[Q] Its time to move on (Need a new phone) - HTC Sensation

I've had the sensation for quite a while now, but I still think I'll be using this lil' sucker for a bit more until I can invest in a new phone.
The reason I made this thread is just to ask if someone can recommend another phone with a better battery life than the Sensation
I'm looking for something affordable too :silly: lets say I'm willing to spend about no <$150
Thanks for any help

Wait for upcoming Motorola X phone.

Is the sensation worth it?

I have a desire but plan to get the sensation next week. I have been following the threads on here and there seems to be a lot of issues:
3 types of screen some good some bad,
Poor build quality, creaking handset,
Data issues, cutting off,
WiFi issues, cutting off during screen off,
Sense keeps rebooting.
Would you advise anyone to get the sensation?

I think it was worth the upgrade from the DHD, so definitely worth it from desire.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
I also agree it was worth the update from DHD
Go for it. I'm well happy with mine. No real issues at all. There is slight creaking but it's more to do with the outer shell which houses the main body of the device. Overall its a solid piece of kit.

I have had majority of new handsets and to be honest the sensation is my favourite
I had the galaxy s2 yes screen is better and a lot faster (3200 on quadrant compared to 2032 on sensation) but the computer software is buggy and that's how you update any firmware pushes , its hard to get videos to play if they are on memory card
I've had iPhone 4 to and the sensation is better also updates are ota

these threads make me sad
Great, there just seemed to be lot of negatives floating around.
Thank you.
As for eagles I'm glad you took the time to post, really helped. I hope you feel better soon and hope the sadness does not reflect your personality. I hope you are just as helpful on other threads.

I've recently upgraded to an unlocked Sensation on Orange from an HD2 and just love it; it doesn't freeze, creak, get hot, reboot, leak light or have a grainy screen. It just sits there, urging me to play with it and enjoy it, like a kid in a toy shop.
All I've done is play games, download music and silly Apps and I've even managed to read some threads here and download the Terminal Emulator to find out which screen I have.
I really enjoyed the HD2 and now have that for work as they supply some postage stamp sized Nokia thing and at 48, I can't see the blighter!
For me, the Sensation was the right move and I hope to enjoy it for many months to come. My son has the DHD and he's sniffing round mine, with his roms and talk of bootloaders!!! He can bog off and buy his own!
I upgraded to the sensation a few weeks ago from the Desire and to be honest the only thing that is better on the Desire than this is having root and s-off. Go for it

It's a personal choice...for me it's a great device & upgrade (even from the super Nexus One)!
I upgraded from a DHD and certainly don't regret it. I love this phone!

Yes.
Asked a similar question in the [Q] forum. Just picked one up.
After hearing approval from my N1 brothers, I concur.
Its worth it.
I read the complain threads here on xda and most of the time the issues are not as bad as the posters make them out to be. I have an Incredible S right now and before that a Nexus One. The Nexus One got so many complaints, but after I brought the phone it ended up being one of the best phones I owned. Same with the Incredible S. As for the Sensation I'll probably get one this summer.

Yes it's worth it for me! Upgraded from an HTC Wildifre so it's pretty much night and day with the Sensation!
Internal hardware wise the SGS2 are better but OS software implementation Sensation are the best plus the higher resolution support are way good for videos on Sensation, I recommend the sensation over SGS2 anytime. I gave u 1 example on just the lockscreen, with SGS2 u have to drag the whole page right to the top just to unlock it and that is irritating enough for me but with the sensation it unlocks the screen just with a bit slide. So it is still up to u again on what to buy in the end. U have to try it both before u buy any.....goodluck

and thanks for that. still smirking
Jasand the phone is bound to have a few glitches with software which HTC will fix in firmware updates the only glitch I have is the free RAM which is always around 129mb despite the phone having loads built in ... But I have run a few things at once and not had a slow down just use the built in task manager if your worried but to be honest android does a good job at managing background stuff for you
The only other issue is battery just use juice defender
What I would do however is buy from somewhere reputable as a few of us including me have had faulty handsets (hot battery and I mean HOT)
Good luck in your quest

Is the Sensation still worth?

I was wondering if the Sensation is still worth buying? Browsing through this forum I found many people having some problem or the other..is it really a bug magnet or what?

This is the longest I've ever owned a phone lol. If I can get a good deal I might jump to the One S in a few months for the camera and the body but i really love my Sensation
Awesome device...Get it before it's too late
And what about the problems
Sent from my HTC One V using XDA
I've had my Sensation since this past August and after many hours spent tinkering, trying out custom ROMs, the only problem I've ever had is that I don't see an icon when I get voicemails. I saw the notifications initially but after unlocking it at the end of that August I haven't seen the icon again.
If something happened to mine, I would consider another model but I'd probably try and scope out a good deal on another Sensation 4G. It's a great phone!
considering the low price it goes for on the used market its completely worth it!!!
Does it beat the EVO 3d?
Sent from my HTC One V using XDA
They're almost the same phones - Evo3D has dual cameras, 3D display and larger battery (can be bought for the Sensation as well) and 1 GB RAM (instead of 768).
Take your pick.
It's very worth, due to the lower price. I like my sensation
It's a good phone, you can get them quite cheap off eBay, mine cost very little (comparatively speaking).
Great phone, still loads of support from devs
I haven't experiences any problem like dust under the screen or the like. Everything works great, and sense4 functions well.
If you want a used and cheap phone get the sensation. But i advise you, if you're going to spend big then look for other phones like the Galaxy Nexus or wait for the GS3.

What problems? Before to buy Sensation I watched a lot of videos on Youtube, read a lot of fourms etc - haven't find any problems, and while using also there's no problems. And mine is rooted and Sense 4 is just great, no need for One S.
Sensation is way to go
so i just got myself a Sensation XE, exchanged my One V since that was a good performer yet still had many defects, and woahhhh i'm absolutely LOVING this XE!
Thnx to everybody for their replies! i'm completely happy with my choice and jus can't stop lookin at the big boy..
Yep. I thought it was a bugfest here too but since the price started to get really cheap last month I bought one and surprisingly it was well worth it. Very fast and responsive on ICS (specially when on Custom rom). Development is superb too. Only issue I have is the poor battery life but these can be solve by buying an aftermarket battery (something like anker or chichitec w/c has 1900 mah).
I bought mine for $250 last month

Which used GSM Android to buy for max $250

Hi Guys,
Which Android phone would you advice me with a budget of maximum €200 ($250)? I'm willing to buy something used.
Mainly I need good and stable WiFi Tethering (Hotspot, not peer-to-peer access point).
Second thing is the speed - I'm upgrading from a HTC Hero, which even after rooting with VillainROM isn't really the fastest...
HTC Desire? Or any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Edit: sorry wrong section, moved question to here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26891627#post26891627
For used phone i think Galaxy S i9000. i have this phone and a very very good device
Thanks for your answer.
Actually, the Galaxy S Advance still fits my budget, so I guess it would be a much better choice than the S i9000?
I'm looking for a 3.7" or 4.0" phone (I'd like it to be usable with one hand) so that leaves me with rather limited choices. I have also found the Xperia Sola, but it seems that it isn't very popular here on xda, and I have read it has browsing problems...
Other than that, the Galaxy Ace 2 seems very interesting.
What would you advice? Or are there any other phones worth considering?
Buy the HTC explorer or Samsung GT-5360 there both good phones.

I can only suggest that what ever you get, make sure it's HTC!

I used to have a Desire Z (the one with the hardware keyboard) but it started feeling too slow because of lack of sheer CPU horsepower.
I managed to snag a used HTC Sensation 4G for about $250 and I absolutely love it. There are lots of great ICS ROMs for it (outside of any official ICS releases). With newer phones coming out, you should be able to pick up a used one within your budget.
Good luck!
HTC sensations are going for around 250 in my area.

..if you can, go for the HTC Sensation...otherwise Samasung Galaxy S
Thanks so much for the answers
I was looking at these phones, I think I might stretch my budget, but the Sensation is 4.3"... My original goal was to be able to use the phone in one hand, but maybe I'm exaggerating?
Last time I went to a store here I found that the Xperia Sola (3.7") was OK to use with one hand. The Galaxy S Advance (4.0") felt quite large already, but was also possible. There wasn't anything 4.3", but the One X (4.7") felt totally impossible.
If I were to go for the Samsung, is a Galaxy S really preferred over a dual-core 1,0GHz Galaxy S Advance??? Or is it to be expected that there won't be much development for the S Advance?
And about the Sensation - I see there is the Sensation 4G with a 1,2GHz CPU and the XE with a 1,5GHz. I assume the latter would be of preference?
Get the LG g2x
HTC sensation XE. Great phone.

The Sensation XE has a faster CPU (not THAT noticeable) but it does have Beats Audio, which the regular 4G doesn't have.
Of course, if Beats Audio is important to you and you can get a 4G for cheap, do it and just root your device and install a custom ROM onto it. There are lots of them and some of them have Beats built in.
Moto photon 4g, amazing phone

Honestly. I thought 4' was the perfect size. Then I got the sensation and omg. No lies its the perfect size screen. 4.3 is what they should leave em at. I have a epic 4g touch and jesus christ its too big for my hands.

Why?
The folks from the Atrix forum claim that CM9 is usable on daily basis, and the videos of it on youtube look really good (very smooth)
I am actually considering a SGS2 now, because they have dropped in price second hand considerably (I can get a used SGS2 for the price of a new Atrix here), but I'm still not really convinced I'll get used to the size of it...

I've had the atrix and honestly. Idk what the deal is about Motorola but the atrix just isn't smooth. Its not slow, no not at all but I mean it studders on every little action. I don't know how to explain it, its like its not optimized for the hardware.

[Q] Sensation vs Nexus i9250

Hi,
I've a question regarding the HTC Sensation. I'm a proud HTC Sensation owner but i got an offer from a friend that he would like to experience a different phone and he has the Nexus i9250. Now is my question: What would be the better phone?
I know it sounds silly to start a topic about it in the HTC Sensation forums but still i want to ask a most open-minded opinion on what would be better.
Thanks in regards,
Marlo
take the gnex. its more open, got a bigger screen and its the fastest way to get OTA updates
Well I owned the sensation and am too looking for a gnex. The step up is definitely worth it, faster, bigger and better screen, lighter.... And forementioned OTA

The troll is heading back to his bridge!!

So I've received the HTC One S a few days ago (not the One X + because tmobile doesn't like nice phones) and I'm falling in love with it! So I guess this means goodbye, at least for a while. I'm sure this is good news for most lol. If it's any conciliation, the HTC one S development thread is horrible!! It has no personality what so ever and no one objects when others ask for ETAs which is something I've grown to genuinely love about this community Hopefully Bhundven and his team successfully port jelly bean (and have TV out working) but I'm sure a few weeks after, there'll be a mass migration back to ics in favor of a more "stable rom." lol Anywho good luck guys, the Samsung Galaxy S 4g will always be in my heart!

I've also been eyeing that phone... I think the One X is too big, and the One S is much closer to the size of the GS4G, which I like very much. I've also checked out the One S forums, but am still on the fence, especially since my phone works so well with these custom roms, I really don't have a great reason to upgrade, other than trying something new..
please report back how you like it (or send a PM if you don't want to clutter up the board here).

Yeah honestly I can't stress to you how awesome this phone is! The display is super bright, the resolution is also pretty good so don't worry about qhd complaints specially since you're coming from the S 4g display. The camera is professional quality and it preforms well day to day. If you don't like sense you can always install apex or a stock aokp ics rom but I happen to like sense personally specially the widgets and customizations. The rooting method, like for most htc phones, is significantly harder. There is another thing called S-off which has hindered development for the phone. There are still plenty of roms to play around with (including jelly bean!) but the installation is pretty tricky so for instance, you'll need to use a command prompt to flash something called a boot image to install any time and it's easy to brick. There are other new terms you'll need to learn of course. Don't let this scare you. One of the best things is the battery life (Both onscreen and stand by). The sheer performance is out of this world for example it can be over clocked to 2.1 mhz! Trust me when I say you won't regret having this phone! I've even heard from some it's better than the one X

if I do end up with a 1S, I'll be sure to offer up my GS4G here for development
