Hi. I just rooted my droid 2 global. used recovery bootstrap to get into recovery and flashed LiquidICS v1.6 [unofficial port]. Now got stock on the boot animation and can't get into clockwork/recovery mode. I made a backup of the oficial rom. what can I do now? tried pressing X and power button but get to the droid with a yellow sign. Press Search but nothing comes up.
Any advice?
Thanks!
I see you are a really, really busy and important person who don't need to ever read sticky posts or use forum search.
So for people who are way too smart and important to read/search, it's vol+ and vol- instead of the search key.
Thank you for littering the forum with copies of the exact same question that has been answered at least 50 times.

I was trying to update my droid to a gingerbread from steeldroid section of ROM manager. I was using BB Gingerbread rom before doing this. Everything went fine, but it's stuck on the motorola logo. I know that you can get into recovery mode by pressing down power button and x, but I can't do this because my power button is broken. Is there any way to revert it back to the way it was? or is there maybe a way to get it into recovery mode another way?
Note: I have read other threads of people with similar problems. The difference between them and me is that they were able to get into recovery mode to reflash while I AM NOT able to do so. This is because my power button is completely useless on the phone...someone please tell me it's not totally bricked.
Thanks to anyone that can offer help!
Alright, guys, see if you can help me. Ive got a rooted HTC Inspire with the latest version of clockwork installed. I tried to flash a ROM of cyanogenmod7 onto my phone earlier from a download through ROM manager, but now my phone won't boot. It powers on, vibrates, shows the "HTC" on the screen, then repeats the whole process. I can't boot into clockwork recovery, either. I hold down both volume buttons and hit power then the phone vibrates 5 times. The green LED comes on, but no screen image is displayed.
Any clue on how to fix this, or even better, get into clockwork?
Also, i apologize if this question has already been asked.
Have you tried this:

EDIT: You need to hold only the volume down then power till you see the white screen. Not both volume buttons.

There's a guide stickied to this general section that should help you.

For one thing, I don't think holding down *both* power buttons does anything on this phone.
Vol-down (only) + power gets you to hboot.

Yes, it's updating now in recovery. Thanks everyone! I knew that there was something I was doing wrong, as I had the same issue last night.
Thanks again for all the help!
Hey guys,
I followed the instructions from the following URL:

In regards to Rooting my Phone which is now running Telus Stock Gingerbread.
I have no problems flashing the Speedmod kernel with odin but i am unable to boot into recovery mode [vol up & down + power button].
I've tried the [Home + Vol up + power button] but still no luck. Wondering why other Telus Fascinate owners are able to boot into recovery when I can't.
Does anyone know why I can't get into recovery mode?
Thanks,
I did hear that a few of the telus fascinates do not have the actual hardware option enabled to get into recovery mode.
Has anybody else that owns a telus fascinate having problems getting into recovery mode?

When you are trying to boot into recovery (holding vol up&down+power) are you letting go of the power once the boot screen appears (The one that says SGH-T959D)?
I notice that if I don't let go out power it will continuously reboot. I see that another user in the link you posted is having issues with that CWM. Maybe try posting in that thread or wait for a response.
Are you looking for simply stock 2.3.3 rooted with CWM? Or something like CM7?
Thanks for you reply.
I would like to post it in that forum but I do not have enough posts yet to post in the other development forums.
I do let go of the power button at the right time because I'm use to getting it into 'Download' mode without any issues. Plus the fact that I have also tried almost every Volume up, down and home combination to try get it into recovery. No such luck through.
All I'm wanting right now is to simply get Gingerbread rooted on my phone.
Sorry guys it finally worked after numerous trys.
Cheers

Hi all. Today I just found THIS. It is apparently many months old... however it's new news to me! Hashcode has developed a bootstrap for the Droid 3 that allows you to boot into CWM from "BP Tools" in the boot selection menu (power + both volume buttons).
It warns you to not use it on ANY other phone because of key filesystem differences. So unless you want to probably flash the fxz, then don't install it. (READ: you shouldn't install it, but you'll get a big thanks if you do install it )
@lfaber06/jimbridgman: do you guys think this can be ported to the A2?

No need, use the one from the razr on boot from j.y.daddy..... It has been posted and used in here for quite some time... I use it and I love it.
Here is the link to the post, to get said boot script:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1385283
You still need the Atrix 2 bootstrap, that is here:

I know, I have used the Razr Recover on Boot many times before.... it's just really annoying to press the "reboot" button and wait through the red "M" again in order to boot up.
The reason that this is nice is because it makes you normally boot up like it normally does, and then you can press+hold Power/Volume to get to the boot menu to choose "BP Tools."

Yes. What we have now is something that hijacks the boot every time you boot up, and if you want to keep booting you press a button. What this does is make it so that we can boot into CWM from holding power and the volume buttons and then scrolling down to "BP Tools".
However @jim I understand that we have a completely functional CWM on boot working now. It would just be really convenient to have this. I was just pointing it out for if anyone smart enough wanted to port it (i.e. nitroglycerin33... where did he go anyways? I thought he said he would continue to develop stuff for the A2?).

I will talk to hashcode.... that is where safestrap came from. Right now though, since we have a working way to get to cwm on boot, this is a low priority for us.
I will pull it apart and see if it is possible. But since we are having some issues with hardware buttons in 2.3.6, I am not 100% sure right now.

It absolutely does, that's how we get into fastboot mode... to get to the boot selection menu hold both volume buttons and power button. To go straight to fastboot hold power and volume down for a couple seconds then let go.
There are a couple other cool combinations that will freeze the bootloader and cause you to pull the batter to turn your phone on
I have a Captivate which I had been running SlimICS 4.04 and wanted to try SlimJB so I downloaded the device and common files and flashed through CWMR. It rebooted after flashing the device file (pretty sure it wasn't supposed to do that) and got stuck at the splash screen 9not what I would call a boot loop, it just sits there ... forever). I can get into CWMR and use the volume up/down to cycle through the options, but the power button will not select anything. This is with CWMR Touch 6.0.1.1. Ideally I would just like to be able to reflash the ROM if there's a magic key combination to get CWMR to process a command.
I can get into download mode if using Odin will be necessary.
Thanks
Oh, and I would have posted in the SlimJB section but as you can all see this is my first post.

Oh for goodness sake, that was way too easy ...
Thanks very much, re-install complete and happily rebooting.
Yeah, I ran into both problems (post count) and the key press issue. The dev went on vacation without starting a Q&A thread, and thanks to XDA's lovely policy, we newbs are stuck here.
