waiting for a response from someone here.

This is true. But AT&T's apn, should be all over Google. Plus, most of the time, when calling tech support, they have no clue what APNs are, are they may refer to what they have in their systems (BROADBAND, PHONE, PDPWAP1, PTA, etc).

well all I want is to set it to simple mobile
So call them and ask for their apn settings. It seems no one here knows what they are. You can try to Google it too.

Hello. I recently moved from the iOS platform onto the Android platform because I believe it provides a lot more freedom than Apple will ever allow. I used an app on my iPhone for a very long time called CoverMe, which is basically a texting/vault application that is encrypted and secure. The older I get, the less I trust those harvesting my data. I downloaded the app onto my new HTC One M8, but unfortunately it does not work. I open it and it immediately crashes, asking me if I want to report the crash to Google. It does work, however, when I am connected to WiFi. I emailed the developers about a month ago, but have received no solution. I'm not sure if anyone on these forums will be able to help, but it's worth a try. If attaching the logs/crash reports will help someone fix my issue, I can attach them.
Does anyone else have this problem with CoverMe, specifically on the HTC One M8? If you've come up with a solution, please let me know.
Thank you.

Just tried it and it crashed. You may want to email the app author.

I've emailed them on multiple occasions. A new update was just released today and I was hoping for a fix, but unfortunately it's still producing the same result. I'm going to attach the new logs in an email to them and hopefully that will help more.

I just launched the app in WiFi and it went through set up and everything. Try WiFi instead of using your cell connections.

I wrote about both of your suggestions in my first post, which you apparently did not care to read. I do not have WiFi at my house and therefore cannot use it on a consistent basis. Thank you for your comments.

If you want to get snippy, that's fine. But your original post only says it works on WiFi and never indicated you tried it on a cell connection. I was just telling you I got it to work.
Surely you visit a McDonald's that has free WiFi. Start the app there otherwise just deal without it. You don't have to be on WiFi all the time, just to connect to the app to accept the TOS.

I was not getting snippy. I thought it would be implied I tried it on my cell connection, as I wouldn't attempt to try it with no connection at all, and WiFi is the only other option. I used WiFi to accept the TOS and create my account a while ago, but it still crashes regardless when I open it and enter my password on my 4g connection.

I've been using the app you suggested for a little while now and it actually works pretty well. The only issue is that it unfortunately does not have an iPhone counterpart. That's okay, it will suffice until CoverMe comes out with a fix. Thank you for your suggestion.

Yeah! Try it only for installation and to set it up. Once installed properly, I think that will work fine after will cell connection.

(As I previously said) It still crashes while using my cell connection, even after I made my account.

I get this issue ALL THE TIME when I'm trying to use Snapchat, but I'm assuming that's just an issue with the app and it's compatibility with my device, ROM, kernal, etc. I haven't noticed it happening with the Camera Next app (Cyanogen stock camera), but I also haven't tried using it much.

That's a well-known Cyanogenmod issue which I frankly hoped would not occur on this CM-powered phone. I did have it happen too on some occasions regardless of which app triggered the camera.
The good old "Restart Camera" APK seems to do the trick even though it takes a lot of time to reinitialize the camera afterwards. See here for the APK: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/themes-apps/17-fixed-camera-app-lib-cm-aosp-roms-t2505973
Yeah same here with Snapchat

Not sure whether it would be worth flash a different ROM just because of this issue. Shame though because I really do like this ROM.

I just downloaded the Camera Reset apk that someone previously mentioned and I'm hoping when Snapchat loses connection to the camera, using the reset app will fix it. Better than restarting the phone.
