So my question is simple: Can I use Droid 2 milestone or Droid 2 outer screen as a replacement part for my Droid 2 Global? In other words is there any difference between that part in the different versions of this phone?
What's “outer screen”?
The touchscreens are different, for example.
The glass that covers the lcd
its the digitizer, not sure if they are compatible
most likely yes

sd_shadow, as you know very well the digitizer's flex cable in D2G is different from the D2.
Thank you for your always spot-on responses and especially your complete lack of punctuation.

Does anybody know if droid2 a955 digitizer would fit on D2G a956?I need firm answer, thanks.
This wont really answer your question but if you want to be 100% sure then just get the part for the D2G instead of trying to mate a D2 screen to a D2G.
Well, after month i decided to buy d2g digitizer which is expencive 3 times more than d2 digi because of connector,hmmm....i'm asking if anyone knows which torx screwdriver i must use for lcd dismantle(those 5 screws on the rear side of display)?
You need a T4. There are actually 10 screws not 5. You will see the other screws after you push the slider up. Be careful you don't rip the flex cable.
Thanks,i ordered set t3-t6,cause dealer only ships t6...have changed few htc hd2 digitizer's in past,so i have little knowledge...

they are not compatible with each other.
If I could find an oled screen with the same dimensions and resolution as our phone, is there some way to swap it for the lcd we use? Just wondering
Sent from my RubiX ICS Infused using Tapatalk
Probably not. There's no driver for it. Plus it would have to have the same connector as the LCD

If you could find one with the same exact size, resolution, and connector (and also uses each pin on the connector for the same purpose), then I would say yes. The probability of finding one that would work slim to none.
Is the screen we have the same as the G2, or better?

The MT4GS has a super LCD and the G2 only has a TFT LCD screen so we have a better LCD screen. Although the G2 has Gorilla glass and we don't.

Oh really? I thought both devices had a S-LCD...
Either way, I'm not planning on dropping my device so Gorilla Glass doesn't matter to me. I take very good care of my devices. Haven't dropped any of my previous 4 phones
Just the usual pocket wear. That's the only culprit. Otherwise I would be able to buy and sell my phones back in New condition lol.

You could still drop it and the screen wouldn't break since its plastic, it's just less scratch resistant than gorilla glass is all. But as far as the LCD screens go that was from GSM arena so it may be right or may not. Usually it's pretty accurate though.
I'm trying to find somewhere decent that carrys parts for the skyrocket that isn't stupid expensive, i know these digitizer lcd combos aren't all 180+$
my lcd is fine, so what im wondering if anyone has torn one of these bad boys apart, or if they only make the combos.
Any suggestions for websites that have digitizers for the skyrocket would make my day!
Dropped my phone last night, cracked digitizer...derp
same situation on my old black skyrocket... just a digitizer would be nice
So, has anybody been able to find the outer glass only? I can't order the $200 digitizer+lcd... makes no sense...
Prices have gone down a little, they're at 150 now, Google mengtor

I have also been looking everywhere for just a glass/digitizer as I also cracked my glass from a drop after hours of looking around it seems they are still about $150 at the cheapest...

If you can't find a cheap digitizer, you could maybe part it out on eBay and then just buy a whole phone used.
Does anyone know where I can get a main rear camera for this?
Hey y'all. I dropped my white SR a while back and repaired the screen myself. I used http://www.cellphone-repair-shop.com/samsung-skyrocket-sgh-i727/
They have the best prices on parts that I could find. You can do it all yourself too. Just google instructions for replacing the parts.
To repair the LCD/digitizer, you have to replace the entire front, not just the glass. It's an all in one unit, that's why it's so expensive. I followed these instructions: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1758028-How-To-replace-I727-screen
Yup. The digitizer and its circuitry are attached to the screen (glass) with some wicked adhesive. Its an all-in-one piece that is also glued into the carriage. It comes out from the front. Just replaced mine last night lol.

Hey,
We know One S has Corning Gorilla Glass and as i understand Corning Gorilla Glass 2 is better then its predecessor, so is it possible to change it on a One S?
Thank you for your thoughts
It's the same thing, just thinner. If anything it cracks easier.
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using Tapatalk 2
That is not an answer to my question.
You could super glue it
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium
Only if they make it for this device. I don't see why they would

No it is NOT possible to exchange the Corning Gorilla Glass on ONEs since its not just 'glued' to the AMOLED, but its more like soldered to it.
Also as far as I know ver.2 is more thin and pressure resistant (as if you acidently sit on your phone - it's less likely to crack) than ver.1 and for most part it wont be a big deal... just don't hold your phone in your pocket (any pocket for that matter...)

I thought so too. Then another use posted his screen shot proving me wrong.
Could you provide link or other prove to this? Would be helpful for all of us.
It seems to me its just marketing, you can have have Radioactive Gorilla Glass 14 on your phone and its still going to shatter when it hits the cement
I am going to purchase my Surface 2 RT on saturday. I was wondering do I have to purchase the touch 2 or type 2 covers or will the covers for the first surface work also? I am on a budget and the covers for the 2 are more expensive so I was wondering.
Old covers work on the new surfaces as well.

Thank you so much that's great to know. But then what's the advantage of the new covers? Sorry for sounding like a newbie

Type cover 2 has keyboard backlighting, a trackpad made of feltish material rather than the plastic material found on Type cover 1, and is a teeny bit thinner. As for Touch cover 2, it also has backlighting, as well as a lot more sensors on the keys than the Type cover 1, increasing the sensitivity of the keyboard
Yep, the backlights are the main feature, although both covers are also a bit thinner than their original versions. The Touch 2 is also a lot more accurate (I'm not sure I'd say "sensitive" so much as that it has a better idea of where your finger was and hence can guess what word you actually meant and learn the way you type, much like a phone or tablet on-screen-keyboard).
Thanks for the replies. I have a Motorola KZ500 Bluetooth Keyboard and Trackpad. Hopefully it works with the surface 2 until I can justify buying the type 2 cover.
That should work fine as an input device.
You also may be able to find gen1 covers for cheap. Heck, I'd consider selling you mine to offset the cost of buying a gen2...
Hmm I was thinking about just saving up for the gen 2 type cover but how much would you be willing to sell your gen 1? And is it the touch or type and what color?

Touch, black, used but good condition. I'd need to look at the going rate for them, but I'd be willing to cut a bit of a deal for an XDA member. PM me if you want to make me an offer; the public forum probably isn't the best place.
