its not a matter of it being unlocked, you can purchase them unlocked from alot of places. its a matter of NONE of them being able to utilize tmobiles 3g/4g AWS bands. They will only work on edge as far as data goes.

although T-Mobile will not be getting the sgsII (supposedly) Its likely we will be getting this Goliath monster of a phone.

Edit: I noticed the article does not mention the battery size... if it shares a similar battery with the infuse 4g it should be a 1750mah battery.

I didnt know that... but I know I am waiting for more info on this phone. Sounds like it may even trump the SGSII (excluding dev support).
Just informing our fellow Infuse owners of something that a lot of us have been waiting for (and possibly didn't upgrade to the SGS II for that reason).

AT&T announced the first 2 LTE phones, the Samsung Galaxy S II: Skyrocket, and HTC Vivid (Holiday).
Discuss what you think about these phones, and AT&T's LTE network if/when you do get them (if you have LTE service in your area, obviously).

The Galaxy Nexus is a complete failure of a phone specs wise, it gets outran by the SGS II by a mile.
OS wise, it has ICS, so it's obviously better, but once the source is released, I'm sure CM9 will be on it.
I'm also selling my Infuse, I want this phone badly. Will be selling my iPod also, or I may open another line and get it on contract, but I WANT this phone.

1280x720 on PenTile, which wil give you the same PPI as the iPhone 4, actually, it gives you LESS PPI then the iPhone 4.
It also won't have better colors then SAMOLED+, so yeah....

Yep. Honestly, if I get the SGSII, I'll be dissapointed in the Snapdragon, but it's still pretty snappy.
Now, if it comes with the 1.5GHz Exynos, then... well it'll be the best Samsung phone out.

The LTE radios forAT&T are thinner because they have new tech, and AT&T's LTE network is more advanced then Verizons (or so they say).

Austin just got LTE and I went with a friend to get the skyrocket. The lag was obvious with the browser but the internet was smoking! It's so tempting to take my less than 30 day old sgsII back to hop on the LTE train. At first glance, i couldn't tell a difference with the display crispness but knowing it's there does bug me. Anyone else go to the skyrocket from the ogsII and have any regrets?
I made the switch and have no regrets.
Can you guys comment on the battery life on the skyrocket vs galaxy s2? Have the skyrocket and no lte here yet but already a bit disappointed in the battery. Plus I figure if its this bad now it must be much worse with lte

I went from GSII to Skyrocket.. I have to agree, battery is not better or worse than most of my past Androids. If anything, this shows better battery life BECAUSE of how LTE should be draining more juice.
Now that ive experienced LTE, its LTE over HSPA anyday.

Battery life for me has been excellent on the Skyrocket .. for me though, I have gone past my 30 days (dammit) .. if there was choice to get the SGS2 or even back to the Infuse .. I would jump on it immediately. The fact that there is MORE out there for ROMs and customization for those other 2 phones than there is for this !!! I figured the SGS2 Skyrocket would have took off in regards to having some neat ROMs .. but I guess I jumped the gun to damn soon.. Even looking at the HTC Vivid, they're in the same boat in regards to getting anything good on there phones.

the vivid has a LOCKED bootloader, and you cant even get perm-root on it. trust me, this is the better LTE phone on AT&T right now.

Ahh just me venting .. LOL
Yeah, the HTC Vivid looked good (was one of my choices before the SGS2 Sky), but with all the crap out there from HTC CEO and his promises, I knew that one wouldn't be the one to get.
I love the SGS2 Sky .. my final choice, seeing that there was many out there for the original SGS2 (all variants) in regards to ROMs, that the LTE versions (ours and Rogers) would follow soon in regards to the selections .. ME GETTING IMPATIENT .. LOL
But truthfully .. it will be well worth the WAIT
I think things are starting to look up for the skyrocket we have johnsondr80 of the collective working on his red sonja rom, mortem taum doing amazing wallpapers, da_g doing at&t and Rogers kernels just to name a few
After using Vibrant for more than a year and recently switching to AT&T with SkyRocket, I'm seeing exceptional battery compared to Vibrant. On moderate use, it never lasted me a whole day. On SkyRocket, I have been using it moderately since 8 AM this morning and after 14 hours, I still have 14% battery remaining.

This phone has the best battery life of the 2 android phones I've had which are the captivate and the g2 and is close to the iphone 4 battery life for me. I'm not in an LTE area but the speeds are already super fast compared to those phones.
I have also been debating between the gsII and the skyrocket because I love flashing roms (maybe I haven't tasted LTE yet), but I am really hoping for great developers to come to this phone. Right now I see a lot of potential though.
For now you could also use the T-Mobile SGH-T989 roms haha.

You can always use eBay. The only problem with OEM eBay batteries - you get crappy capacity (even if you see Samsung stickers on the batteries - they aren't really Samsung).
On the other hand, you can get a bit more expensive batteries, even with NFC (I remember seeing one for $15 or so, don't remember the brand - but it was the only custom one with NFC when I looked).

I think that jack in post above u was explaining about battery LIFE on ICS and Jelly Bean (JB has better batt life-that's the difference). Not the actual shape of the battery
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
Actually I meant the shape of the battery. It's completely different from international SGS2 (i9100), and also different from just about any other mainstream Samsung phone - the only relatively mainstream reference is Galaxy Nexus (having a bit smaller battery - 1750mAh vs our 1850mAh, but it fits physically and the difference is small). I know because I had to find one for myself, got the phone with non-functional one.

Yes, there is - and I even ordered such battery The problem is that the OP wrote that he isn't from US, and by the looks of it I assumed he doesn't have anyone in US that can buy this battery (from Sprint) and send him. It doesn't look to be a quest for increased battery capacity, but rather just for any (possibly additional) battery.
How much did u pay for it? I am not from US also but i found some on ebay claiming to be original by samsung-it is US seller. This one is 18$ + 14.99$> shipping
Sprint one goes for shipping only - $6.50. The only catch - they'll ship to US address only. If you can use shipping company that is based in US and can "forward" you the shipping (like myus.com) - it might be worth the extra shipping cost.

Yes I am aware of that. All I am saying is that 1950 and higher ml after market batteries are much more readily available for the galaxy nexus than the blaze 4G. This phone does not have a lot of accessories or battery options. It was barely marketed and I am just trying to help.

Some ebay listings on aftermarket batteries will have multiple device codenames ( ex. T769).
We are lucky we don't use an exhilarate, those things are below marketed. Rare to find in public at that.
