hi every one
could some one explaine this please
my device was in stock 2.3 ROM, every thing works fine
then upgraded to official ICS => wifi stopped (turning on... then error)
now i did s-off hboot, installed recovery, then started to install custom roms
i tried ViperS 1.6.3, and ARHD but... same problem, non working wifi
today i flashed [ROM] CM10.1-RC5 AOSP 4.2.2 Jellybean [KANG] [June-10]
so the rom works fine like other roms and wifi not working BUUUUUUUUUUUUT !!!
when i remove the rear cover then restart the device (without the rear cover) and THE WIFI WORKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
but when i put back the rear cover (which contains the wifi antena) the wifi stopps and return back to the old problem (turning on... then error)
what the ********** is this ??????????????????
please explain because my head started to become big and i'm started to get sick
EDIT:
hey !!!! i let the device as it is and i didn't touch it at all, after 40min i checked the phone and the wifi is on and it's working !!!!!
so i tested the web browser to confirm that it's really working and every thing was good
now i turned wifi of, then tried to turne it on and the problem was back againe (turning on wifi....)
so basically i think that the wifi takes long time to turn on, i'm letting it now for an other couple of minuts and i'll see what it gives.
please explain !!!
i'm using CM10.1-RC5 AOSP 4.2.2 Jellybean ROM with Sultan kernel r24
Wifi does not work [ROM] CM10.1-RC5 AOSP 4.2.2 Jellybean [KANG] [June-10]

Did you flashed 3.33 firmware? It is necessary when migrating from GB to ICS or JB

I migrated from the "cm-10.1-RC2-20130517-Albinoman887-pyramid" and the WiFi worked on the old firmware.

Thanks, I'll try Wifix.I can not change the region code WiFi (it is not saved when you exit, again, is in the position of Europe).
okay here is all what i did
i was on ISC (stock s-on) upgraded from GB with non working wifi ( ON STOCK GB WAS WORKING )
i did s-off with juopunutbear's method
flashed 4ext recovery
flashed a custom rom (vipers rom) (yes i did full wip befor flashing and i'm not using smart flash because i'm s-off)
after bootup, non wofking wifi (turning on wifi...)
now i started to play with roms and kernels ( with respecting the rule of flashing boot.img avery time )
some times, while wifi is saying turning on... i reboot to recovery and flash an other kernel then reboot, and wifi work !!! but only for 30 seconds and afterthat goes....
after that i was sick and i decided to return back to stock rom and restart from zero
after flashing stock rom...... THE WIFI is not working too !!!!!!!!! EVEN IN STOCK ROM !!!!
i tried these stock ones
RUU_PYRAMID_ICS_HTC_Europe_3.33.401.6_Radio_11.76A.3504.00U_11.24A.3504.31_M_release_266171_signed

RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.50.401.1_Radio_10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01_M_release_223042_signed
and i noticed also that on stock GB rom the wifi keeps turning on and off !!!
so i tried also other firmwares 3.33 <> 3.32 and the resault was the same (turning on...)
but some times, when i try to change something (for example flash a new kernel) then reboot the phone and remove the rear cover, the wifi forks !!! and it connects to my network, and update weather and install some apps
once i put back the cover it stopps
i also tried wifix app changed my wifi region code..... same problem
i also tried the Script_Manager_ads methode
not working....
what i did wrong !!!
what i didn't do !!!
what shoud i do !!!
please... :crying:
OOOOHHHH MY GOD !!!!!!!!!

if you succeded don't forget to post the solution
it would be nice for other users to solve their wifi issues:good:
SOLVED !!!
after 3 hours of non stop wifi connection and some reboots and switches on the wifi button, i think it's now safe to say that i fixed my wifi now.
here is what i did ( and what you should do also )
1) check my signature to view my device's configuration (hboot, radio, recovery, rom and kernel)
2) Download the attached apk and install it.
it's market unlocker (vipers rom users... i advice you to use this one, not the one provided with the rom because simply it didn't do the fix for me.
3) open market unlocker then scroll left, select US T-MOBILE the first one
4) go back to the application main screen and enable unlocker and auto enable, after that click (reset google play). that's all, do not touch any other option
5) restart your phone, enable your wifi
you are done !!!
so basically, the app will change google play region to USA, and that's what wifix manager don't do.
now by doing this, you will not only fix your wifi, but you will have acess to more applications on play store (some new applications will appear)
6) the most important step. Remember!!! say thanks to GOD each time you enable your wifi.
don't forget to hit thanks if this helpd you
i swear to GOD that i will pray for you all to fix your wifi because i really started to hate this wonderfull deice (that i baught 2 days ago that's all) but finally it revived
good luck for you all my friends...
i hope to see your rsaults soon
sty connected

Is TiBu working yet? And can I install this over another ICS Rom?
Love your rom. I tried the new ics but had tons of fc. Not only did tibu but also with waze and a few others. I went back to collective 3 for now. Patiently waiting for your next masterpiece
Skyrocket,
I was trying to follow your other thread ( no data loss gb rom ) and got lost...
Needless to say, I'm glad you've created a new one.
My question is: Is THIS rom your current 4.0.3 project? I'm still running 2.3.6 (NexusMod4) and would love to try out a stable (or at least somewhat stable) ICS rom.
Thanks in advance, and as always - thanks for the hours of time you and other devs put into these masterpieces!
yes this is my current ics android 4.0.3 rom
link has been removed from op
uploading updated version with changes ......tibu has been fixed so be patient i will update the op with new link asap
you can flash this from gb without wiping anything
yeah i accidentally added back the preloadinstaller
thats what causes the force closes and tibu not to work

Well, I just attempted to flash it (without wiping first) and got stuck in a boot loop.
Any suggestions?
EDIT:
As I let it attempt to boot several times, it seems to get a little further into the boot animation. I've now seen just a little bit of blue swirls behind the earth.

Yes restore yourbackup and wait for new upload
probs with the theme
I was running fine on the ICS rom (ics3.zip) and installed the theme. Now I'm getting lots of apps unable to run (handcent, lookout, juice defender, ROM manager). Ran fix perms in recovery (couldn't get into ROM mgr to try there) and didn't help... Just wanted to let you know.
I flashed mhx Superlite 4.5 over the previous version (ics3 I think) of Silver ICS and it fixed the freeze at shutdown issue for me. That rom has a wipe script too but that one wipes and formats data (also aligns disc partitions--not sure if yours does that).
I'm wondering if the freeze at shutdown issue has something to do with data not getting fully wiped.
I'm going to try flashing your latest rom over Superlite and see if I get the shutdown freeze again. I'll report back with results...
(I should mention that one person posted that they flashed mhx's rom and got the freeze at shutdown for the first time, so who the hell knows...)
I don't like being impatient, but I'm seriously sitting here biting my nails waiting for the download link to come back (with the latest version).
The suspense is killing me!!!

Hello everyone,
I got a huge problem, i installed the acura rom from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778299
Followed all the steps, rom installed fine, everythign seems to work, but it seems like the phone dont use my sim card, there is no need to enter a pin (on every other phone i need to enter a pin to use this sim card), i cant phone any1 and of course there is no mobile data.
Tryed another sim card, same problem. I guess the baseband version isnt compatible to my country/provider?
Iam using o2/netzclub and i live in germany.
Any ideas?
Edit, i think its not the baseband fault, my other roms work fine with this baseband version, so its up to the rom, it looks so great, i want to use it but i cant. It was the first rom which shows me realistic battery dran infos.
You need install a baseband, flash 21e, this works

hey, thanks for answering, this baseband flashing look really risky, would this be the only way to get this one rom working?
Iam wondering why all the other roms work fine, but only this one needs this kind of baseband flashing?
Iam bit scared to brick my device,
right now, it looks like that:

I used other 21E based roms who worked fine, why this one not?
Did i get it right, baseband is independent from rom/kernel? Is it the same like whats called "modem" on a htc hd2 device?
Edit:

I used this rom without problems, and its 21E based, so i dont get it...
Edit2: ThiaiZ 21E based rom also dont get any connection, now iam confused, is it safe to flash the basband like shown in the tutorial even without moding the usb cable?

do not worry I do not think anything happens, I already miss and I have a lot of people do.
after flashing this baseband i wont be able to use my old rom what i used till now right?
download GetRIL
Try different RILs. For Acura I use V20p
If one does not work in 20 seconds - reload the backup and then try another one like V21E.
You will see also which Baseband you have at the moment.
I think you have incompatible RIL/Baseband combination
so, i flashed another baseband, at first i really thought my device is broken, cuz lg flash tool got an error. but i unpluged the device and was happy that it bootet up
But it was unusuable, there was not a single kb left on the phone flash, so it wasnt able to save anything, then i rootet it and it worked normal (lol :laugh
Then CMW>backup>acura 3d rom > connection work!
now iam testing the new rom
Thank you so much.
But, acording to the phone info the baseband is still the same?! still dont get it xD, its confusing, bbut it works, hope that the battery life is better now.
Man could you please describe us step by step what did you did?
The thing is I live in Brazil and I already have an GB baseband, but it is based on P920h v20a... I can flash v20a roms to v21d
But if I flash v21e roms I get no signal
I've already tried to flash 21e baseband and kdz and still got the same issues (even If after that I flash the Custom ROM)
No luck also with GetRIL
So I was almost giving it up because I thought that due my contry region code I wasn't able to flash v21e firmwares...
It seems that you had similiar issues, but I couldn't understand very well what procedures did you take to suceed.
So if you could describe it better I would be very thankfull.
I used the methode described here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667414
didnt used a mod usb cable, just the normal one,
but it took me severel trys to success, like described there, u need to instal the 4 or 5 parts before, also dont forget to exchange the lgflash file.
Then connect the phone, change the com port to 41, start flash software, load the both downloaded files (.ddl and the ~500mb bin file). then unplug the phone and connect again (took me about 2 or 3 trys until the software startet flashing), else then shown in the description the lgflash software didnt show "pass", it showed "FAIL"
But the phone was able to boot, the flashed android was crap, before rooting nothing worked, but doesnt matter, flashed cmw and acura 3d max rom and now it works good, bettery life is better now, but still worser then my old hd2
The hd2 wasnt bad at all, from todays view its a bit slow, but it got fully workign ics cm9 support, this newer lg o3d is "highend" and we are stuck to gb, sad, but the phone was cheap.
back to topic, good luck at flashing

I had the exact same thing happen to me, and all I did was install http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1207477&d=1342660414 through ClockworkMod and now everything works FANTASTICLY!
I also tried installing the 21e baseband first, and it didn't work to fix the problem, so I'd try this.
Hope this helps!
I'm live in Argentina and here the basebands are 850/1900 MHz.
There is only 3G connection and I have a big problem with ICS. With Stock 2.3.5 Modem 3G connection works fine and the signal is good, everything is fast and without cuts but when I installed 4.0.4 I have tried all the radios and all roms and none work well. With all the radios the connection always go bad. When I do a "ping" a host, I lost more than half of the packets.
Anyone know if I can use the 2.3.5 radio on ICS ? Anyone have my problem? I can use radios from other devices on my Skyrocket?
I wish I expressed the problem well, sorry for my little English.
UPDATE 08/14/2012:

2 - Back to Android GB 2.3.5 via ODIN
3 - Install TWRP Recovery via ODIN http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28720265&postcount=262

5- 3X Wipe data / Factory reset
6- 3X Wipe Dalvik Cache
7- 3X Format System
8 - Install JB AOKP http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1881994
9 - Install gapps7-26 http://goo.im/devs/R4INS/gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip
10- Wipe Caches and voilà ...
(Note that I did not install ICS at any time)

The UCKJ2 modem works fine in GB but does not support ICS. I tried all variations of Cyanogenmod, AOKP, Leaks and all the stock roms. All radios and roms convinations possible. Too many months ago that I have this problem and can not find solution. I've already read all XDA and have not found anything. It seems like almost everyone here has LTE connection to anyone concerned about this issue. I can not believe that Samsung has developed a modem so poor! Or is it a kernel problem? I also tried different kernels. I'm really starting to believe that there is no solution.

I have to confess that UVLG3, seems to have better signal, but the problem remains the same, slow connection and packet loss. How I can know which modems are compatible with the Skyrocket? Any chance of some modem port i9000 even if I lose the LTE connection? Thanks.
The 2 modems I linked are from t989 which is the same as the skyrocket minus LTE so it should have better 3g. I'm pretty sure i9000 modems wont work and may cause a lot of issues.
Try dialing *#2263# in 1 of them modems I gave you and choose a specific band under WCDMA, if you get signal go out and test speeds. It may be that your phone is connecting to a weaker frequency which may cause the issues. Besides that I really don't see a reason why you'll have so many issue with this phone and other work unless your phone itself is malfunctioning. Try using a sim of a different phone provider with preferably different bands.

In Argentina the basebands are 850MHz and 1900MHz, the only three companies we have here, working with the same frequencies. In theory AT & T uses the same bands as us. I've tried the 3 companies in my phone and the same thing happens. In GB all is perfect but something is failing in ICS.
Some library or something is wrong and I refuse to go back to GB.
JB does not work in some cities, but that's a topic for another time as it is still very alpha.
Thanks for your help, I'm very frustrated, I have a special appreciation to the phone because it was a gift from my father. He passed away this April 28.
First of all I'm sorry for your dad.
Second you can do 1 of 2 things(or both if the first one wont work):
1) Use odin to flash stock GB on your device then update it to ICS again via kies. Maybe something in the process last time got messed up and doing a fresh start would fix it.
2) Simply stick to any of the GB roms, most of the things if not all should work just fine on it.

Hola hermanito, what was the JB rom that you used? The link above is referring to this post.
Gracias
Will doing this allow you to select 2g or turn off lte if on att using cm10 without manually network selection?
Check the APN settings for your mobile carrier. I had problems immediately after flashing miui.us 9.21 but once I set the right APN I now have stable 4G.

Nevermind its not related to the rom you used.
First time your instructions did not work.
I did it again without flash the gapps and it worked like a charm.
Thank you very much for your post, it really helped me!!!1

Hola Bro! I´m using http://rootzwiki.com/topic/34092-aokp-unofficial-galaxy-s-ii-skyrocket-i727-sept-26-jb-build-3/
Saludos!
Men I live in Honduras and Im having the same exact issues as you had, also my provider uses the same bands I will try your steps and see what happens in advance thank you!
So i'm having some trouble here.
Anything such as CM10.1 or any CM or related custom rom I install gets unstable after x amount of days.
And any CM based rom has the poorest battery life I could ever imagine. I've wiped everything multiple times. I've attempted to full restore and start over on a fully "reset" phone. It's killing me - as I'm an active college student who doesn't have time to sit around a wall outlet anymore [like I use to] to always have a good phone charge.
Anything else either turns out to be;
Unstable -or
Laggy -or
Fail to flash correctly -or
Camera and/or Gallery either isn't there, won't load, crashes, or fails to even hint about being usable.
I honestly am about to just dump this phone, as the screen is already cracked. And development slowed to a halt it seems.
I said screw it the other night, and went to install CleanRom 6.5, only to find that it starts installing [after clicking through my options in Aroma] andd loads for 1-4 seconds then says "DONE" with 0% completed and says everything installed perfectly. However when I go to reboot TWRP notified me I had no OS installed which made sense considering I've never had a rom install in <5 seconds.
Moving on though, anyone have any suggestions? And I do mean any? I've used the OneX tool for everything, AND done the usual [root/unlock/recovery/s-off -> custom rom] with that and manually to have no success between the two. Do I just have a busted device? Something faulty perhaps in the circuit board? I honestly haven't a clue. But all I know is, CM is and probably will forever be my favorite. However my phone died yesterday after 3 hours of sitting in my pocket and today I barely touched it compared to my normal use on sense based or other roms which I'll get 8+ hours out of. I just don't know what to do anymore. I use to consider myself a flash-a-holic where I'd be reinstalling ROM after ROM just to see what all the amazing and different features they have - then running new kernels. But now it isn't even usable.
My signal has also been in the toilet. A friend of mine has the same exact phone and we can put them right next to each other, he'll have full bars on AT&T and i'll have one or two [if i'm lucky]. I've flashed every radio up and down - back and forth. Flashed the radio and all else EXACTLY like his phone and I quickly found myself stuck in a hole with a better paperweight than phone. My last effort was to do wipe after wipe and battery calibration apps hoping that may be my problem and I'm stupid for over thinking it. But... if anything it made it worse.
Should I dump it? or is there hope. . .
I don't see how it could be my battery considering.. well... roms OTHER than those based on CM have been perfect on battery life just like they were when I first got the phone. But they don't have operable camera and/or gallery. I also uploaded a picture of my past 8~ hours with this phone. Note the past 2/3 hours. I know I've noticed some "slight" change..

What Hboot?
What recovery/version?
S-ON or S-OFF?
You said you'd tried wiping, have you tried RUU?
Edit: that said, don't just go flashing running RUUs, unless you're s-off.
As for battery drain, disable Google location services while you are on wi-fi. It really kills aosp roms For other issues see Exad's reply above. Easier to help with more information.

Alright, I'll try that - even though I rarely use any GPS or related service.

Hi Guys.
Short info:
- before: HTC One M8 Verizon, Android 4.4.4 (RUU M8_VZW 4.4.4), rooted, S-OFF, Super CID, TWRP 2.8.3.0
- after: HTC One M8 Verizon, Android 4.4.4 (Viper OneM8 3.2.1), rooted, S-OFF, Super CID, TWRP 2.8.3.0.
Few hours ago I finished "converting" HTC One M8 Verizon from 4.4.4 to T-Mobile version, successfully installing Viper OneM8 3.2.1 over 4.4.4 RUU firmware, as described in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2710720
The main reason for the above was lack of LTE services under Verizon firmware (I live in Europe).
Finished installing Viper ROM, configuring phone, restored content (apps, contacts, settings etc) - part of it manually. LTE still not available, and continued to verify.
In the end I started to check Viper Tweaks section, and finally got to Misc - Phone info. While there, I checked also Radio bands, and I was stuck in the radio menu, with only 3 options (US Radios, 900-, 1900-). Had to select one to continue, and ... the winner was 900-. Instantly lost GSM signal and never came back.
Just to be nicer, after reboot (normal reboot), 900- option disappeared from Radio bands in Phone info advanced menu, and never came back. No matter what I did.
What I did try (all with full wipe / formatting etc):
- resetting Viper ROM
- reinstalled Viper ROM
- reverting to RUU M8_VZW 4.4.4 nandroid backup (saved before first installing Viper ROM).
- reverting to clean RUU M8_VZW 4.4.4 firmware
- flashed 4.4.4 radio from this topic: forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-htc-one-m8/development/radios-0-89-20-0222-t2824882
- reverting to Viper One ROM, this time installed with T-Mobile version. Same outcome, different message: "error er05 invalid sim".
Error messages stepped on:
Constant: "The SIM card is from an unknown source"
From time to time: "your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network."
If I tried to select GSM network and search for operators (manually / automatic): "No network found. Select "Yes" to switch to global mode, or Select "No" to stay in current mode." And "Error searching for networks" / "No networks found".
The only thing that did not have possibility to check (yet): SIM card health.
UPDATE: SIM card checked and OK, phone registered finally (T Mobile version of Viper One had also "Auto" option under Radio band, in Phone info hidden menu! ).
Still working on this, managed to solve it while compiling this post, but still have the question: what have I done so wrong, and how can I get back to the "good" setting? Is the radio band setting so resilient to full format, several ROM's and resets, even radio firmware change?!
I will revert with updates!
Thanks!
I've been into your position. It seems different ROMs have different options in phone menu. My guess is it depends on what source the rom is built from. There's a threads here on XDA showing how to unlock other bands of the phone. And t stays that way even after RUU. Here's mine

Vanshee, thanks for your inside.
What ROM are you on? How did you "unlock" all the band options in there? :cyclops:
As I said, I managed to solve the matter while was posting the topic. Seems that, after reflashing Viper OneM8 ROM, this time choosing T-Mobile US in Aroma, and not Default, I was able to select Auto in Radio band, and is working.
It still has no LTE in my region, and is also showing full signal all the time, even in places that I know having poor GSM signal. Everything else is working, at least until now.
Thanks again!
Ok i will give you 2 links for threads dealing with said unlocking of radio bands, but like most of the cool stuff here on xda you should be warned - any slight mistake could lead to hard brick. And a piece of advice - when start changing numbers in the needed moment following these guides - write down somewhere the original numbers you have. Or you will end like me - unlocking every possible band in order to bring back my signal to life. I'm serious dude - be very careful in following these guides.
You have been warned!!!

Ok Vanshee, got it. Already been on the second link, I was studying it while making final try with Viper ROM, but abandoned it as the "soft" method payed up.
Thanks for links and warn-outs!

Hi im stuck on 2g on a verizon m8. I flashed the verizon version of the last kitkat based viper rom and chose tmobile as my carrier is GSM based (Orange Dominicana 900mhz 3g) i think thats what you meant, could yo please confirm?
but it did not solve my issue.
please help.
elander, that is correct. Initially I installed Viper ROM in default mode, after losing signal I tried RUU, nandroid restore etc. Finished with Viper in T-Mobile install, and that payed off.
I had not time since to try to unlock LTE as per vanshee's posts above, but will do it as soon as I will have some spare in my schedule.

Hi, I tried again and this time and it showed me the "automatic" band, and as of now I have connectivity which by the way seems to be a little faster than what it used to be (could be a placebo pill I took a few hours ago though ). Thanks for this.
I'm really confused and would like to know why this happened in the first place, I guess if I ever dare flash another rom it'd probably go back to being stuck on edge. I thought that Roms flashed thru recovery wouldn't touch anything regarding the radios, at least not the custom roms (which are normaly stripped from things that are meant to be on a firmware pack anyways), it had never happened to me before...
thanks again man.
Lost Signal while messing up with Phone Info settings
Hey I am facing the same issue here, ditto
I have flashed latest Viper ROM but don't see the Auto option in Phone Info settings.
How do I re-flash Viper in other than default mode as you described?
Doing it for the first time, please excuse.. Have already lost a couple of days sleep over this issue. Please help !!
Hey, does the T-Mobile version of Viper ROM for M8 work on Verizon? I did the same mistaje and now facing the same issue, I have updated my Firmware to latest 5.0.1 and now downloading Viper 4.3.0 T-Mobile version. Hope it works. I already tried Verizon version of Viper and it did not show automatic option in Phone Info Settings.
Fingers crossed
Update: Nope, didn't work. Viper ROM 4.3.0 T-Mobile variant did not work.
Resolved: So the issue was latest Viper ROM 4.3.0 doesn't give you an option to choose carrier(Verizon/Sprint/T-Mobile etc.) in Aroma, Viper has released a separate DL for Verizon M8. I learnt the hard way(downloading and flashing several ROMs) that any ROM that gives an option to choose carrier in Aroma during installation would enable the Automatic option in Phone Info Settings/Phone Testing App/ 4G Switcher App / Network app. So earlier version of Viper ROM probably 4.4.4 would have worked. A single Custom ROM download that supports Multiple Carriers is the solution missing Radio Band issue..
I downloaded GPE 5.0.1 on my 5.0.1 Stock Firmware to get my lost signal, relief !!
Careful, do not go for 5.1, GPE gives an option to upgrade your firmware and install Lollipop 5.1 , i tried and it didn't work but Firmware and ROM 5.0.1 work like a charm. Cheers!!

hey gaurika,
Could you please guide me how did you choose T-Mobile US in Aroma while installing ViperOne Rom on your Verizon M8. I am in a similar no signal situation from past few days and have tried almost everything that I cam across in XDA.
I tried figuring out myself but unable to do it so far, I'm pretty noob. Much appreciate your reply. A setp-by-step info will be helpful
Update: Installed latest GPE ROM from the below thread and was able to get my signal back..

Celebration time Cheers!!!
